Actually, I had made my own version of it.

Great episode yet again. I'm glad they got over that small post-christmas lull, the show's been better than ever the last few episodes.

This episode wasn't as great as last weeks but was solid nonetheless. Seeing Jeff get manipulated by Annie was great, but the highlight was Britta and Troy's Nana. The spanking had me busting a gut :D

This was clearly a Chevy Chase episode, he had so many good lines. And the Britta spanking scene weakened my hatred towards her, I hope TEAM BRIE doesn't demote me =(

I've watched the first four and the most recent and haven't really laughed at all. I'd be glad to watch one, what's the best episode?
I think you chose a bad episode to give it another go. The latest was the probably the weakest all season. Lots of jokes fell flat for me. This was in comparison to the last few weeks which had me consistently laughing out loud.

It would be best to watch from where you first left off. If it doesn't click for you by episode 8 or so, i don't think it ever will.

Weakest of the season?

You get the opposite of indeed with that statement.

Good episode...certainly it seemed a little weaker than the last few weeks but still good.

This was Team Britta's week.
Team Annie represent!

Another hilarious episode. This show should get cancelled then quickly move to ABC,
then I'll never have to watch NBC again but whatever.

McPhee = teh hot.

I thought she looked a lot worse that way. Not bad. Just worse than smoking hot.

I didn't really care for McPhee one way or the other. She didn't seem to be getting the drive of her character... she came across as kind of bland.

GQ: I have two key questions about the content of the show. For those of us who watch religiously, we know that there's this button at the end of every episode; which is usually some kind of riff involving Danny Pudi (Abed) or Donald Glover (Troy). There's a whole cult around those now. How do they happen?

McHale: That's funny. Tomorrow, we will be shooting those all day. Most of them are written. But the ones that aren't story driven, that aren't part of the plot, which is most of them, involve a lot of improvising. It was after the rap one that was like the second or third episode, where Abed and Troy rapped, that made people go through the roof and so then there was a conversation where NBC said, 'Do that every week!' 'You know that we're over budget, right?' 'We don't care!' 'Great!' I love the last one, where they're playing Ernie and Bert. And Troy's character goes, "My cousin's funeral is today!" That was improvised, that shows you the brilliance of Donald Glover. The other thing is, we get these scripts, and they're 40 pages long!

GQ: Jesus. For all you sitcom-script novices out there, that's insanely long.

McHale: Right! We gotta cut 18 pages every time! So some of that can be reused, but of it they start compressing and pushing it all in as much as they can, and it ends up usually working, but as you say, it's like that crazy huge, like lasagna in Big Night, when they cut that thing open, it's just so much is packed in there. [beat] That's a horrible analogy.

New Joel McHale interview from GQ. Short, but has some interesting information for fans.

I thought last night's episode was merely average by Community's high standards, though still great when weighed against sitcoms in general.

The Pierce-Jeff scenes were great. The pictionary scene was legendary. The more Chang the better. I hope we get to see more about his family.

Count me as a member of Team Katharine-McPhee's-short-hair.

Moment of the night was Shirley pulling back the burka to reveal both of her sons.

I think the show is kinda like AD where you need to watch the episodes in order to really get into it. Just jumping into a random episode is a bad idea.

Very true, which made it weird that they seemingly reversed the order of Basic Genealogy and Physical Education.

In last week's episode we learned about Leonard's gambling problem, a revelation that was apparently revealed during the family visit that had not yet happened. Plus, had we had the context of the break-up in Basic Genealogy, the billiards-flirting in Physical Education might have been expected and more easily accepted.

I guess I understand, though.. they probably just wanted to come out swinging strong after the olympic hiatus and opted for the slightly stronger ep.

GQ: Am I allowed to say that I'm kind of on Team Annie in terms of your character? Is that still in play?
McHale: Well, she's 18 and I'm supposed to be like 36. So, um, if you want. But it might say more about you. There have been all these web sites that come up, like if you go to Youtube, and type in Community Annie and Jeff, people have spliced all our footage together and put it to music. There's even a website called, "Fuck yeah, Annie and Jeff." It's crazy. But, to be fair, my character has basically been getting together with every woman that walks on the show. [beat] My wife was like, "This is awesome. You're being paid for this!"

GQ: You married well, my friend.
McHale: Yeah. And as far as Annie? You'll see. That's all I'll say.

After a more Britta-centric episode, balance has been restored.
As someone who never watched Idol, I will say that I finally see the appeal of Katherine McPhee.

I don't watch the show that often, but caught last night's episode. Between the blonde getting spanked by her friend's grandmother with him crying and Joel McHale and Katharine McPhee walking in, I was in tears laughing.

I'd definitely snag a season one set of this show.

Not enough mentions of the random cop in last night's episode. His asking Mcs Phee and Hale if coffee was, in fact, code for sex was way funnier than it should have been.

I died after the cop's line about the word windmill in Pictionary. It was a great way to cap off that scene.

The second time I watched that scene I noticed that windmill is actually visible earlier, but the cop's appearance was still appreciated.

Needs to be noted they did go up against the first half hour of American Idol.

That episode was hilarious. The scene with Britta getting beaten with a switch while Troy cries was hilarious; Donald Glover is so awesome. I seriously don't understand how somebody could think that this show is not funny; it's one of the funniest shows on TV today, along with It's Always Sunny.

señor chang: "hey phantom menace, how's the trade embargo with naboo?"

i laughed wayyyyy too hard at that line :lol

The joke suggests to me that either Chang is a closeted Star Wars fan or that he just has a mental Rolodex of offensive jokes to pull out based on the context.

Also, the dean's "And to both of you, sayonara" was just sublime.

Britta was great here, but Jeff and Annie still had their moments together with Jeff acknowledging that she has power over him because he hates disappointing her.

I prefer Katherine McPhee's looks during/shortly after American Idol, but she looks nice with short hair, too. She's like Ari's assistant/Eric's first girlfriend on Entourage.

This is her first foray into acting isn't it? That could defintiely explain her lack of emotion or good acting skills. Good episode though, and I'm very glad this got a second season.
