Yes Boss! I actually like how that turned out!

Yes, it was your suggestion! I like it (anything probably is better than the stock colors) but it will take a bit of time to get used to it.

Also got all my green buttons and joystick for my Dreamcast Agetec conversion while I was up in San Francisco. Gonna work on that tomorrow (needs a bit of drilling).

Neo Geo stick for PS3 seems MIA this week. And I've been gone and apparently have missed some stick news! Comic-Con? I stopped going years ago when they started focusing more on TV/Movies/Games and I can't see myself going down for a stick...might miss out on that one :-(

Edit: Hmm, saw the pics. Looks good. I'll have to track one down.

FightStick SE.

And for anyone who missed my question since it was at the end of the last page:

Are JLFs supposed to come with two of the disc-dust covers? Mine did. I read on SRK that one goes under the panel and then the obvious one on the top. But I read some other things that conflicted with that so now I'm confused. If they are both supposed to be used, in which order do I install them?

i just peaked under the dust cover of the JLF that came installed on my hrap3, and yep there's another dust cover under the metal panel.

Nice... I think if I ever decide to exchange my art, bezel-less is the way to go.

I'm gonna spend a few days in Tokyo and I was thinking about buying a stick for 360. The MadCatz TE stick isn't available in Japan, right? So I'm wondering what are the sticks I should be looking for? And also where?

Nothing fancy, a modded Hori EX2. It was my first mod and I had never soldered before so this thing was an adventure. The six button setup sucks though for EX moves.

Annnd my Madcatz Street Fighter 4 SE stick mod is complete:

joystickmod.jpg

Replaced the Joystick and all the buttons with Sanwa parts....oooooh it feels so much better. No more sticking buttons! Nice clicky joystick! I'm waiting on an octagonal gate to arrive in the mail still, but I can already feel the difference. I don't feel so much like I'm fighting my controller anymore.

For anyone who's remotely thinking about modding one of these sticks or worried that it's hard, don't be. It's trivial. It took me about 20 minutes to replace all 8 buttons and the stick. If you know which end of a screwdriver to hold, you can do this mod.

damn using a TE makes a world of difference moves that i couldnt pull off consistently with a 360 controller are being done with ease on a TE :D

Hey guys I apologize if this is the wrong place to put this post. But I am trying to sell a custom stick for the xbox 360 and PC to make room for another one. The stick features a happ competition joystick and happ buttons. The stick also has jack for mic/headset. My ebay user name is shoelace1976 if you want to see some feedback about me. Thanks guys for checking it out. I am asking 130 for it. Free shipping. The Stick works perfect.

I haven't even gotten the stick yet and I'm already psyched about the idea of modding it.
Though I'm really no handy man so I'm destined to fail. :lol

I found the SE artwork template and I've been toying around trying to create a potential custom artwork for my SE stick. Here's what I have so far:

21o6csn.jpg

Along with that would go a Seimitsu LB-39 Ball Top (blue) and blue Sanwa OBSF-30 Pushbuttons.

For those of you who've put custom artwork on your sticks, what kind of material did you use?

Reminds me of orange tic-tacs. :D

I'm sure plenty of people will want to get ahold of them for the all-white casing. Plenty of fun to be had with that for modders.

Well, the non-branded TE's are supposed to be out in Q4 and they are all white, so this isn't something that will be hard to get for modders in the future.

I'm a fan of the orange, if these can be ordered online I WILL be ordering one!

Are there any tools/methods that make removing QDs easier? I'm modding my FightStick SE for the second time. I was easily, with a little force, able to remove the QDs and replace the parts the first time. But this time I'm struggling with some. Wanted to ask here before I really went at them and risked breaking something. :lol

What's a QD?

Pliers? Just be careful. I generally grab the QD right below the plastic shroud. Grabbing the shroud itself may result in the shroud slipping off.

Just got my stick in the mail. Gave it a test run by going through story mode on easiest.
It's definitely going to take some time to adapt. I've been playing fighters with a d-pad all of my life so this way of playing is really quite alien to me.
So far I'm having the most difficulty consistently pulling off shurikens, supers and ultras.
That said I can see the potential benefits of playing the stick already.

