I was able to change to a regular gmail after pming a mod a few years ago when my college email expired

I had my e-mail changed to a free one. As someone mentioned, mods probably won't have objections unless you're known as a bad user

I changed mine to a Gmail when all our passwords got hacked. I haven't had access to my application email for like 5 years.

The mods did a thing a while back where they let us change a bunch of our e-mails to free ones due to this very issue. PM a mod and they'll help you out.

Yep. I was locked out for over a year. I had just changed my password to something I couldn't remember and my account email was from a friend's old business. She had deleted her website and those email addies years earlier.

I tried getting people's attention on the Facebook and Steam pages, but they acted like I was some kind of leper that must surely have deserved it and didn't want the same fate.

I thought I was screwed until literally the day before Christmas, 11 months later, when I noticed modus had become a mod and I remembered I had his email address. He had a higher up change it to my Gmail. It was a nice Christmas present.

You won't be able to recover your password if you forget it.

Glad my university offers an @alumni email. It was how I was able to register here in the first place.

That parts not true. If they force you to change your password, it simply does a password change, they don't lock the entire user base out until they perform some sort of email verification. They recently forced us all to change our passwords and email was not a part of that equation. (Because they initiated the password change and not you.)

My student email expired back in 2008. Luckily I never had a problem but I forgot about this fact until now, and would like to get it changed if possible. Thanks for the topic OP, all might have been lost.

Anyway, I'm sure asking a mod as others have suggested will work. My school email account doesn't expire, so I shouldn't run into any issues like that. It's actually my primary account now in general.

Hmm, I seem to remember requesting my address to be changed a while back (during that mod thing I guess), but it appears I did not. It still shows my old university address which expired YEARS ago. Oh well, better not lose my password!

Get your own domain name via Google Apps. 50 bucks a year and you never have this problem again. Bonus points, you get an actual professional email that looks much better in formal communication such as applying for jobs.

That's way too much for just a domain.

I registered on GAF as per the rules with a "paid" non free email address. Well... I've just been informed my college email address which I used to register with is set to expire at the months end and currently I don't really have a backup email address that's suitable.

I do have a comcast email if push comes to shove, but it's technically my folks and I don't want to muck up their email.

So GAF what are my options?

Mine doesn't, so I have it on a work email that forwards to another. It was my university account when I signed up, but that expired sometime after I graduated, so I had to change it.

Hoping to change it away from my work email, if possible.

I do now... Apparently I needed to migrate it, which they neglected to mention. Still would rather use another email.
