My Mom is a Slave

My name is John Locke.

My legs were lost to me several years ago in Los Angeles. My father paralyzed me when I confronted him over a murder he had committed. To discover myself, I attempted to go on a walkabout. But I was denied my chance to go. I had to take a flight back home. Oceanic Flight 815.

815 crashed on a mysterious island. And upon awakening after the crash, I could walk. I used my mobility to hunt boar, blow up everything in sight with dynamite, and punch heroic addicts. But after a couple of months, I was forced to leave the island to protect it.
I tried to find my long lost love, Helen, who had not seen me for years. I was too late. Now all I have left is the island.

I am not sure what the island is, or what our relationship entails, but I love the island.

Before this, I met with a friend named Richard Alpert. He told me I was going to have to leave the island, and that there would only be one way for me to return with my friends: I was going to have to die. And I will die.

Because this is my destiny.

Qui Gon and Darth Maul still make episode 1 better than the rest of the prequels.

Qui Gon is a terrible, wasted character. All that it does is reduce the role of Obi Wan Kenobi (whom the prequels really should have focused on). Without him it would have been 1000000000000000x better.

And I love Liam Neeson.

Qui-Gon lived up to his name in the subsequent prequels :lol

Not even a Force Ghost appearance or just a dubbed clip from previous movie or a name drop

Give it a few more years and he will add his ghost into Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope somehow.

Isn't there a scene where Jar Jar Binks almost gets sucked into one of the pod racers turbines or something? They should have gone with that:

"Hey Ani! Meesa want a waaaAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH...."

... followed by the sound of smashing bone, as gallons of blood, bone fragments and gristle gets sprayed out behind the pod racer in a 100 meter arc of gore and destruction.

Probably wouldn't have made the PG though.

Really the only thing that is good about that movie is that it has Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley in it.

Wait - Padme and Amidala were 2 different people?

Mind = Blown.

Paraphrasing the quote from that great Episode 1 review: "They should have taken Qui Gon and Obi-wan, combined them together, and made a new character... called Obi-wan."

The master and padawan get it on... it's a requirement to be proficient with force...erm THE Force.

The Force has everything to do with it. You see the Force of the Padawan informs the Master how much pressure he's supposed to apply. The Force's the name of the game. Right buddy?

The Visual Dictionary for Episode 1 does clear up a number of things:
1. C-3P0 and the podracer were built from junk secretly salvaged from Watto's junkyard and other places.
2. Watto won a bet against Gardulla the Hutt and got Shmi and Anakin as his reward. He is fairer than most masters and Shmi also earns extra money for other odd jobs.
How did the Podracer not get stolen immediately? That's like leaving a Rolls Royce unguarded in the middle of a ghetto.

Who do you think those other kids were? Clearly little Ani had formed a gang to protect his podracer.

I love OWV's threads. :lol

I don't have a dad. I was conceived by no event whatsoever. My mom, who is a slave, can't explain it.
No dude, she was porked by Sidious through TEH FORCE. Don't you know anything?

Midichlorians, etc., etc.

My name is Oh Dae Su.

My daughter was lost to me many years ago in Seoul. We lived together with her mother in a large, well-built house on a normal street. It had a workshop, several bedrooms and a nice dining room. I had a drinking problem, which often got me in trouble with the law. One night after being released by the police, I was abducted and held captive for 15 years.

This gave me time to work on my fighting skills. I can drive this hammer into the skulls of vast amounts of thugs. I often do this after eating live octopus. After those 15 years, I was suddenly set free. While dining on said seafood, I met a beautiful young woman named Mido who showed a kindness to me. We eventually became lovers.

I am not sure who she is, or what our relationship entails, but I love her.

I eventually met up with an old acquantince named Woo Jin. He explained to me how I ruined his life, and how it was him who captured and imprisoned me for 15 years - to get his revenge, which he was successful in doing. How so?

Because my Mido is my lost daughter.

WTF, do you want to ruin Oldboy for people? You should spoiler tag that at once. It's a damn good thing I already saw the movie.

The beauty of Oldboy was in the journey, not the destination.