After cruising this thread for a while now, I finally took my first plunge into modding and ordered me some parts. Thanks, folks, for making an already expensive and time-consuming hobby even more expensive and time consuming! :D

Found on Twitter

I think I like this new orange layout. :D Still waiting for the official word on these bad boys from MarkMan, though.

Ok guys be ready for some incredibly noobish questions, that have probably been answered before.
I'm currently trying to mod a TE stick to look something like this:
Exhibit A
ChieSatoStickcopy.jpg

Now a wonderful member of our forum, Raging Spaniard, created this image using the template MarkMan provided.
Exhibit B
Tournament_FightStick_Template_MadC.jpg

When I printed it out as a test and I dunno it didn't seem big enough for my TE stick.
This is my first project like this so any and all help would be appreciated.

Just a quick question, how common/rare are the TE Sticks now? I really want to pick one up to mod.

They seem to be keeping good supply on amazon and buy.com now. The demand has dropped quite a bit.

Man I've been playing the stick all day but I feel like I lost all mobility and control in the game compared to the d-pad. Hell I'm actually playing worse with the stick than I did when I just got it. :lol Moves don't come out fast enough or fail completely and I have some difficulty moving around.

Do any of you have some pointers on how to learn to properly play a stick?

The only tip is practice. I assume you've been playing d-pad for years, you can't expect to just pick up a stick and be better. But with practice, it won't take long at all.

They are lot more common now that even amazon has them in stock. I just picked up one through amazon this week, which had the Xbox 360 stick for $135. My stick should be here on Tuesday. :D

Man, Chie should to be in a fighting game. Someone needs to make it happen.

How easy is it to mod a HRAP3 and switch out the stock buttons with Sanwa buttons and a Sanwa joystick? I hope it's not too hard.

HRAP3 already has a Sanwa stick. Button swapping is super easy, it uses QDs like the FSTE

I just got my SF4 TE stick yesterday. It looks so good. My last stick hrap ex has got lots of scratches on it after just a few weeks. Does this happen with the TE sticks too?

I'm thinking about buying a TE stick for SFIV, Tekken 6 and KOF (and maybe BlazBlue if it ever comes out in Europe).

This is going to be my first stick, but I've been checking out the shoryuken forums, and it seems quite a few people have problems with buttons that stop working or even the whole stick crapping out. Now I'd like to know what the durability of this stick is and what the chances are of this happening?

Sorry to noob up the thread but I'm going to sell my Wii and get a stick for my Xbox since I've been hitting the fighting games hard lately.

Unmodded what's better, HRAP or the SFIV TE stick? Or is there something even better that I haven't heard of?

Haven't read that happening to many TE sticks. SE Ive read about though. In either case swapping out the buttons is not hard nor that expensive (about 3 dollars a button for sanwas).
I love my TE stick, my only problem is I can't decide what art to put on it. I think I've come up with like 12 designs lol

My first TE was defective. I sent it to MadCatz and they repaired it with a one month turnaround. Eventually, that refurb stick randomly disconnected after extended play. I opened it up and noticed one of the ground wires inside the TE stick was nearly undone. I resoldered it to the circuit board and the stick works well now.

The quality of the components are really nice (Full Sanwa, nice heavy base), but I was personally disappointed with the PCB itself.

On the other hand, My HRAP EX and VSHG have served me flawlessly after hundreds of hours of use.

You playing BlazBlue? I'm finding the stick has quite the learning curve there due to all the dashing/jumping. It's been 2 weeks now, and I'm becoming increasingly mobile. I'm still not quite as mobile as with a d-pad, but I'm getting there. I can pull off moves and combos far better with the stick though.

That's the thing I'm the most scared about, the PCB crapping out. I'm not a modder, so I just want something that works straight out of the box (and keeps working :P)

TE's are supposed to be limited aren't they, or do they keep making them? "If' my PCB craps out I'd rather go back to the store and exchange my TE for another one then sending it to MadCatz and waiting for a month.

In that case, get a HRAP instead. They're super reliable in my experience.

and yeah, AFAIK, MadCatz seems to be making as many TEs as demand necessitates, with or without the SF license.

Does any place sell HRAP EX nowadays? Preferable not ridiculously overpriced or at least from someone private who does custom art so the price is justified :)
