John Michael Higgins as the professor who thought he was in Dead Poets Society is still like the funniest shit ever :lol

(just rewatched that episode)

I'll have... a birthday cake!

The show is too new and fresh to be resorting to these kind of cameos...and even if it was a cameo, he could've been better utilised to not be a caricture of himself. So yeah, it was all on purpose...but still... not that funny.

See, I definitely tend to agree with that. Now, I really like Jack Black, and I didn't necessarily mind that he purposefully sucked the funny out of that episode. The main problem I had was how much screen time he got and how the story sort of revolved around him.

Oh well, whatever.

I remember this guy from an episode of Frasier, and apparently he was in Seinfeld too.

Abed wasn't in his usual element this past episode yeah... but that's due to the Jack Black screen time and changing environment dynamic of having him work at the college newspaper.

Oh man, I think he was Elaine's boyfriend on Seinfeld who shaved his head. He was also Lettermen in The Late Shift.

I laughed really hard at this episode. Why people hate Jack Black so much is beyond me.

I wonder how well this show would do if we didn't have Alison Brie as Annie. I am not saying the show would suck that much without her, but it seems she is the main draw for a lot of people here and this thread.
Am I the only one here that was drawn in by Joel McHale? (Love The Soup.)

Medalion said:
The reason people kept coming to this show was the GIFs of Alison Brie on this board, ya gotta admit.
They've definitely played a big part in bringing people aboard. I think my thread title helped too. :D

Pretty sure the only reason anyone watched the first episode was because of Joel McHale. All the previews were beyond horrible.

If anything he would have been the reason I passed over the show.

I didn't even watch any of the previews, but I did watch Community from the beginning because of McHale.

It's really great to know that the show turned out as well as it did. Now let's just hope that it can keep on running like this.

As for this past episode, I'm actually surprised that not many people liked it. I'm very far from a Jack Black fan but I still found the episode as entertaining as any others so far.

Has anyone seen Acceptable.TV (Dan Harmon's show that was on VH1 before he did Community)? I just bought all the episodes from Amazon VOD.

Watched for McHale, stayed for the funny.

Jack Black aside.. one could say the big thing to the show is having a comedic veteran Chevy Chase as a regular...but who doesn't hog or necessarily overshadow the others on the show...when he easily could. Ensemble group.

From the brief promo, I think Britta and Annie are wearing tights during a school production this week

Thread going to implode

I thought the thread would implode from the cheerleader bubble fight, but it was such a short scene :(
I'd be fine with tights though. Especially if Piece wears them too and everyone gives him funny looks :lol

The show must always tease, but never deliver... that's how they hook us suckers... erm loyal male viewers... and some female viwers :P

I showed it to my sister a week ago, she loves it :lol

I wish Hulu would start over from Episode 1. I want to watch this show all the way through, not in little episodes here and there.

No Senor Chang from the Pilot makes it automatic fail.

The characters were still being developed, particulary the side characters not Jeff nor Britta. Abed was more energetic and almost hyper, in later episodes he's a lot more chilled.

Half the comedy is built on you learning the characters and their nuances and slowly getting better at recognizing the more subtle stuff they weave in under the big plot. It's way less fun if you don't start at the beginning.

Ok, so 2 days ago Costanza told me about Community. Since then I've watched all 13 episodes 3-4 times each. I legitimately can't get enough of it, and I hope I don't overdo it.

"No, THIS is a joke. Don't eat the crab dip, yea-yeah!"

Highest ratings of the night for NBC.

Was it just me, or was this past episode the worst episode of the season? I think it's just from my Jack Black hate, though.

I like Jack Black and didn't like it that much either. Something felt... off, I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong.

I love the way Annie raises her eyebrow there.

...too weird?

Of all things to notice about her... you noticed her eyebrows? :P

Wow... this thread has hit all new heights (or lows) of obsession :lol
