Studio B (now known by it's new name, DHX Media Vancouver), did not say that Derpy will remain. As of one month ago, they said they had not heard anything about any problems. Then someone had the animation "adjusted" and dialogue re-recorded, which would probably have required DHX.
Kreoss, one animator from Top Draw (the company in the Philippines that the bulk of the animation work gets outsourced to), who posts on Deviantart, says that Derpy will be "fine", even though they censored her eyes in one episode (many more existing episodes potentially on the chopping block), changed her voice, and removed her name. That will not affect anything more in the future, and even if it does, Derpy is non-essential.
He also jumped to the defense of another Deviantartist (who some people describe as one of the ringleaders in the vocal minority who caused this whole mess in the first place), because she never personally asked
him to kill Derpy, therefore she must have never asked anyone in the MLP hierarchy. All she did was vocally express her minority opinions.
I'm all in favor of holding back until we know more about what happened, but I intend to be a part of the vocal majority that tries to correct this mistake.
