Looking to get myself a Playstation 3 stick that can also work on PS1+2 games. I've been looking about and many say they either don't work with the older games or they use firmware.

HRAP3 and VHGS works with BC. I'm sure the one Madcatz is cooking up will too.
Ouch, the two most pricey ones. I was hoping the Hori Arcade fighting stick would be, as that's about a 5th of the price. Oh well =E

EDIT: Apparently that stick is compatible, thanks to a firmware update. Can anyone who owns one here confirm this?

FS3 = thumbs down.

That's my take on them.

Some people are content with them. I'm not though.
Personally for me it's the difference between about £30 and close to £100, and I'm not so fussy about high spec parts and the like. Is it at least one par with the Dreamcast stick?

I'd wait to see if Tatsunoko vs Capcom can support GameCube controllers/arcade sticks.

The Wii stick is fine and all but it connects thru the Wii remote and I'm afraid of signal/frame drops affecting overall performance(but if you don't care about input drops, go for it!).

On a scale of 1-10.

I'd rate the Agetec Dreamcast stick (green goblin) an 8.

I'd rate the FS3 as a 3.

Not even close quality/build/performance wise.

The news section has been updated as of 9-24. They say the sticks will ship late Nov/early Dec. They say the wait is because Hori is whipping up a whole new batch, just for them.

Good news indeed! I've been using an EX2 for the last year and I'm looking forward to the upgrade. I'm gonna get one of MarkMan's sticks next year as my second.

Still waiting for word on the Otomedius stick. That seems rather limited though.

Basically, you get what you pay for.

Now, if all you want to do is play fighters with some kind of stick then by all means by the FS3. Not everyone has the money to buy a HRAP, VHGS, custom or whatever.

Some folks drive a Hyundai...some a BMW...some a Bentley or Mercedes...

At the end of the day, they're all cars.

So would a slightly cheaper option be to get a good Playstation 2 arcade stick and an PS2>PS3 adaptor?

(That, or get that FS3 cheap then mod it with Sanwa parts?)

Hey, I've got a really stupid question that I'm sure someone in here would know...

What, exactly, was the button layout on the Neo Geo joystick?

I've been trying to figure out exactly what order the letters are set up on a Neo stick for the past hour, with no success. Every photo of a Neo Geo stick I can find manages to be JUST off center enough or dark enough or SOMETHING to obscure all the letters, and for reasons beyond my understanding I can't find any text layout of the buttons anywhere on the web.

You have a joystick, a START button, and four action buttons... right? From left to right, what are the buttons named?

Hori Street Fighter IV Arcade Sticks Unveiled!

October 10, 2008

Hori had their brand spanking new Street Fighter IV arcade sticks on display recently during Tokyo Game Show! The sticks should be familiar to most as they are pretty much the same good old Hori sticks we have come to know and love, with an artistic SFIV flair. The PS3 arcade stick is essentially a Hori Real Arcade PRO 3 and the Xbox 360 arcade stick is a Fighting Stick EX2. Check our Arcade Stick section for more information on the new goods!

Yeah, same here. For once I'm excited about something from Mad Catz. :lol

I wouldn't get my hopes up....
:(

hahah, just kidding.

I wanna say within the next few weeks, all the details on the Mad Catz SF IV sticks will be revealed. ;)

Hey guys!
OK I am having a SUPER hard time finding a descent arcade stick (at a reasonable price) for my PC.

What I am looking for is a solo arcade stick that has either a square gate or 8 way directions (up down sideways and diagonal), USB and ready compatible for the PC, will last me a wile, and does not suck = )

Does any one know any good sticks like that or have a stick they are happy with?

HRAP 3.

Has square gate, Sanwa JLF stick. Buttons are Hori but you can easily swap them out with Seimitsu or Sanwa thanks to QDs.

You can get buttons and a 8-way get quickly and rather inexpesnive at http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/

Or you could wait a bit, the SFIV sticks should also work on the PC. At least the PS3 one uses a regular USB connection.

I've played extensive games of GG:AC on my Hori sticks with my bro and we haven't had any issues in terms of signal/frame drops. It's pretty solid. Just make sure your batteries in the Wii-mote are fresh and you're good to go because that's the only time you'll really experience any sort of lag.

So the mad catz stick are better quality then the hori ones right?
I would like to know this as well. I intend on getting two arcade sticks for my ps3 and I really like the look of the mad catz premium SFIV stick. Quality wise I definatley want the best pre-built sticks I can buy.

