The auto-brightness "feature" on my TV is driving me absolutely nuts when playing PDZ. It's so not subtle that I really notice it changing all the time. I can't stand it anymore. And of course there's no menu item to turn it off, so I'm guessing there's an option somewhere in the service menu, but I can't find it either.

My TV: Sony KD34XS955

So can anyone help me find the service setting that controls this? Or can someone point me in a direction where I could find help? Surely there's a website out there with that kind of info... or forums for TV nuts where people could help me.


Also while I'm at it: Why is it that the contrast in Kameo and PDZ is absoluetely insane? Dark colors are way too dark. I have to set my Picture (contrast) level lower than my Brightness level to have something decent.

Uhh, did you try switching to "Pro" mode (or whatever it's called). They have several pre-made settings that you can toggle through...and those settings do MUCH more than simply adjust those sliders you see in the menu. On some of those modes, that "auto brightness" you are referring to is enabled. On Pro, all of that bullshit is turned off.

Switch to that mode and then adjust from there. Of course, it's also possible that your set might be different...but hopefully this is all you need to do.
