I've officially played more games in 2005 than I've played in any other year.

But I have to grab one more game.

Platforms

-Xbox 360
-PS2
-Gamecube

Front-Running Candidates

1) Dragon Quest 8
2) Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
3) God of War
4) Dead or Alive 4 (single player, offline)
5) Call of Duty 2 (single player, offline)
6) Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
7) Devil May Cry 3 (I've played but would buy at a lower price)
8) Soul Calibur 3 (single player, but keep in mind that I enjoyed 2 quite a bit the same way, just not at 50 bucks)

And older stuff exclusive to the Playstation 2 that's not one of the following:

-Dark Cloud 2
-ICO
-Shadow of the Colossus
-Tekken 5
-Jak and Daxter
-Katamari Damacy
-Klonoa 2
-Shadow Hearts Covenant

and is not:

-Racing
-Stealth
-Sports of any kind
-Military-related

Favor:

-Deep
-Fun
-Customizable
-Lengthy (if possible)

Thanks. Also, I could probably buy two less expensive games for the price of one full-priced game.

If you can stomach another long RPG, DQVIII is a lock. I'd also try God of War. Those are definitely the high points that I've tried from your list (excluding 360 games).

Disgaea is longer, deeper, and more fun than any of those games.

Well, not as fun as God of War, but the other two apply.

Dragonquest or Fire Emblem.

God of War = Overrated.

I would have suggested SotC, but that's out of the question.

The problem with shorter games is that I'm getting through the action games I like far too quickly these days. That's why I've turned to RPG's.

But recommend anything on the PS2 basically.

I suggest Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

Then Dragon Quest VIII (as of now, but it's really fucking good. really fucking good. Actually feels like what Zelda might be like if it were an RPG).

God of War is good, but might go a little fast. On the other hand, Fire Emblem takes forever to beat AND it's awesome. Fire Emblem FTW.

I picked up Fire Emblem today. I'll probably get Disgaea or DQ8 when I Walmart my copy of Need for Speed Most Wanted.

On another note, Gamestop is giving crap for trade-in values now!

Yep. I traded in 4 DS games (Kirby, Spiderman, Episode III, Meteos) and 2 GC games (Madden 2006 and Batman Begins) and got 53 fucking credit dollars. They were selling a used copy of Batman Begins for $35.00.

I am cry.

I'd pick DQ8 over FE anyday, Speev.

The fact that I finished DQ1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and am halfway through 7 while only sampling one FE game doesn't help either :lol

No mention of Guitar Hero, for shame GAF? I still haven't played DQVIII (I will one day), but Guitar Hero is the funnest game I own for the PS2 currently.

Period.

My suggestions are for...

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones

Need for Speed: Most Wanted

I'm loving them both. Also, SotC rocks if you haven't played it yet... I'm currently on Colossus #11 and this game owns me!

You guys are too fickle with your suggestions. I'll end up getting DQ8 eventually, since I try to play everything at least once.

In all likelihood I'll be getting it very soon.

Guitar Hero sounds fun...but I don't really like the idea of playing the guitar. Sorry. :/

I would say DMC3, but didn't you say you already bought it at some rental store?

Okay, here's the situation.

I have $55 in an online gift card.

This is enough for any regular release or two smaller ones (if you include shipping).

Regular release:

-Dragon Quest 8

Less Expensive Releases (two of these):

-Final Fantasy X
-Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal (rented Deadlocked and I'm digging it so far)
-Gradius V
-We Love Katamari
-La Pucelle Tactics

Dragon Mother Fucking Quest V to the triple I
It's just that fucking good.

I vote for the combination of 2 of these 3, one lengthy story-based RPG, and one shooter or platformer for pick up and play sessions. IMO, these three are all top-notch choices.

I love FFX to death, but I'm just so pumped full of DQ and schnapps right now, it's hard to deny how much great DQ is. I've put 68 hours into the game since I got it on the 15th of November, AND I work 40 hours a week and have a semi respectable life outside the house. DQVIII has sucked up my gaming time total. (My 18 hours of FFIVa in the past week have been from playing in the crapper at home and work.)
If you want a big ass epic RPG, DQVIII all the way.

Speaking of GameCrazy, help a brother out!

Any more DQ8?

Hmm. I haven't really checked. My instinct would be to say no, but then again, all the GC's around here still have at least one copy of DDS1...

Speevy - you talkin' to me?

Nah, I was talking to RevanantKioku

I think what I'll do is Walmart that copy of Need for Speed Most Wanted (360) for Dragon Quest 8, and buy FFX and Ratchet and Clank.

I have a feeling that missing any of these would be a shame since I own a PS2.

Now a true winner is you!
Personally, I'd go for almost anything over a R&C game, but that's just me. You win on the other two choices in my book.

Awesome, Speev. I'm confident you'll enjoy it if you like turn-based RPGs at all.

A little bit of leveling is required at the beginning, not as much extra leveling later on.
