Namco merging with Bandai

Will this mean more or less crappy generic anime video games?

Assuming they liquidate Bandai/Banpresto's entire internal development staff and expand Namco to compensate, it means better anime games.

Too bad, I was hoping for a Namco & Capcom merger. Bandai must be pretty afraid of Nintendo...

Too bad Bandai makes bad to average games only.
Bandai owns Cyber Connect 2, which makes some of the best games out there. Also Banpresto, which puts out decent stuff now and then.

No, I'm pretty sure Atari holds the rights to make the games. Bandai just distributes the games in Japan for them as a publisher.
No, it's just regional distribution rights. Both Atari and Banpresto have produced Dragon Ball games this gen.

Namco and Bandai will probably continue to exist somewhat independently under the same roof, in much the same way Sega and Sammy did. The new company will be called Bandai Namco Holdings.
I suspect Namco will just move into being the games unit, with Bandai's game divisions being gutted and Namco's name being used for wider appeal. Similar to the way Sega Sammy worked out.

Bandai did not buy Namco.
And Sammy didn't buy Sega. Also Enix didn't buy Square. ;)

this is all wrong. namco should've merged with sega, forming THE AWESOMEST GAME DEVELOPER EVER. then sammy and bandai could've merged, and made dragon ball pachinko machines or something.
