What's it called? Looks nice.Terrified on shudder that movie scarred me a lot I finished watching it at 1am,I had to dilute the creepiness with a comedy.

You were a way braver kid than me, then. Just seeing the VHS box cover of Child's Play 2 made me sleep in my older brother's room on the floor for a few nights after.Paranormal Activity and Hereditary are the only two movies to put me on edge as an adult.
Candyman and The Blair Witch Project were the only movies to put me on edge as a child.
'it follows' was fantastic, and a really cool, original concept
'the platform' wasnt super scary, but quite horrific imo
and im a sucker for anything in the found footage genre, so its not fair for me to include any of those.... but if i had an honorable mentions list, paranormal activity 3, VHS and cloverfield would be on there
Has anyone seen NOPE yet? looks good..
just finished watching the dark and the wicked. Good shit, surprised I missed this one under the radar. Genuinely creepy shit.
It Follows
the innkeepers
the woman in black 2012 movie
Hereditary and Midsommar.
These types of movies that develop from old cultural and religious sources which use horror to pull at deep neglected psychological elements like weeds and can break the fertile soil of the subconscious are among my favourite.
Annihilation for the way it appears to interpret crossing the veil of Paroketh to achieving Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel.
Dark Song. Similar reasons to the first three. The eerie sense of coincidences speaking messages was well used.
The Masque of the Red Death
Vincent Price's most sinister character.
Hereditary and Midsommar.

Midsommar was great but I don't really consider if horror in the sense that I did Hereditary. It felt much more of a thriller / intense drama to me, and although I loved the film and themes it was quite linear and one dimensional compared to Hereditary which rewarded rewatching.
The lead character was every dudes fucking worst nightmare asexual girlfriend, which was a horror in and of itself I suppose.
There are straightforward interpretations to be made from particular vantages to draw attention to one's favourite features.Midsommar was great but I don't really consider if horror in the sense that I did Hereditary. Hereditary, I found it rather nasty, not the kind of horror I like thoughI thought Hereditary was terrible
Now Midsommer was great horror
Annihilation was another great one. I am a huge fan of cosmic horror
A Dark Song was another excellent one. I thought the twist at the end was well done
Eh I felt that the boyfriend was more at fault in that relationship
What did you find wrong with Hereditary?I thought Hereditary was terrible

I can see that being a drawback for the experienced and perceptive viewer. It was predictable

I enjoyed that feeling as I identified with the cultists and felt like I was vicariously watching things unfold.
I have yet to see any cult / demonology movies that did it better than Hereditary... I don't think any exist beyond it at this point.
It's main value for me was the was it handled the mechanics of the moonchild and transmigration of the soul using the goetia against the psychological pressure experienced by the characters. The way it forces them to do certain things. Both Hereditary and Midsommar are valuable psychological horrors for their presentation of the source material for consideration.I was laughing at some really stupid stuff in the film too.
My favorite horror film is Rosemary Baby.

Rosemary's Baby is one that I should have put in that thread of well known movies that I haven't seen.
Intentionally bringing a particular otherworldly entity into the body of a human through sex.Moonchild?

Gerald's game is quite good
Regarding moonchildren: It would probably be shocking for some to consider the global scale that some occultists have been involved in with their experiments according to reliable sources.
That should be made into a movie.
I'm really a fan of horror movies.
I have an hard time just to name 5, so I'll name a few in no particular order, well maybe except for the first on the list which I consider the best ever.
The Exorcist
Jaws
Poltergeist
Alien
Hellraiser
The Night of the living dead
Evil Dead
The Conjuring
Rec
Company of Wolves
The shining
Badadook
Typhonian OTO, Kenneth Grant and Nema activities passed to me from Linda McFarlane. Can you say more in detail? I'm curious to learn more?
I am stunned by the use of the term "modern" in this thread, but within the last decade I have grown rather tired of the traditional slasher/haunting plot and have found more interest in thrillers often thrown under the same banner. Two such films come to mind:
The Wrath of God (2022)
A woman tries to convince a journalist that a famous author secretly murdered her family over a decade as vengeance for destroying his family with a sexual assault claim. The story unfolds in a manner that is captivating and the acting throughout is great (though I imagine some will throw a hissy fit at the ending).
* Change subtitles to English
here is another decent flick , i liked it
indeedI haven't seem Eric Bana in anything recent. He's a good actor
indeed
The Signal (2014)
A group of friends investigates an address found by tracing an IP address of hacker responsible for nearly getting them thrown out of MIT and end up being abducted by aliens. It just subverts all expectations with its twists and turns in a way that is stunning.
"It follows" is one of my favourite Horror movies ever. Great premise!'it follows' was fantastic, and a really cool, original concept

Thanks for calling this to my attention poster who first posted it, but I agree. They had the right idea, until the ending invalidated it all and I can only hope a sequel rescues it. It felt like a cop out and to meLast scene pretty much ruined the entire film
