FECK! Reading the horror stories of crappy refurbs being returned is putting me off sending it in.
Just in time for Christmas too ..
I am tempted to just buy a new one but why should I? Also, if I spend out and get another 360 the chances of getting a PS3 anytime next year are pretty much zero.
AAAAARGH! BOLLOCKS.

I seriously am beginning to think you have power issues in your house/dorm/apartment. That, or you have your systems sitting on a wine cooler. 5 X360's and 2 PS3's!!!Ramirez said:Thought I'd drop in and say my 5th 360 died, another good ole RROD, and it was an Elite.
<3 my luck.

Hey MS... I know you have people here reading the threads. If you sort nothing else out, SORT OUT YOUR DAMN REFURBS! (and give a new machine to anyone that has had more than 1 machine die on them)

The stats from this thread show refurb failure is a major issue.Maloney said:He kinda sighed and said not to believe the stories in the media/net. I told him I took such stories with a pinch of salt, until now.

I'm getting a similar artifact - but it's a vertical blue effect on the left of the screen. It's most noticeable when you get a blade on the left by pressing the guide button. Been doing it for a few weeks on and off.SickBoy said:I've seen a lot of checkerboards, but not this.... anyone encountered this? I think we're all heading to the same place...
Yeah, hopefully this will be the last one. I've been really hoping for 3 red lights so I get the extended warranty. If it dies without 3RLD that I'll lie and say it gets 3RLD - I'm sure they get lots that only do it intermittently.Surfheart said:Damn Bildi, another one? Guess I shouldn't be suprised.
Fuck!!!! I hope I get another native english speaker on the line. Oh well, MGS3, Zelda PH, and Okami should be able to tide me over. I better get this shit back before dmc4 comes out though.Dunlop said:Took 72 hours to get my coffin, just shipped mine out today. Hopefully I did not make a huge mistake as my DRE situation was just annoying but not all the time(just getting more frequent).
Let's see what lemon I receive.

You suggest they throw an in warranty machine in the trash or something? Perhaps sell all of their games and the repaired console for a massive loss instead?ManDudeChild said:A serious question: how can so many of you put up with these failures?
Lebron said:heh, my 2nd one just died after I tried to play the Turok demo. Hope I can get it replaced. Outside of the extended RROD warranty, the normal one has expired for me I believe. I've been messing with it since I'm bored, and noticed the thing doesn't always show the 3 flashing red lights when I turn it on. Sometimes it won't show any ring of lights at all(green or red). Other times it will start up and go to the dashboard and freeze, or freeze when I try and boot up a game. Then once it displayed this jibberish message or some crap with 2 flashing red lights. Right now it's back to the usual RROD though. I'm just worried that when it gets there it's going to act like it wants to work for a min, or show some other problem outside of the usual RROD, and they will say "oh no you don't" and send it back unrepaired. Should be fun:lol
Psychotext said:You suggest they throw an in warranty machine in the trash or something? Perhaps sell all of their games and the repaired console for a massive loss instead?
They put up with it because the only thing it loses them is time. I'd imagine it would be a different story if everyone had to pay for repairs (and even then it would be worth it to some).
Yeah, I pretty much think that everyone this happens to would be much better off selling all of their games and the repaired console.Psychotext said:You suggest they throw an in warranty machine in the trash or something? As did people when their PS2s stopped reading discs (or paid to have it fixed). Like I said in my post, some still will go out and buy another one / pay for repairs because they feel it's worth it to them.TylerPwnsYou1986 said:Before the 3 year warranty went into effect you had idiots that continued to buy the console after it took a dump on them. Do a search and you'll see.
That's your opinion, but I don't see it as much of a loss to take an hour to throw the machine in a box and post it.Time is far more valuable than money -- you can always make more money, but you sure as hell aren't going to make any more time.
No idea, but when my first one died it stayed at the repair center for like 2 weeks or so before they sent me a replacement. Anyway, I told them it RROD and they said they would send the box out today.Dunlop said:Just tell them you have the RRoD, do they even check? My understanding is they will just send out a replacement as soon as yours arrives, at least in Canada anyways.
Are you really going to disregard the sometimes week-plus time the box takes to get there? Or the time the machine is gone?Psychotext said:That's your opinion, but I don't see it as much of a loss to take an hour to throw the machine in a box and post it.
Yes, because you've lost none of that time. Unless you were talking about time that you can't game... in which case where did the "time is more valuable than money" thing come into it from? You could always do something else.Chemo said:Are you really going to disregard the sometimes week-plus time the box takes to get there? Or the time the machine is gone?
:lol
Uh... what? You've lost all of that time. We're talking from a purely gaming perspective here -- you're trying to veer off course and completely change the direction of the conversation because of my reference to time being important. I'm not going to play that game with you.Psychotext said:Yes, because you've lost none of that time. My question is this.. is it a KNOWN FACT that all repaired 360's returned to the owner have the extra heatsink and the 65nm cpu? Or what ever the new falcons carry under the hood.. do all repaired 360's have all these updated components? Just curious.. i have sent off my 360 to ms last week.. im prepaired to wait a month because i just got a new pc and crysis eye candy has me in awe at the moment.
