apparently TvC Wii sticks are on sale for $29.99 at bestbuy (doubt it applies to canada :/)

As you know they are the "revised" SE sticks so it's a pretty decent deal.

EB is the exclusive retailer for Mad Catz in Canada. BB and FS do not sell their products up here.

thanks akuma001

I'm looking to buy an HRAP2 for PS2 like the one pictured above.
PM me if you're selling.

I have HRAP V3-SA for PS3 or HRAP EX for 360 if you are interested in a trade.

Got my 360 to PS3 Converter in today! :D

Tested it out with a few different controllers as well as some different games.

Controllers tested:

1. Mad Catz TE Round 2 Stick
2. Mad Catz SE Stick with Sanwa JLF/OBSFs
3. Hori EX-2
4. Mad Catz SFIV Controller (Flowchart Ken version :P)

I tested them using SFII HD Remix and Scott Pilgrim...

IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!! :D

Now I'm by no means a pro fighting game player, so take this with a grain of salt for tournament use but I could feel absolutely difference in navigating the XMB or with inputs in the games. Couldn't really feel any lag during inputs in HDR either. It registered all the stick and button inputs right away. 360 Guide became the PS Button and so on. I'm thinking of picking up a wired 360 controller now and giving Uncharted a replay.

Looks like a very solid investment for those who didn't want to mod their sticks to play on PS3 with their 360 sticks.

For those that are tournament players or pro theory fighters on the SRK forums, I'd probably look for a test done by Markman or someone in the know on how to calculate lag.

Time to double dip and pick up Super and Continuum Shift for PS3. :D

i herd it has lag tho. confirmed on srk etc.
Probably does have a degree of lag, but I'm not a tourney player, just want to play casually with my PS3 owning friends/family. Also, I wanted to play Scott Pilgrim with a stick.

Works great for my needs, advanced fighting game players would probably from installing a PS3 board like a chimp or chthulu.

So I finally decided I'd like to get a stick. Just one that's great out of the box, the whole customizing thing seems a little over my head. Did I miss out big time with that Mad Catz deal that was a week or two ago? Any chance something else great like that is coming up? And what is the best stick, the tournament edition round 2?

Wait til' next week if you want to take advantage of the MCZ deal.

Special deal on the Chun-Li stick next week!?

O:
So I want to order that. Does it come with the girl? :P
My old generic PS2 to PS3 converter doesn't work anymore that I got from circuit city a few years ago. Oh well, hardly ever used it anyway.

so for shits and giggles i performed the ultimate jlf mod on my stock madcatz SE stick.

Just the paper in the microswitches though, i didn't put tape on the actuator.

immediate difference was that the engage distance got a lot shorter, something that i really liked. problem was there was a bit of deflection (flicking left activated right because of spring recoil and an oversensitive microswitch), fixed that though.

I had always been set on eventually upgrading the stick to a JLF, but since doing this mod i'm not too sure anymore. The biggest thing i liked was the shorter engage distance, which is apparently something the seimitsu does better.

so now i'm torn on whether to get a JLF or a LS-32 for my stick. I don't want to spend money on a stick i don't like, and i've never tried either (all i've had is this one and the JLW with the looser spring from the Capcom SNES stick). I feel like the safer bet is the JLF (everyone uses it so i might as well get used to it even if i dislike it) but i don't want to miss out on the Seimitsu if it really would suit my tastes better. Unlike the buttons (even the stock madcatz buttons are passable), the stick does have a bit of an effect on my play.

I want a stick with short engage distances, but ZERO deflection. I am a person that "flicks" the stick, i don't want recoil to make the opposite direction register.

Which to use?

Threi,

I've got an extra LS-32 that I can donate if you want to give it a shot (bought it for my last stick, which won't take it). PM shipping details if you want it.

