Actually, what it did was recommend/record E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial so I decided to watch it for the first time in years. Sure enough, the ending really got to me.

Weird thing is I can't figure out why. I mean, E.T. has got to be the goofiest looking waddling mound of phallic flesh ever depicted on screen and yet that final scene had me welling up with tears.
