It looks almost out of focus compared to the previous stuff I've seen.DMczaf said:http://s29.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3GRXA1IIK6TP62JC49E8TX1LNA

The bloom is on the car. Am I blind? Is that something else? It sure doesn't look like glare to me, but I'd gladly be wrong. Every fucking next-gen game coming out looks to be abusing bloom lighting. UE3 and its hellspawn seem to be the #1 offenders in this regard.Shogmaster said:Where the fuck is bloom lighting in that shot? I only see HDR shading. If that was a PS3 game shot, you would be finding some esoteric reasonings to praise it's looks.
You're so fucking transparent Duane, so stop pretending to be objective. :lol
Again, WTF did I say about the 360? Holy shit, it's not like bloom lighting is only possible on the 360. Hell, even the PC will have problems with it. When I bitched about the excess of DOF last gen, no one called me a DC/Xbox/GC hater for it. I bitched about lense flare the gen before that. There are some effects that devs get ahold of, and can't restrain themselves from using to excess. If bloom lighting isn't one of them, I will be a very happy camper. But from the looks of it, IMO, it's gonna be used like no tomorrow. PEACE.PanopticBlue said:Not much bloom lighting in that pic at all... some people are just a little too anti-xbox for their own good. Go troll a DS thread or something Duane.

And this has nothing to do with the 360. For one, this game is probably gonna come to the PS3, as well as every other system under the sun. It's not like EA is exclusive to anyone. They are portaholics. And I think I've gushed over GoW plenty. The game looks bad to the ass. I don't think the 360 is at all the reason for the abuse of bloom lighting. The problem is gonna affect every system this gen IMO. It gives games this bright, glowing look that just doesn't sit well with my eyes. PEACE.
Shogmaster said:Then perhaps you should be more careful with the term "Bloom lighting". There's way too much interchanging of "bloom lighting" and "HDR" lighting.
I consider something like below to be "bloom" lighting.

Pimpwerx said:HDR just extends the range of colors you can use. But the top surfaces of the car, from the hood to the rear quarter-panel have a faint aura over them, which reminds me of bloom lighting. HDR just lets you mix bright, brights with darker colors without running out of precision. Ditto the rook of the building in the bg. Looks like there's that damn aura there too. Looks like this:

But, I don't mind being wrong. If it's just HDR without any bloom, then that's fine. But those objects look look like they're glowing to me. PEACE.

So long as I'm not completely crazy.Datawhore said:If I'm not mistaken, the slightly blurry effect is caused by the use of bloom and tint shaders. You can tune them in such a way that you'll get this effect.
The roof of the building in the background which is overly bright is an example of bloom.

Neither. I did post as KiiLA on usenet a decade or so ago, though. PEACE.rs7k said:Duane? The famous Charles Duane (or Doane?) from Usenet?
That'd be terribly unlikely, I would have picked it up by now. Besides, YEAH 420!
