My Roommate is a maniac

I must say cleaning the oven after every use is pretty crazy, that's like washing bedding after every sleep.

I wipe down the stovetop after every use, just because it's easier to do it right after cooking rather than waiting a few weeks.

However I don't think I've cleaned the inside of my oven in a year sooo....

😳 Holy shit

This thread... Enjoy your undercooked, soggy pizza you nerds.

I put my pizza directly on the rack because I'm not a whiny little bitch.

If you're concerned about it melting over, put the baking sheet on the rack UNDERNEATH, so that it's not in direct contact with the pizza.

Also, OP, your roommate 100% has some form of OCD.

Your roommate is somewhat of a OCD dick. The clean the oven after every use is a bit overboard. I can see cleaning the stovetop after every use but the oven is going a bit too far.

Clearing the time off the microwave doesn't seem too bad for you?

That's insane

Seriously?
I do that without even thinking about it, and have since I was like 5 years old.
Who leaves time on a microwave without anything in it?

I can't tell who's being more unreasonable; Your roommate nitpicking about cleaning up, or you calling him a maniac because of it.

Yeah, the roommate might be a bit peculiar about some things... but the OP calling him a "maniac..."
Sounds like the OP either hasn't had many roommates to judge against, or has just been really lucky.

Honestly, i had a roommate like that.
he would put post it notes like take of your shoes before entering his room etc. (it's a freakin dirty school dorm) i left after 6 months and we're no longer friends.

it's not just the notes but his personality that got to me.

OP, though the 2 requests seems debatably ok/bad, it unless you can have your own cooking space, i'd move out too. before you leave, i'd get some bedbugs from the other thread and throw it on him.

Please be responsible OP, come on

Set the microwave clock like two minutes slow every day
Slightly unscrew the shelving in the secret room
Put the forks where the spoons go and put the spoons where the knives go

People who leave time on the microwave and don't clear it are the true maniacs. If it's not a big deal for the next user to just clear it, then why didn't the person who left it there just clear it themselves?

That pantry is craaaaazy town! Like WTF!? LOL

Passive aggressive notes are so annoying. Tell it to my face so we can have a discussion. This isn't a master & slave situation.

I'd like to think I'm not a maniac, but it drives me nuts when someone doesn't cancel out leftover microwave time too.

Same, I brought it up to me ex once and she started a gigantic fight about it and made a point to never ever cancel it

I wasn't even rude about it! It's the microwave equivalent of not putting the seat down

Because they're called HOT pockets and time is money

Haha, nice. She sounds like a keeper in my book.

I don't know why, but I'm fucking dying over here.

I honestly don't see what's the big deal about those except cleaning your oven after every use. That's a bit weird.

Op you should take five minutes everyday to slightly change the position of things in the apartment. Switch things around, slightly change the orientation of lamps, switch the sugar with salt, apples with oranges, that kind of stuff.

As far as 'maniac' roommates go, you're getting off pretty easy. Be thankful that all you get is a couple finicky requests that aren't very difficult to accommodate.

The oven request is too extreme unless you're actually junking it up after each use.

Just do the microwave time clearing though, honestly...I do look at my microwave sometimes for the time and it is kind of bothersome if someone left the timer on and I have to get up to clear it.

The pantry thing is downright insane tho.

Op, go buy a trash can. You live there.
Then hit the clear button on the microwave.

And to the oven fiasco. He probably just wants to keep it clean, but some people don't respond to request like that. They don't know what clean means. He doesn't know you. So the note is worded to do it every time you use it. All it takes is one time being a mess.

The cabinet thing is weird, but it's his house. It is his house right? You're not just renting from another renter?

Edit: op, are you mad about clearing the microwave, or mad that he asked you?

I would subtly fuck with him in a way he doesn't know it's you. This type of person would drive me crazy living with. Doing it back to them would make it at least a little better.

I did have a roommate once who was so damn impatient that he always opened the microwave when there were less than 5 seconds left, found out his food wasn't hot enough, and then put it back in for another minute only to open it again at 5s or so. Because yknow, those 5 seconds meant life or death.

In retrospect it was pretty annoying, but also I don't have that many fucks to give.

Nonsense, that molten lava will stay hot in the official crisping jacket long enough to hit the clear button and still burn your tongue.

I always hit stop at :01 and then clear it, because two little beeps are less annoying than one long one.

And yes, even without a crisping sleeve so your hot pockets are good and bendy, they'll give you those good heat blisters. :(

Y'all have never had an ex roommate tear out a hundred dollars worth of vegetables for spite, have you?

These things run deep.

If someone did this to me, I would reply.. "or what?"

Its not like they can legally evict you for not clearing the MW time lol.. fucking idiot.

Better than mine I suppose, It all started fine but he became quite the whiny person.
Let me walk in underpants goddamit, I dont care your gf is watching

I do this. The alarm sound is so annoying and I don't want it to ring. Mine is loud af.

If I had a roommate like that, just by nature I'd have to start doing small subtle mind games stuff just to drive him nuts. Like leaving little tiny pieces of lint on the kitchen floor that's really hard to spot, or reversing the toilet paper on the dispenser, or a teeny tiny small drip of urine on the upper part of the toilet bowl rim. Wouldn't be able to help myself if someone was that anal about everything.
