Girlfriend asked if we can watch MLP together. She obviously knew I was a fan (what with a Maud Pie tattoo and all...) but I never really brought it up with her before.
Seven episodes into the first season and she's really enjoying it. Feels good
Considering how much the pilot is referenced later, are you planning on watching it at some point? Anyway, so you started with "The Ticket Master"? Did your girlfriend like it from the start?
On another note, I usually don't post about the trading card game, but this card's flavor text amused me.
Extra Credits's Extra Play plays the Mega Man romhack MLP: Dr. Discord's Conquest, not to be confused with Mega Mare (EDIT: Mega Pony). Many of the people playing are fans of the show, or at least watched the first season, so there's no negativity in that regard, though none of them realized that "No Second Prances" was the name of an episode. The comments aren't negative either.

I saw that when it appeared in my Youtube subscriptions. I had to do a double take as, sure, I do expect some My Little Pony related videos from some of those, but Extra Play was not one of them.
I did like their reaction to the episode name, thpugh. "No Second Prances!" as the Die Hard spoof. I'd almost want to see that. Who'd be McClane? Applejack, maybe?
Fangame Spike's Day Out, and the prequel Spike's Day Off. These games are short, though Day Out drags a bit with a lot of backtracking. However, the sprites are pretty good.
DrWolf released another one of his oddly well-voiced and insightful therapy videos, this time for Rainbow Dash (previous ones here, Main Six ones are all at the top).
From oodorato, a new song made from show clips. I was saying a month or so ago that it's a shame that there weren't any songs like this being made after the first years of the fandom, but here's one now.
From this (mislabeled) merchandise post, there's a licensed jigsaw puzzle that's pretty blatantly using fan art. Also, Twilight being super happy on a bed sheet.
Larson goes too far, Twilight-themed water wings. Could do without the creepy face on the board, though (which is why I'm not embedding it).

Fluttershy plays Nintendogs. I haven't been watching this Fluttershy Plays series, but this is the first I've seen that isn't some weird or creepy game, so I decided to check it out. And no, there's no shift to a different game, the video's all Nintendogs. This fan VA really is pretty good.
I enjoyed these two PMVs that ED highlighted. I guess it's just nice to have straightforward PMVs with show clips edited in time to music without a bunch of added effects. Note that the first has Equestria Girls clips mixed in with the pony stuff, which I usually find jarring, but it's alright here.

I used to do that kind of thing. Eventually thought I realized there was no longer an interest in simple PMVs. It's either get good with After Effects or you're white noise to the rest of the fandom and I don't have the initiative to learn new software. Maybe one day...
Apparently, Coco Pommel had her name change to Miss Pommel for legal reasons.
Also, reading the comments (including by our own DrForester). Ditzy/Derpy... is now apparently called Muffins? When did that happen? I know I read a fic from February (dinky vs the moon) where the author referred to Ditzy/Derpy as Muffins, but I couldn't figure out why...

I suppose this is what happens when a minor character given a name that's a cutesie reference to a real life person becomes a recurring character. The one moment of Rarity addressing her as "Miss Pommel" in the episode seemed perfectly in character, so it didn't stick out to me until others pointed out that that's how she's credited in the credits.
Well, Coco probably won't be a major enough character in the show again that it will be strange that no one addresses her informally, they aren't editing her old episodes, and she'll continue to be called Coco in fanworks, so this isn't a major issue. It will make any future Friends Forever issue with her awkward if whoever she's paired up with simply doesn't use her first name, though.
The art could use some work and the voices are alright but the presentation looks pretty neat! I worry that the scale might be too big to aim for with juggling the 3 defense attorneys and their gimmicks as well as visiting several locations throughout Equestria. Even the second case of My Little Investigations is still in development hell for a couple of years. Hope there's a new prosecutor and that's its not just Trixie only for several cases.
Yeah, the dialogue from the trailer is pretty eh, the awkward English in the trailer captions is a worrying, and the expanded range of settings makes me think this will be even more dragged out than the original. Well, the fact that there are multiple cases should help in that regard. Also, the original ended up going the route that there wasn't really a murder, showing that Equestria just wasn't that kind of world, but I'm disappointed that this story seems like it will have actual murders. Still, the original had fun character interactions that made the pacing and sometimes odd character moments worthwhile, so hopefully this one will have those too.
Also, it's hard to believe that Turnabout Storm ended back in 2013, and started well before that.
I hadn't thought about My Little Investigations for a while. Has there actually been any news on the next part recently?
PMV - Arcades, which is heavy on flashy effects, but is pretty well made.
Nice Twilight and Spike art, from another artist who doesn't appear to typically draw ponies. Humanized Twilight, drawn in an interesting style. I would say this artist doesn't appear to typically draw ponies, but there isn't much on the tumblr page in the first place.
And on the subject of Equestria Girls, apparently the Canterlot High Tell-All book was released back in April. I haven't been able to find much information about the contents other than what's been posted on Derpibooru. Some selections: The writers trying to start shit by revealing everyone's crushes.
Rarity avoids the question, Rainbow likes a guy on the baseball team, Pinkie likes Shining Armor, Fluttershy likes green-haired hippy guy, Applejack likes her old friend Jonathan (shrug), Sunset hasn't liked anyone since Flash.
Sunset Shimmer's thoughts on Principal Celestia... really anticlimactic. This is just like in Ace Attorney when you show someone a piece of evidence you'd think they'd have a strong reaction to, but they just give the generic response.
Uh, that's... interesting, Sunset.
So, were you expecting a dramatic scene where Sunset and Celestia start talking to each other?

