pretty good looking. On the level of 2k6, i'd say (at least in stills), though i like the look of 2k6 overall more. Seems more polished and a big more realistic. Where the fuck are the facial expressions though? And if Kobe ever did a fruity ass dunk like that in reallife i'd kick his ass.

I think the crowd and stadiums look excellent.

It's just the faces don't compare, 2K6 is far better in this regard. The bodies/proportions and jerseys look just as good.

Animation wise though, the physics based animations in 2K6 is going to make it look far better in motion.

These faces lack expressions which does make a big difference in our perception of either game.

These models look very close to the Fight Night Round 3 quality. Its all in the life like animation though so I'll patiently wait for the videos.

Not flamebait, but this looks better than 2K6 IMO. But as noted, the faces look more dead, especially the eyes. But the player faces look a lot more like their real likenesses than in 2K6. I just hope the normal map AI's corn rows. :D PEACE.

I'm having a problem with the crowd in both this game and madden. I mean, is it that hard to actually make the people in the crowd face the actual action?

Players are definitely not as aware or real as 2k6. That said, it looks pretty good. But wtf is up with the AI/Jason kidd pic. AI looks like an old depressed white guy, made of skin n bones. Jason Kidd, a rapist.

I'd go as far as to say that NBA Live looked better than NBA 2k6 while playing. The sweat in NBA2k6 just looks weird when seen from a distance. Like tiny white dots on the player's skin.

Faces would look more like their real life counterparts than 2K6's if it wasn't for EA's horendous skin shaders/lighting. Seriously, wtf EA? You can't possibly think skin looks like that?

The modeling of the body seems less accurate than in 2K6, and the muscle 'system' doesn't seem as impressive. On the other hand the polygon count is clearly superior to 2K6, especially noticable in the hands/arms.

Live has more accurate models and skin tones, especially the faces, but the entire game including the jerseys look more plastic and stiff. 2k6 looks more organic and some models look great, others look like evil twins from the sweaty bowels downsyndrome zombieverse.

Doesn't look as good as 2k6, but still looks great. Especially since they removed the skin cancer textures. Looks like they cured the "big head syndrome" too.

And what is up with AI's elbow?

But damn! the Jerseys look so hot!

That looks great. I haven't picked up an NBA game since 2k3, but these might get me back on board.

By next year these sports titles will be absolutely incredible.

I think what bothers me in this shot is Dampier is looking at nothing in particular (especially not Kwame), McKie is just standing there, and Kobe has an extremely blank expression on his face when he is dunking.

:lol

Gotta give EA credit here. I don't even like BBall games that much, and this looked hot in the gameplay videos that IGN has.

uhh...what?

When you are playing you aren't all zoomed in on the faces like you are here. It's the same thing with Madden. I have no idea why they go through the trouble of bump mapping a football that's so small it's not going to be noticeable in a normal gameplay camera angle.

The crowd and those lakers players sitting in the left corner are kinda bored aswell :(

Expressions are a part of hoops.. that is just the way it is.. and as things get more life like in games them not being there is a big lost.. even 2K6 for this gen has facial expressions

That is a good point about the expressions. Funny, because the crowd cheers and moves around in the gameplay vid when a shot is made.

They are not even watching the F'n game!

The NBA more than any other sport needs facial expressions. I believe some of the NBA2K games on Dreamcast had facial expressions for crying out loud.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Sure the jeresys look pretty good. The models still look a little cartoony for my liking and Kobe's legs looked messed up. Big time.

Ok, I'm not saying that they don't need any expressions, but it's probably not the biggest deal in the world. They could at least track the head movements to the direction of the ball or whoever they are defending though. I'm sure there will be some sort of expressions by release though.

I know the joke is going to be not bad, but worse, but

It needs some emotion engine!!!

Anyway, it's not only the expresion but the fact that they all seem to be staring to the infinite. I suppose that taking into account little details as sight direction might be hard to pull, but now it's noticeable, whereas with current gen I never found enough detail to appreciate it (that or the fact that I never played this kind of games).

From the videos I've seen I agree with you.
