Anyone know of another country, or part of the world, in which female body issues aren't a huge deal? A place where less emphasis is placed upon looks of women, where there aren't as many eating disorders, where they dig fat chicks. I dunno, anything like that.

I have to do a final term-paper on Body Issues for my Gender & Philosophy class, and there is a bizzarre requirement to shoe-horn in a multi-cultural element to it.

To anyone who thought this topic would be about me bringing my relationship, or lack-of-relationship problems to the board, hahahahha!

For an older feminist teacher, you gotta switch angles a bit. You need to come at her as intelligent, get to know her with small talk and the occasional witticisms during and right after class, and THEN ask her out for coffee to talk about "an academic issue". That's when you hit her with the cocky & funny & LITERATE.

Take your pick in just about any 3rd world country women dont have nearly as many eating disorders or hang ups about having the perfect body/shape/weight as in the civilised world. The men and women living there are more concerned with a healthy and strong woman that can endure the hardships of daily life and the men want someone who will be good breeding stock.

That being said I'll take a super model over some good breeding stock anyday! :lol

This reminds me of when Christina Ricci was on SNL and they did a "Who wants to be a millionare" spoof where it was like winning dinner and she played this russian girl. She got up to the high questions where she could win a goat but then they asked her to name what eating disorder they described and she was like "wait I don't understand... they have food, but don't eat it?"

Well, you could argue that it's easier to be an ugly/fat chick in the parts of the Arab world where covering up completely is mandatory.

Otherwise, I think you'd have to look at tribal communities in Papua New Guinea, Borneo or some such place, though I'm sure they still have standards for judging beauty, just different standards.

Why don't you look at history? Look at all the classic artwork done throughout history. Fuller bodied women WERE the symbol of perfect beauty. Michelangelo, da Vinci, ....etc. It's all fat people. Fat fair skinned people, seeing that only poor people were skinny and had to work out in the sun all day....etc. Look it up yourself, you'll find a lot of interesting facts.

Yeah, there's a particuar tribe(s) in Africa that have females put on 20 lbs in a short period where all they do is sit and eat fatty foods. Sorry for the vagueness, but I'm working off a news report I saw years ago that probably didn't explain things in a whole lot of detail either.

Sweeden? Switzerland? I know they've got a metric assload of "fat" chicks over there that everyone loves. I know I'd rather have a slightly chubby Swiss or Sweed girl than some skinny popsical girl from the US.

Back in the day (hundreds of years ago), fat women were attractive because they were well fed. Skinniness meant you were poor.
