can you use it on other systems? or just the saturn?
This one is 100% original, so only Saturn. A lot of people buy them and mod them for XBox/PS3. There is adapter from saturn to Dreamcast.

how much did these sticks go for originally?
I don't know about the original price back in 1995, but I know for sure it was only available in Japan. So every one of them that are in North America right now has been imported in some ways ! Pretty expensive !
(Sorry for the bad english !)

lol np didnt have any problems getting all that

dont they usually go for....300 or so now? that's not that bad considering......how nice it is , two sticks for 300 is about right no?

Ok gaffers heres the deal...being a brazilian i only get one shot at this...

...a friend of mine is flying from USA and he´s willing to bring me an arcade stick so i gotta decide between the Hori EX-SP or the Mad Catz TE...tough noogies i know but i hope you can help me out.

I´ll be using it on the PC for SF4

I would go with the TE. It's a better starting point if you ever plan to dual mod the thing (or hell, any modification in general), and most people prefer Sanwa components for fighters.

I saw this stick up for sale on the National Console Support website over 10 years ago...

For a year or two after the Saturn was prematurely killed off in the US, NCS had these sticks and the single-person variant (HSS-0137 aka Virtua Stick II/Japan-only) for sale on its website.

I also personally saw the Astrocade stick (HSS-0130) at an import videogame shop in Vancouver, BC.

I want to say the HSS-0130 sold for under $200 brand-new but I really don't know at this moment in time... E-mail NCS yourself and see what they say. What I can say 100% is that import duties and shipping were nowhere near as crazy as they are now!

For a month or two, you could actually buy Japanese Saturn consoles cheaper than American Saturns.

The -0130 is only as expensive as it is now because of the fighting game craze last year... and probably also because of their unique (for home console systems) arcade cabinet (Astrocade) layout. They're also in a way the closest thing to twin HRAP sticks now. If not for those facts, these sticks would be gathering dust in used gamestores all over Asia...

$300 for an HSS-0130 would be cheap now. They usually start closer to $325 and go up from there depending on condition of the stick and availability of the box and decals that originally shipped with the stick.

It's such a valuable item I'd be reluctant to mod one of these. Anything under $100 in good condition I wouldn't hesitate to mod... As for this, well there are converters for Saturn controllers (Magic Box, Saturn-to-DC, upcoming converters from an SRK member) if you absolutely want to play with it on other systems.

My impressions on the new TVC Fight Stick:

- MarkMan was kind enough to hook up iPlayWinner with a fight stick and to be honest I was a bit skeptical. I used the MadCatz SE when I was writing the 1up guides for Street Fighter 4 and it only lasted about 3 days under my intense wear and tear of doing combos and everything else.

... this stick on the other hand is leaps and bounds above the SE. I am REAL picky about what I play on and figured I might have some issues with it but it's smooth as butter. I talked to akuma001 about modding it but he said there is "no need due to the modified parts". I wasnt sure I could believe him but after 2 hours of playing I pretty much forgot I wasn't playing on one of my own custom sticks I used at tournaments.

- The weight of this stick is great! It has a real sturdy feel to it and and it's not as light as many of the other sticks I have tried. The one reason I like the Virtua Stick High Grade so much is because it is not light weight, and this stick feels very similar.

- Not sure how to change the art -- it's not bad but I like more minimal designs myself. Sure I could ask MarkMan about that. :P

We've gotten some more help on the TVC guides at iPlayWinner and they are coming together nicely. As I mentioned they will be live just as soon as the game drops.

I'm also plannign doing a Haunts vs the World Tatsunoko vs Capcom edition next week as well. Those of you who dont know how that works, I basically accept game invites and stream the gameplay via ustream. I think this will be a great way for all of us to talk about the game a bit more and maybe learn something along the way. I'll be practicing hard over the next week so hopefully I wont embarrass myself. :lol

I had been on the fence regarding picking up one of these, but what the hell. Just put a hold on one at my local gamestop.

Now it's time to pray the online is as good, if not better somehow, than SF4!

Asked at Tech Talk, didn't really get an answer, so im gunna ask here:

springs.jpg

The JLW spring is the second one from the bottom left. Why then, does my JLW spring look like the one on the far left (JLF)? There are only 5 coils on my spring, which strikes me as odd. Is there another version of the JLW I don't know about (Aside from the UM and TM)?

would anyone be willing to dual mod my 360 SE? it's just sitting in my closet, the stick kept getting stuck in the bottom right position and the lower black button didn't work out of the box so i never really used it, and i mostly play on PS3. Oh, and throw some sanwa parts on it as well? i have no clue how to mod, i'd buy the parts and everything so any help would be awesome! :D

PM ME!

Try hitting up akuma001 on these forums.

Just know though, the 360 EX SE is not common ground so you'll need to get some extra supplies, not sure if akuma001 has em' though, but try hitting him up!

Great service.

will do, thanks for the help!

I'm thinking of getting a stick to play some Cave shmups on 360 since they are showing the US some love. It seems the Hori Real Arcade Pro. EX-SE is a good choice for this?

