Drive partition logic seems to be
(1) put windows or your prefered OS on it's own physical drive and partiition
(2) put applications on their own seperate partition, if not on their own physical drive
(3) put media on its own drive partition so that it may be defraged and organized according to the media type. Video editing, for example, is very taxing and neecs its own physical drive for speedy write/read times. The same goes for Photochopping and 3D modeling
(4) RAID if you can afford it. I cannot.
(5) give drives their own controller card, offloading the work from the motherboard's chipset
Correct me if I am wrong on any of these, and feel free to add numbers 6, 7, 8, 9, et al.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Also, media boy here (me) will need more space circa next month and will replace his main 160GB with something larger OR will be adding another drive to the current configuration, totaling three drives. If adding a third drive, me (media boy) must dremmal fan slots by the hard drives to cool them more efficently. Before that happens, the best deals on space should present themselves. Inform me as to the best deals on space, please.
