dudes, the HRAP3 SE is on sale for $104 at Amazon. :O i just bought this baby finally.

i was about 3 clicks away from ordering the B1G1 SF4 sticks's when that unverified website bs popped up and i decided to check on how the stock of HRAPS was doing at Amazon.

glad i did. this was the stick ive really been wanting. cant wait to get it.

So. anyone ever tried spraypainting their buttons? Or did I miss posts about that? Turns out the sawna black/green I got contrast too much with my template and bezel. I'm about to spraypaint them honestly. But if anyone has any two cents to share, please do.

Just replaced my stock SE buttons with new Sanwas and holy shit, it's like night and day. Shouldn't have waited until my buttons started crapping out.

The stick itself is still stock, though. What are the differences between a stock SE stick and a Sanwa? I've never had any problems with the stick really.

Between the two, the JLF has more "weight" to the stick itself. It's got a better, more tense spring in it so it'll return to center more quickly and accurately. The gat on the stock one is almost identical to a JLF, but it's a bit smaller, making the throw ever so slightly less and the housing for the microswitches and PCB is molded a bit different.

It's not a huge huge huge difference that people not accustomed to sticks will feel right away, but it's definitely a difference.

Good call on the buttons though, the stock ones in those and even the Hori sticks (EVERY Hori stick) are usually crap and feel mushy and/or wear out incredibly fast. That and the overall design of Hori sticks has made me swear them off for good. :lol

EDIT: actually, the HRAP EX-SE is all Seimitsu, even the buttons. The others are still just a JLF with the stock Hori buttons.

Good to know. Thanks for the explanation.

I think I'll stick (hur) stock stick then until it starts crapping out, or until I'm not such a poor SOB.

Speaking of American Joysticks, Daigo Umehara on the subject -->

"The match against Alex Valle was my first time outside of Japan," he recalls. "Even though I had no idea about the skill level of US players, I sensed that Japanese players would be stronger. For some reason I was confident that I would win, even though I had no solid base for my assumption. I hadn't met any strong foreigners among those who I ran into time to time, and the US joysticks I had seen looked awful, thick at the top and tapered off at the bottom. They just seemed to lack finesse or precision. It was just my hunch that opponents who used such bad sticks could not be better than me.

Dose anyone know if the washer issue the SE Stick had been fixed ?? just bought one for my gf and need to know if im going to have to buy new parts ?

So I'm gonna put some custom art on my SE. I think my biggest problem is gonna be finding a high enough resolution pic of Artie, the Strongest Man in the World.

I think that was only a problem with the first batch.

Anybody who gets the Twin Stick please post actual pics! This is my big stick release for the year along side the original TE from Mad Catz. Awesome stuff. I think I need to order a few colored buttons to make it right.

MarkMan,

Now that everything has released, any word on the new sticks (TvsC) or what might be coming for 2010? Really wondering if the TvsC stick is rebrand or something new altogether. I'll take either...just want a good Wii Stick finally.

Hori's released specs of their Twin Stick EX's that have recently shipped. Who else has one of these preordered?

Damn, I was hoping this was 2 HRAPs in one case. I'm thinking I might have to mod an X-Arcade to get my 2P arcade stick action.

I got my PS3 SE stick over the weekend from Amazon. No washer issue. The stick and the buttons themselves are pretty shitty to be honest , at least in comparision to my HRAP2:SA. So yeah, I have to order Sanwa parts asap.

ok. Well im not sure if my gf will notice the difference in buttons or the stick but ill tell her if she want me to mod it ill do it if she pays for the parts

One more quick question anyone have custom art tutorial mod for the SE there was one on youtube for but it was unwatchable due to the music drowning out the guy's voice. If one of you guys could point me in the right direction for one I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi all,

I more or less wired my own stick together ( Wireless mod for the Madcatz TE) and everything is working fine but for some reason games that have functions mapped to the analog stick like Blazblue freak out. Marvel is also glitchy in that every time I press a button I intermittently taunt instead of punching or kicking.

Any ideas? It works fine on GGPO on PC ( If I set the switch to DPAD) and perfectly on SFIV, HD remix, Tekken 5 &6 along with SCIV.

Blazblue, MVC2 and KOFXII not so much.

Did you remove the analog sticks or triggers? If they aren't neutralized in some manner they will randomly fire or the grounding point (if it's not common ground) will cause undesired button presses.

Ah I will try that...do you just unscrew the nubs? I just removed the sticks and clipped the tips off to give the sixaxis enough room to sit in the stick body.

There's some soldering involved to set the pots to be inactive for each stick.

You also mentioned in your previous post about having to switch to DPAD on the PC. Did you wire the directions to the left analog anyway, or to the DPAD spots on the controller PCB?