Apparently I missed an awesome Amazon price on these a month ago, but ebay still has the EX-SE for $100 with free shipping.

HRAP EX-SE is pretty much the best thing available right now if you want a good stick for shmups. I've got one myself and it's great.

I just modded my 360 TE with parts I got today from Tek Innovations. Here's what it looks like!

The MTLSF stuff is just our local community. "Talk pas shit" is our motto, and the big red logo is the community logo.

I had my community name etched, as well as MTLSF etched. The dustwasher is custom etched with the MTLSF logo, and the panel is a full size plexi. I thought it would look better than a standard size plexi replacement and I think I'm right - it just looks awesome and the guys tonight freaking loved it.

It's a shitty pic (I took it with my iphone!) but still.

That's badass.
It's amazing what you guys can do with these, I'm a pussy compared to you. :lol
I cry when I see too much wires, yes I do.

Is the Wii TvC stick expected to be generally in short supply (i.e., should I order from Amazon now, or can I safely wait awhile for discounts?)

I was wondering the same thing, so I just said "Screw it" and went ahead and ordered it. I suspect they might be in short supply due to the somewhat niche IP associated with it here in the states.

Madcatz proved with the SFIV sticks, that as long as demand is there, they'll supply it.

Such a wonderful change of pace from the arcade sticks of yesteryear, suffering limited production runs and stupidly inflated aftermarket prices.
I really commend them for bucking the trend.

I want to buy one, but I can't find an online store that has cheap international shipping :(

Any impressions on the Tekken 6 Wireless stick?

I spotted one on sale for £130 over the weekend and I was very tempted but I've not seen any reviews. I noticed it was 2.4ghz and not bluetooth, that's a shame. It's either that or a TE but I don't like the 'feel' of the stock TE and I wouldn't be modding it for a while.

its a decent stick for casual use. Have not tried it with SF4 but its pretty solid for Tekken. I'm not sure but £130 seems a bit high? (i'm from the US and don't know the conversion rates well)

It's the price that has me worried, I can't help but think it'll drop to £80-90 soon. I have a Mayflash that I'm using at the moment but I really want a wireless stick. I'll be using it predominantly for 2D shooters (when some show up on PSN :( ). I guess I'm just worried that if I miss this one, I'll miss my chance to get a wireless stick.

It´s decent but the parts are still cheapish Hori parts. The wirelessness is nice but the battery life sucks. I would not pay more than 50£ for one to be honest...

I got a PS3 TE stick in September. I regret not getting the 360 one, since they are easier to mod. I was thinking about selling my PS3 stick, getting a 360 one and modding it with a MC board. I just want one stick to work with everything. TvC comes out tomorrow. CC works fine, but there ain't nothing like a stick...

Despite the fact that it's easier to mod a 360 stick, is it still possible to mod a PS3 stick to be PS3/360/PC compatible?

_dementia said:
It is still possible. You will need common-ground 360 controller to gut and use.
.

Yeah, but it looks so sloppy/ ghetto :lol

_dementia said:
Multi-Cthulhu is awsome. I just use converters to use my PS2 sticks with other systems though. Not nearly as elegant a solution :/

But aren't converters expensive and laggy? Are there Gamecube converters that work on PS3 TE sticks?

Is there a place where I can just send in my stick and $, and they will do everything for me, including supplying the parts? If so, any estimate on price?

Contact Akuma001 for your modding needs

I would totally love to mod my 360 TE for Wii CC compatibility. Have people done this? Is there a fairly straightforward solution that would cost less than buying a TvC Wii stick?

I think im going to need some new buttons on my Madcatz SFIV fightstick. The X button is hyper-sensitive, and even just wiggling it gently from side to side is easily enough for it to register as an input. Makes navigating menus very annoying...

Is this a common problem or did i just get the duff one? :P

-PXG- said:

Certainly not. Mayflash's Cube Joybox is an excellent lag-free and inexpensive PS2->GCN converter that has served me well for Soul Calibur II, GGAC+ and VC games.

USB is the end of the line. There is no PS3-to-anything converter, save 360, but that is probably the laggy and expensive one you were told about.

Got my TVC stick, and I'm quite impressed with the heft, as well as the new Madcatz parts, bravo Mark. They're not up to SA/SE quality, but they're close, I'd put them on the same level as the parts in the Green Goblin, that is, 100% usable. This stick is a winner. Judging by this, the next line of SEs should be just as worthwhile.

So, after looking at Yes Boss!'s Mushihime stick, I went and splurged on one so I can mod one as well since I didn't know the buttons were quick disconnects until I read his post.

I've ordered my buttons and everything from lizardlick already.
I went with 2 Green OBSF-24 buttons. But I didn't know akihabarashop carried the PS-14-D-N which was what I was looking for in the first place.

Does anyone have 2 Green PS-14-D-N they'd like to get rid of?

I'll pay for the buttons and shipping and also ship the 2 Green OBSF-24(when i receive them) for free. PM me if anyone has any and Thanks!