Yeah, saw those joysticks on SDTekken's website the other day. For the PS3, why not go for a HRAP3 SA (with the real Sanwa buttons) and HRAP EX SA (again with Sanwa buttons) instead of tepid rehash? I already have two HRAP3s, two of those bootleg Saturn pads, a PS2 Saturn pad, USB Saturn pad and an Ascii...

No thanks. I will wait on those Madcatz SFIV pads. I'd like one for the Xbox, since Arcade Shock is taking their sweet time with the HRAP EX order I placed months ago.

Assuming that the Mad Catz sticks use Sanwa parts (99% confirmed), then they're exactly the same as the HRAP2SA, and better than standard HRAP1/2/3. Standard HRAPs use a Sanwa stick and Hori buttons, but if you were to swap those buttons for Sanwa, then they'd be exactly the same.

This question is answered on almost every page :lol

Glix asks Arcadestick-GAF...

"Am I doing it wrong?"

Okay, so my HRAP EX will be here late November, and I want to be ready to do my button swaps on the day it arrives.

I'm a huge Mets/Isles/Knicks guy, so I'm thinking a blue and orange theme. I 'm thinking balltop orange, the "street fighter buttons" in dark blue, and the two extra buttons orange.

For the balltop, I'm going with LB-35-M Meshball in orange

For the buttons, I'm looking at OBSF-30 or OBSF-30RG. Does the panel in the EX have enough room for 30RG's?

Please let me know what you think, GAF, is six buttons one color and two another kinda weird? Should I go with 4 top one color and the four bottom another? Should I go with the RG's?

Any input is appreciated, I want to get this done before they sell out of Mesh balls! (ps- Is there anything weird about the meshball that I should know about?)

6 buttons one color and 2 buttons a different color look fine. i've seen alot of different combinations done.

rg's fit fine in any hrap series stick.

an alternative to just have different color buttons on your stick is to swap the plunger (center part) of one color into the rim (outer part). so basically you can have say an orange center with a blue circle around it or vice versa.

meshballs are fine.

A little random rant:

- "8-way" usually refers to the number of digital inputs; commonly being 8 digital inputs. Most games use 8, but there are some that use 4-way (Pac-man) or 2-way (Space Invaders) etc...

- "8-way" shouldn't refer to an "octagonal gate", because you can have "circular", "square", "octagonal", "bloated square" gates etc., that *all* have 8-way digital inputs...

- "4-way" conversely shouldn't refer to "square gates". A "diamond" gate usually restricts 8-way inputs to 4-way inputs...

/ mini rant :)

:D

Finally got one! Thought I was out of luck. Anyway, I wanna throw in a Semitsu octagonal gate and buttons. What were the part numbers again for those?

For those that have arcade-in-a-box sticks. How does the size compare to the 360 EX2 stick? I've played on the HRAP3 import, but I prefer the size of the 360 Hori.

Thanks for the advice...I definately want the Sanwa buttons/parts. So Im just debating if I should get the HRAP3 SA's now, or wait for the mad catz premium SFIV sticks cause they look kewl >_>? Also where's a good online retailer to buy a couple HRAP3 SAs if I was to go that route? Does anyone know when the SFIV stick is coming out? Thanks in advance! :D

Sorry I havnt been in this thread much. So from what I have gathered the mad catz Premium SFIV stick is exactly the same as an HRAP3SA, just with special artwork??

Parts-wise its speculated to be the same as a HRAP2SA. All Sanwa stick and buttons. However, the build, design, etc. will all be different.

The Hori Street Fighter stick will be the same as a HRAP3 and FS, but with special artwork I believe.

That HRAP3 is divine.

Yo markman, any ideas what/when a good pelican/REAL converter will come around, I've got a pelican but its acting up (cuts out after like 10 minutes of use) and want to get something going for some MAME/melty blood action.

I asked this earlier on in the thread but sadly didn't get an answer. Are there any arcade sticks I can get that I can use on both the PS3 and 360? I don't mind buying an adaptor, and it doesn't have to be the perfect stick but I need to grab one each for the missus and I... and I don't want to end up buying four.

Yeah, the size of the EX2 is what I love about it the most. That and 6 face buttons. HRAPs, while nice, have too many face buttons and are too large in comparison.

Also, what's the best thing to use to add weight to a stick? I was thinking about super-gluing those weights that you use for fishing. Any other alternatives? It would have to be quite small, but heavy. Mercury isn't an option. ;)

k i wanna get an arcade stick for the 360 (prepping for sf4). i don't know what stick to get (isn't there only one or two?), and i sorta want to mod one but don't really know how. pointers?