If you can get a chance, could you post some clear pics of the wiring itself (unless you did and I just cannot see them because I'm at work right now)?

How hard would it be to dual mod my 360 TE stick to work on the PS3 as well?

If you're not afraid of a soldering iron you could get a Cthulhu board and an imp board and piggyback the PCB in the TE to the cthulhu, connect the cthulhu to the buttons+stick and then use the imp to switch modes when starting the stick. It honestly wasn't THAT hard the first time I did it, it was more difficut fitting that fatass mad catz retro arcade PCB into the case. :lol

this.. or does anyone know of websites that provide this service?? i got the both the te and se sticks for the 360 and want them dual modded,

any gaffers in the sacramento, ca area know of local dual mod services?

I've never had an arcade stick before and was thinking of picking one up.. I think I'd mainly be using it for 2d shooters, but I would like to be able to play blazblue and such casually. Any thoughts on the Xbox 360 Real Arcade Pro. EX-SE vs the Fight Stick Tournament Edition?

At 100$ the Fight Stick would have been a no brainer... especially since it sounds much easier to dual mod... but I'm interested in a 360 stick and that isn't on sale for that at the moment...

It depends on the total cost of each stick. I prefer Seimitsu buttons, myself, and Seimitsu sticks are supposed to be good for shmups and fighters alike. If I had ot make a choice between the two I'd pick the HRAP EX:SE since I know it's all Seimitsu and not half Seimitsu half Hori stock garbage.

I have a TE SF4 MC fightstick (360).
I just scored a Tekken 6 LE bundle off amazon with wireless stick (Hori?).

I was originally thinking of modding the 360 fightstick w/ cthulhu & imp boards for use on PS3/PC as well. The boards seem to use the quick connect now, so I'd only have to do some basic soldering on the imp board for the power supply, I believe. But now I have a problem...

Am I better off sticking with the fightstick only, or should I just keep the Tekken 6 stick and run with a dedicated stick for each platform? I guess it partially depends on the quality/ability to change parts of the Tekken 6 stick?

Thanks for the comments. HRAP EX:SE was 110$ and SF4:TE was 130$, but now it looks like Amazon raised the price of the HRAP EX:SE to 140$ :/... Guess I may wait it out for a bit then.

Amazon had a Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 SA for $80 .. so yeah, cant pass that up. Now my TE stick wont be all lonely :lol

So I was playing sf4 last night and at the end of a match, my hk button stopped working. Cost me the match :E I unplugged my stick and plugged it back in and it started working again.

What could be the cause behind this? Shitty PCB? I just replaced my stock SE buttons with Sanwas like less than a week ago, so it can't be the button itself, can it?

happens all the time with my TE stick, even when it was brand spankin new :-/ My new MvC2 TE stick hasn't done it though, so I'm happy with that.

One option would be to get the TE and just use that since Sanwa isn't BAD for shmups, it's just that Seimitsus are supposed to have the edge, especially the stick itself.

Or you could get a cheap SE and get the parts separately and mod it out, which is easy as heck to do. It would actually be cheaper to do this anyway depending on how much you pay for the SE.

If it's the spring strength you can put an LS-56 spring into a 32 and get that same feeling, just with a slightly better built stick.
I've done all that jazz and tested multiple settings with an LS-32, but the LS-56 just feels more solid to me.

Twin Stick EX just arrived, thing's sturdy. Gotta re-learn how to play VOOT now, I'm garbage. :lol

I'll see if I can get some pictures taken later this evening.

Despite having no money I've got a hole burning in my pocket and since I'm picking up Tekken 6 tomorrow, I was thinking of finally biting on a stick as well. I'm not a hardcore player but I have SFIV, I'm grabbing Tekken and I'll definitely be getting SSFIV. I used to prefer playing with my stick on the Dreamcast (ARF ARF!) and I feel like I play better on SFIV arcade cabinets so I'm gonna go for it!

A few quick questions I'm hoping people can help with though:

1. I've found someone doing SF TE sticks in the UK (PS3) for £85. Any other sticks are at least £40-50 so is it worth the premium for the quality parts? Are there any other bargains I'm missing? I loved the arcade quality build of the DC stick so I'm looking for something similar

2. Will it work with a PC? I'm thinking of getting a $500 super-GAF-PC soon for retro gaming and I'd love to play stuff like Magical Drop on a nice stick (on a sidenote - Magical Drop PSN would consume my life - please do it someone!)

3. I'm seeing mentions of newer TE sticks in the last few pages of this thread. What else is out there at the moment at the TE quality standard besides the original stick? Are the newer sticks better build quality? UK based so availablity is an issue. I can't justify paying import premium prices for a fancy skin

Thanks in advance!
