I was curious about how often the moon gets hit by space junk and asteroid nuggets, and it was more than I thought:

Then I searched how much damage 7 pounds of TNT could do, and got this answer:

• It would likely cause limited damage, comparable to a small explosion or a firework.
• Such an explosion might break windows or cause minor injuries but would not result in significant structural damage.

In summary, while 7 pounds of TNT can produce an explosion, the damage would be minimal and localized.

So on earth, this doesn't sound bad, but in space where you have no atmosphere or margin of error, seems like a problem maybe? Especially if it's coming in fast and you don't see it.

By way of comparison, California alone spent 24 BILLION just to "combat homelessness".

So the entire moon program is cheaper than just ONE example of government graft and theft in the US.
