I don't follow. I personally couldn't think of anything more boring than a game with no challenge.

Games are a lot of things. Story, music, atmosphere, graphics, gameplay, weapons, cool stuff happening, imagination, creativity.
Is Half life 2 challenging? not at all
Are adventure games challenging? not at all
Is hogwarts legacy or Stellar blade challenging? not too much.
Yet me and tons of people love those games.
But even Souls genre, even though it is quite challenging, is SO MUCH MORE than pure challenge. That's why I love it.

Some like to try hard.
I played it since it was a mod and a great deal of CSGO, got to master guardian elite with a deaf ear. After that it got too mentally exhausting to play, I had my fill.
Now my Steam inventory is full of 100's of € worth of crates.

I get what you are saying but challenge is a large component of what makes them enjoyable to me.
Games that have skill and challenge as the main factor are the ones that I enjoy the most. Doesn't mean they can't have the other factors you mentions as well. But remove the skill and challenge and most game become boring to me.

This was actually an excellent video. I expect good videos from NakeyJakey, but this might be my favorite of his.
Got no interest in ever playing Counter-Strike, but it was very interesting to see someone getting deep into it and documenting their time playing it.
