Guilty Crown
Yondemasuyo Azazel-San
Deadman Wonderland

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon
Level E
Cube×Cursed×Curious (didn't want to delete all this after it was demoted to HM)
An intriguing show with a bipolar focus. It deceives you into thinking it's a generic harem and then BAM, it becomes Soul Eater with a darker tone. Some crazy Shaft art style shifts, a godly OST, surprisingly competently animated fight scenes, and the most tolerable Shana clone yet. Surprise of the year!
10.
Dororon Enma-Kun Meramera
So there's this dude called Go Nagai. He's pretty much the most insane fucker you'll ever meet (if you actually do meet him, RUN). So some dudes decided to remake one of his most insane works for modern audiences, which are also pretty insane. The result was a completely off the wall comedy/action show absolutely DROWNING in BADASSERY. It's sexy, it's demented, it's random, and it has FIRE!
9.
Sket Dance
At first glance it's Gintama lite. Then the jaw dropping episode 25 happens and it retroactively becomes genius from a psychological standpoint. Of course the show is mainly about high school antics, and it does that very well too. The Sket Dan is so silly!
8.
Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka
Make a kitchen sink-like harem, make them all douchebags, have the main character become a zombie, and throw in some FUCKAWESOME fights. This is the rule of cool: the anime. You got chainsaws, zombie magical girlboys, vampires, serial killers, bladeless fans, and silent necromancers. It covers all bases!
7.
Mirai Nikki
An intense, psychological romp through a world where anyone with a shred of sanity left won't have it for long. Starring the frontrunner of the yandere (link to tvtropes page) personality, Yuno! Suspenseful, shocking, generic review tagline word #58006, intense! There's never a dull moment for the diary holders.
6.
Gintama'
The Odd Jobs crew returns for more hilarious self referential humor, destroying the 4th wall and looking good while doing it! This time, the occasional serious arcs are better than ever and the humor is just as witty and a thousand times more crude.
5.
Kaiji Season 2
The crybaby gambler is back in his most intense adventure yet! Falling into the pits of debt despair one more time, he must put his future and life on the line several times just for a moment of relief. Mind games and zawa abound, this is one non-stop rollercoaster that will have you at the edge of your seat.
4.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
What happens when the guy that wrote the most disturbing visual novel of all time decides to do a magical girl series? Despair. Lots and lots of despair. A deconstruction with great atmosphere and some effective tone shifts. Urobuchi is a master at taking a magical, colorful world and filling it with his own demented brand of sadism.
3.
Steins;Gate
An intelligent Sci-fi thriller with a completely mind blowing time travelling story and masterfully executed twists. The character development is nearly flawless and the protagonist becomes one of the most sympathetic anime characters I can think of. I was hit by a flurry if different emotions with each passing episode after the somewhat slow beginning. If there was something to convince me to check out the VN, this is definitely it.
2.
Tiger & Bunny
A story about multicultural super hero bros with a surprising amount of mainstream appeal. A feel good show that is as badass as it is heartwarming. I did not dislike one character, which is an incredible feat. With so many relatable characters covering multiple demographics and a standard but well executed plot, this is a show for anime fans that may have fallen out of the medium in the past few years.
1.
Toriko
Take a large chunk of
Fist of the North Star, marinate it in your biggest tub of
One Piece, sprinkle on just a dash of
Yakitate! Japan, and bake for 3 hours in your local volcano. In the world of Toriko, only 3 things matter: eating, adventure, and most importantly,
MANLINESS. With incredible fights both strategic and straightforward in nature, an "epic" adventurous OST, fantastic whimsical locales, and a cast of likable characters, Toriko has everything a grand adventure fighting series should.