Sad little guy wants to be loved (has the black ball as I've used the deep pink):

The LS-32 overall has a very similar feel to a JLF (little resistance/quite loose) when it comes to fighting games, so I wouldn't worry too much about getting used to one when the majority of sticks have JLFs. Yes, it has a bit more tension in the spring, slightly shorter engage/throw distances, but when compared with a JLW or anything with harder springs, it feels an awful lot like a JLF to me... to the point that I can go between the two without any hassle. *shrug*

If SHMUPs are a consideration at all, go for the LS-32 hands down. If you're only looking to play fighting games, then... still go with the LS-32 since your preferences are pointing that way.

Plus, Yes Boss! is kindly offering you a free LS-32 so... yeah. :P

okay I preordered the HRAP2 SA reissue from Horistore through tenso.com, so I'm covered. Thing doesn't come out until December so I figured It's a Christmas gift to myself.

edit: YB! is such a class act.

Damn,

Tempted to try tenso.com to grab one of those blue-button Amazon-exclusive Hori sticks. Seems they get replenished on the eighth of next month.

Anyone up in here able to do dual mod in the capital region of NY state? I have all the parts, I just don't have anyone with a high level of soldering ability that's required for the smaller connections. I'd get the converter, but I already bought the ChImp board for my x360 stick...
that and I'd worry about the shenanigans Sony is pulling now with blocking third party stuff via software update.

They should really just make a dual mod stick. You listening MarkMan? I'd have shelled out another 60+ for the ability to use it on both platforms and avoid the hassle of finding someone to help me out.

I'm pretty sure that's an issue due to licensing.

However...

I think I may go ahead and order one of those custom dual modded sticks from the bros at SRK (thanks for the heads up on that place, btw). I'm a novice player and probably don't deserve it, but I'm also a bit of a perfectionist and I want my hardware to work perfectly with either platform. :lol Plus they look like SEX

So, i put a good five hours today learning the ropes of my first arcade stick (Tatsunoko stick, cheapest and best stick around for its price) and i'm absolutely frustrated during that time i've made no progress.

Watching matches between professional players inspired me to pick one up cause i wanted to pull off high-level maneuvers like jab->hands or mk->hands. I feel like some uber scrub knowing girls (no offense) can handle this weighty lever which completely befuddles me.

Please give me some tips, guys :(

What specifically are you having trouble with? It's best to go into training mode, turn on input display, and practice motions a couple times (like 30 reps on each side) - dashing, FB/QCF motion, SRK motion, double QCF, etc. Once you determine what you're weak on, more experienced players could probably give some detailed tips on how to make those specific problem motions more accurate.

How are you holding the stick? IMO, every new stick owner should try out the Daigo grip when it comes to SF specifically. Though ultimately it's best to experiment with different grips and in general keep your hand loose since it will shift around depending on what you're doing.

A good thing to keep in mind when using Japanese arcade parts is that little movement is required - try to be precise and use minimal force. Just flicking your fingers/thumb or wrist will be enough to manipulate the lever. Get a feel for when the stick registers a motion - you don't have to push the lever all the way to the edge (aka "ride the gate") to get a direction... the engage is much closer to neutral than most realize at first. If you feel/hear a click, then a direction is registering.

Charge motions are a piece of cake, but circle motions are the pits. From the looks of that Daigo Umejuarez vid those tips sound quite handy.

Will try taking the bull by the horns again later today.

:lol

anyways jab hands doesn't have much to do with the actual stick does it? I think it's more about technique (sliding and pianoing and whatnot)

You should really follow my twitter for arcade stick news. ;) The BlazBlue TE sticks are now on GameStop. This is a limited supply from AKSYS Games and Arc System Works. Only 1500 of each one made. Individually numbered too!

why are is the Amazon price still $200 on those?
I've got Amazon credit I might waste on these if they come down to match the Aksys store and Gamestop prices.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Sony prevented the use of this (and a couple other 3rd-party USB controllers/peripherals) in the recent firmware update.

That's what I was worried about since I ordered the converter prior to the update. It worked fine on both my 60GB and 40GB PS3s (both of which are running the most recent firmware).

I actually won a PS3 version from Focus Attack when they had their contest up on Facebook, SRK, and Twitter last month. I still can't believe I won from my one measly tweet! Cool that people can sort of get their hands on one now! I'm lovin' it!™
