Yeah I hear they copyrighted "generic karate man"

I don't know much about copyrights, likenesses, and such, but legal issues aside it's pretty obvious to anyone they're trying to make it look as close to Ryu as possible and get away with it, which at the very least is sleazy. I hope they lose money on that thing.

I don't have a dremel, but can someone give me some tips on tools to use to grind/sand down the small tabs on the side of sanwa snap-in buttons?

would a regular nail file work or do I need to buy a file from home depot? I ordered a plexi for my TE stick and I don't want to crack it when I push the buttons in.

It's a standard SE Stick and it's good and easy to mod

Yea, but don't mod it yet! Try the newly engineered parts on the Tatsunoko VS. Capcom stick and let me know what you think! ;)

BTW The Datel stick is using the same tooling as the Mayflash/Elecom stick, so yes, it can be modded with some work.

Just threw a 45mm lollipop on one of the two MadCatz TEs I purchased last week. Amazing. Simply amazing. Now I've gotta order one for all my other sticks! My god.

If Madcatz (a company who has a history of making shi... uh... lackluster accessories) can make a good arcade stick, I'm sure Datel (who has the same track record when it comes to accessories) can make a decent one at least. :lol
After the MC turnaround, I'm ready to buy joysticks from Datel, Pelican, GameShark... maybe not...

At the most recent Tougeki: Super Battle Opera, a famed Street Fighter tournament in Japan, seven out of ten of the finalists owned Mad Catz sticks, Verrey said.

Eh? Isn't Tougeki on you know, actual arcade cabinets?

Sure, these people could own MC sticks for home use, but I imagine as Japanese finalists the overwhelming majority of their time is spent playing in game centers. But whatever, I guess Verrey is just being a good PR man and attributing their tournament success to MadCatz' product.

Yes, Tougeki is an arcade event.

ALSO, yea, from what I gather almost all top players in Japan that are involved with Gods Garden events use either the SFIV TE or Asian edition TE.

There are vids of Mago/Daigo using TE sticks on a TV show.

There are also vids of Tekken Team's Katsuhiro Harada and Ono-San playing Super SFIV using TE sticks.

TE stick is really popular over there, thankfully. One Akihabara store imported 45 sticks and after one day of sale, they had 3 left. Not bad Japan!

Also at EVO2009, all top 8 finalists used TEs. :)

^^

Now all we need is the generic version of the Asian TE, but for the PS3! Still MIA, sadly :-(

Don't japanese gamers mostly use PS3s instead of 360s? What was behind the decision to release an asian TE for 360 only?

Here is a simple HRAP-EX Sanwa mod:

I think it looks ok.

MM, care to elaborate? What's different from the original SF4 fightstick?

Interesting color scheme

What kind of buttons are those? Did you put swap black OBSF-30 plungers into white buttons?

Exactly.
And now I have 8 white OBSF plungers and 8 black buttons
Maybe I`ll swap it in the future........or not :lol

"Peaked" as in "interest could not be higher." It's correct.

No it isn't. If you release a product when interest has peaked, you're on the way down the bell-curve toward oblivion. The best is already behind you.

Piqued is the correct word. You'd never release a new product if interest in it has already peaked.

Do a search for "Wii arcade stick" at Amazon. They exist but I can't attest to their quality.
I'd personally save a few more bucks and get a madcatz TvC stick.
I have a PS2->GC converter, can I just use my old HRAP2 for TvC?

pique1  [peek] noun–verb (used with object)
1. to affect with sharp irritation and resentment, esp. by some wound to pride: She was greatly piqued when they refused her invitation.
2. to wound (the pride, vanity, etc.).
3. to excite (interest, curiosity, etc.): Her curiosity was piqued by the gossip.
4. to arouse an emotion or provoke to action: to pique someone to answer a challenge.
5. Archaic. to pride (oneself) (usually fol. by on or upon).

Peaked is wrong.

Yeah you can do that. I'm assuming most people with PS2 sticks would go this route if they don't want to shell out more money for another Hori or Madcatz.

I was set to debate you on this, but actually, I think you're right. You other guys are getting confused because "piqued interest" is the common colloquialism, but that doesn't mean that they're mutually exclusive words.

Changing the word as it appears to "piqued" conjures the image of people being mildly inquisitive about the product. The article is trying to say interest is at a boiling point.

Plus, "interest has piqued" makes no sense, you can't use the word like that.

Exactly, it would have been "interest has been piqued" if that were the intended expression.

Some gracious soul was kind enough to take my defective Nuby SF Anniv. Stick off my hands. I guess I'll flip that into my third stick purchase this week. I should never have bought that TE a week ago, now I'm just obsessed with these things.

The new TEs look good. Madcatz is really upping the ante.

I have a suggestion though, Markman. If it's not too late, it would be even better if the top plate sat flush in the plastic casing.

I'm sorry if this has already been answered or if this information isn't available yet because the TvC sticks haven't come out as of now.

With the new TvC sticks, can these be modded just as easily (same way), and with the same parts, as the SF4 SE Madcatz sticks?

Thanks in advance for any info regarding this question.

Anyone know if it is possible to buy replacement screws for the bottom of a Tekken 5 stick?I opened my modded one a couple of weeks ago to do some cleaning and adjustments and didn't put the screws back on and now I can't find them since I probably misplaced them somewhere :lol I have no idea on what the size is so I'm kind of lost on what I should search for.

Received my TvC Madcatz stick yesterday. Here are pics, first one is after i put in the JLF stick & OBSF buttons. Second pic are the Madcatz parts I removed, like MarkMan said these new Madcatz parts didn't seem that bad.

It's a pity Sanwa doesn't manufacture OBSFs in the light blue shade of the stock Madcatz parts. I really like that color.

If I hypothetically ever get a TvC stick, I'll probably swap in some blue Seimitsu PS-14-P

yeah, the sanwa blue buttons are darker but i don't think they look bad in the stick :D I still like the light blue stock madcatz buttons though since they are closer to Carolina Blue :D

Any good place that sells the TvsC stick and doesn't charge much for international shipping?
Amazon doesn't ship it to my country and the Capcom Store charges $34 for shipping >_<

I love me some Carolina blue.

Also! Didn't wanna rock the arrowed dust cover?

!

Yep! Same here, class of 2001 go Heels! Hah, the funny thing is I didn't even notice the arrows on the dust cover until after I took the pictures. I switched the one on top to the arrowed one after :lol

If they're the same as the HRAP3 (I think they are) then they are 3mm x 8mm pan head screws. You might want to try the hardware store or a hobby shop.