Pity the writers didn't have a little more fun with those crushes. You could totally have written each of those little snippets in such a way that they didn't give away the gender of the crush, using tricky phrasing and names that work for both guys and girls.
I don't actually care about the orientation of the characters, I just think it would've been funny.
Re: Sunset and Celestia, you'll notice it doesn't say that Celestia has ever written back. I like to imagine that it's just Sunset sending loads of "I'm really, really sorry. PLEASE write back. PLEASE." letters.

When I first read Rarity's line that she knows that a certain little purple someone in Equestria has a crush on her, I thought, "Wait, they're implying that Twilight has a crush on Rarity?!" But then I remembered that Spike is purple. Anyway, yeah, it is disappointing that they went the bland routes for everyone's crushes. Although I like to think that Applejack's old friend Jonathan is actually Jonathan Joestar.
Incidentally, I read that the new Equestria Girls chapter book, Twilight Sparkle's Sleepover Surprise, revealed that SciTwi and Brad have a crush on each other too, with the story even emphasizing that Brad doesn't like her for her resemblance to Pony Twilight but because of her own qualities. Why are they still trying to make Bradlight a thing?

I think Twilight is more than capable of relaying a message to Celestia. But she hasn't had a friendship lesson about honestly, so clearly when Celestia can't be bothered to respond, Twilight responds as her.
Midnight Lament by Aurelleah. This is another one of those Celestia and Luna songs, but like usual, it's pretty good.
I posted a song from here before, but the A Little Bit for Charity account on YouTube has some interesting song remixes. Some are just weird, though, like "Behold, Princess Twilight Sparkle".
From "On Your Marks", someone tried to play Sweetie Belle's score. I hear that it doesn't even all the things necessary to make a playable score, so I'm not sure how close this actually is to it, but amusing nonetheless.
Remember that old parody of "Fireflies" by Owl City called "Fluttershys"? Here it is sung by Fluttershy (imitation).
From the former, odd things are Tirek being given more focus than Nightmare Moon, and I like Twilight's annoyed expression appearing by itself.
As for the latter, I actually kind of liked the story. Starlight overhears someone complaining about how they're doing the same task they always do, and she fears that they're getting tired of their talents (that's the dumb part), so she assigns everyone tasks they aren't used to. But in the process, the one skilled at that task helps the one assigned, so they all learn new things and have a good time. Starlight realizes there was a misunderstanding, but everyone's happy with how it turned out. Then the Wonderbolts appear for some reason.
Also, there are a lot of ponies in the background that are smiling like they're still in Starlight's cult.
And lastly, there has been a lot of fanart swapping mane styles, but I quite like this.
You can see a larger version at the link, or by modifying the URL to s2000 instead of s800. Twilight has her wings in the Nightmare Moon shot, but she's supposed to. It's a scene from "The Cutie Re-Mark".
Interesting article about bronies, notable in how it specifically covers how Utah has a disproportionately high number of them (didn't know this), and how some Mormon bronies connect it to their religion.
Rainbow Dash Presents is back! With "The Star in Yellow". The comedy is only decent, I thought, but the art is pretty good (given the art styles) and it's nice in general to have back.
Steamquestria has been canceled. Not a surprise, Egophiliac wasn't doing much with it, and honestly, the actual story wasn't interesting. It was always better as one-off doodles whenever inspiration strikes, and it looks like Ego will continue to do that.
Oh god, that's awful. I absolutely love Melodic's work, easily some of my favourite tracks to come out of the community. To go from a stroke at such a young age is truly saddening.
ED covers the new mobile game, Harmony Quest. The story initially sounds interesting, with Chrysalis attacking, but it turns out there isn't any story after the intro video. The gameplay reminds me a lot of the sort of thing you'd see on a Flash game on a TV network website. You know, like the MLP games the Hub website had. Surprisingly, it takes a lot of stuff from the comics. And it apparently also took fanart without permission.
Beloved by young girls around the world, Hasbro's My Little Pony franchise has been mired in controversy since its debut in the early 1980s. Critics dismissed the cartoons as toy advertisements, and derided their embrace of femininity. The 2010 debut of the openly feminist My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic renewed the backlash, as its broad appeal challenged entrenched notions about gendered entertainment.
This first comprehensive study of My Little Pony explores the history and cultural significance of the franchise through Season 5 of Friendship Is Magic and the first three Equestria Girls films. The brand has continued to be on the receiving end of a sexist double standard regarding commercialism in children's entertainment, while masculine cartoons such as the Transformers have been spared similar criticism. The high-profile fans known as Bronies are also discussed, covering the media's problematic reaction to them and the Bronies' response when the My Little Pony cartoons didn't conform to their expectations.
SF Debris reviewing more pony episodes: "Applebuck Season", "Sonic Rainboom", "Suited for Success", "Too Many Pinkie Pies", and "Keep Calm and Flutter On". I didn't expect to get another video so soon, since the last was in April. In terms of sci-fi-ness, the last two are definitely appropriate, and the second is a bit of a stretch, but I don't think the first and third fit. Still, I'd be interested in his response to the third. I won't be able to watch it right now, so I'll post/edit a response later.
OUT OF NOWHERE Super Ponybeat - Luna's Future. Honestly didn't think Odyssey was ever going to remix a new song from the show again, and that's worth a new post. As for the song itself, it's alright.
And since I made a new post, SF Debris' video was pretty good. I'm surprised he wasn't more critical of "Keep Calm and Flutter On"'s ending.

Doors 2, the sequel to that collaboration video of Twilight running through a bunch of doors and finding weird things. It's actually not as long as the video implies... it's just that there are actually three different Doors 2s in a row.
And a whole bunch of Andy Price art. Click for Twitter source, or modify the image source to have "full" at the end instead of "small". For stuff that may not be easily identifiable, one has human Sunset Shimmer as Dr. Strange (from Marvel), one has a pony Agent Carter (from Marvel), and the last has Trixie and Squirrel Girl (from Marvel).
