NBA Live 360 screenshot (whoops, CG RENDER ALERT)

eyes schmyes. The Live target pic looks better in pretty much every way. The only downside it has is that there seems to be some kind of "haze" in the picture, like an explosion went off or something, so it doesn't have that superclean/sharp look as the 2k6 pics. But thats to be expected, as 2k6 is actual ingame, realtime models while this Live pic is just a render.

The shot technically out-classes the NBA2K6 shots... but I don't believe for one second it's actual gameplay. The 2K6 shots all look like in-game replay shots. This pic of Dwyane looks it could be, at best, a real-time cinematic with only him on the floor. I will eat my own poop if every player on the court has that kind of detail in-game. It's not happening.

I dont think it's CG, it looks a lot like the Ray Allen (Pistons vs Sonics) pics they released awhile ago that went along with the video. Up close everything looked good, but from a distance the game looked like crap, players had stretch armstrong arms and freakishly big hands, nothing really looked right.

Pic of Ray Allen from the older video:

Very similar to the Wade pic.

But the actual game looked like this:

2K6 destroys Live in IMO:

Actually those look pretty impressive. Also from the look of things it appears that ea has cloth physics too. LOVE the lighting in those!

One more thing, the rim appears to be 3d ring and not a flat looking ring like in the 2k6 shots.

I still see they kept that big ass kiddy rim from E3...

BEsides that graphics look pretty damn good.

i dont know, the color palette they use in live is totally different from 2k6. 2k6 looks much more lifelike and that was actual footage, these are just stills that EA released. ill reserve my judgements until i can see both live in person

-One area that 2k6 clearly dominates is the skin texture/shading. It simply looks real.

-Live on the other hand has an unnatural look to the player's skin. Though players in Live appear to be constructed from a few(maybe a lot) more polygons than their 2k6 counterparts.

Final judgement reserved till we can see live in motion.

Ok, heres the conclusion a friend and I came up with....

Live: looks more like a videogame..

2k: looks more like a real time photo.

Live Player Models are on the same level as 2k6 but live does have the advantage in player faces.............2k6's player faces are not close to the real players (ie. Shaq looking like KG.......ect)

The first pic posted looks amazing, but the gameplay shots has some aliasing issues, also looks like KG's kneepad has some clipping issues.

If your talking about the pic posted further up on this page, that's Gary Payton not Shaq.

Really, cause for facial models Live's Lebron doesn't hold a candle to 2K6's Lebron.

i would say those Live pics are about on the same level as 2k6. But 2k6 has the advantage because their player models actually look photorealistic, while Lives look more like prerendered, CG interpretations of real people (if that makes any sense). I think its all in the textures.

Ok, 2k6 in-game pics own these two, easily.

Which means, the original pic that started this thread is CG or a target render... cause it's way better (and easily on 2k6 levels) than these ^^ two in-game pics of Live 06.

{sigh} Am I gonna have to get both 2K6 AND Live?

I have to admit the new Live shots look pretty damn good. Not as good as 2K6 but still, it looks next-gen.

Yeah, actual in-game pics of Live look comparable technically to 2K game, and have normal levels of aliasing and realtime-ish looking lighting. That first picture was definitely very deceiving.

One thing you can tell between the two games by looking at the Lebron pic is the cloth physics. The jersey movement is much more noticable in NBA2K6. The jersey on Live looks pasted on.

The jersey movement is a bit over exaggerated in 2K,but eh whatever.

actually, not at all. Watch any sports and closely on TV and you'll notice that the jerseys actually move quite a bit more than that even.

(especially tennis, basketball, football (real football that is, not the american giant 2 hour commercial sleepfest, jerseys don't move while standing and lying on the floor, unless it's windy :D)).

Definitely a case of wait for video. I like the look of the lighting in the 2k6 shots, but have to admit the look of the models in Live are pretty damn nice as well. That and the court looks better, and probably has a nicer crowd to boot. EA hasn't completely embarassed itself here, although it looked like they would have after the first 2k6 pics emerged. Not bad for both teams. PEACE.

I've read Live 06 360 doesn't have a franchise mode at all. Not dropping 60 bucks on a bball game without a franchise mode. Looks like it'll be NbA 2K6 for the win.

You actually play franchise in bball games? You dont even like bball you douche.

2k6 uses better lighting I think (or some sort of weird filter effect) that makes the players and everything look more natural.

With titles in competition in certain genres, there will be a lot of changes in market share. I think 2K6 will eventually outsell Live

:lol :lol

You caught me.

EA has essentially cleared the court and started NBA Live from scratch for the next-generation systems. The first proof of this comes with its primary menu system and how quickly you're able to pick up the ball. In fact, you don't even need to start a game in order to start tossing the rock around. As soon as you press start, you're placed on something of a futuristic court with a set of basketballs and your player. The main menu is hidden down in the lower-left corner of the screen, allowing you to simply practice your moves before you even begin to think about the game type you want to step into. Three more of your buddies can join in at this point and with the system's open structure, you're free to make up whatever games you like. If you fancy a game of H.O.R.S.E., you can go ahead and get that started. A simplistic scoring system keeps track of the action if you want to get competitive.

Tapping the D-Pad will bring up the main menu where you can then choose to play a real game. Once you've decided what you want to play and with which teams, the game will load in the background while you continue to shoot around. Once the game is ready, your players are sort of beamed out Star Trek-style and the camera pans through a window and down onto the court. It's a seamless transition that you can continue to play through, essentially allowing for an entirely uninterrupted gameplay experience.

:lol Thats awesome.

I had a dead giveaway in my post that I was joking. Always so defensive. :)

I MUST PROTECT MY EA HOUSE!

NO FRANCHISE??WHAAA??

Anticipation for Live '06 360-1000.

And also, no superstar moves? This isn't NBA Live 2006. This is NBA Live 2003 with a graphics upgrade.

It's odd that they omitted the freestyle superstar stuff consdering Madden is keeping all of the 2006 additions and the franchise. The one thing that's enticing is the physics system they're implementing to avoid clipping through players and the ball. That's one thing basketball games have suffered from.

One thing thats drawing me towards NBA Live 360 is that its a brand new game, starting from scratch. NBA Live has NEEDED this for a long time, the engine (gameplay and graphics) it was on during this generation was showing its age....3 years ago!

ok, now you are just being an EA fanboy here...cmon man.....

What in the unholy fuck are most of you guys on around here?

I did not buy Live this year,I DID HOWEVER BUY 2K6,so would all of you please get it through your fucking dense ass heads that I do not care who makes the fucking game?Christ people.

The jerseys in that video fuckin moved like an ocean tide on the back part, looked like a water bed or some shit, don't tell me jerseys move like that in real life because they don't :lol
