How so? Looks same to me...are they spaced out a little more? I can't tell from te pics vs my mvc2.

Buttons are placed the same (Vewlix layout), but they switched around what buttons register as on the right 4.

No, I don't play Ibuki, but this is what my TE looks like these days.
I painted the bezel and sides. Same dual mod PS360 as before.

Nice! Eerily similar to my TE... (and I don't play Ryu either)

What's up with people having stick art featuring characters they don't use? :lol

It's a long story with mine :lol

I happened to own an original piece of Bengus art I got way back in the day (SFII-era and Alpha-era Ryu), and figured I'd design a stick around it.

Aokage! <3 the WAHP podcast!
And yes I am in love with your Bengus stick and just had to emulate the design. Please forgive me -_-

Oh wow, thanks! You are most welcome to emulate :D

VX SA arrived today, and it's awesome as should be expected!
The standard button colours look nice in person actually, might keep them for a while.

Haha, did Hori copy the TE's "hybrid" japanese/american button layout?
No, it's actual Vewlix arcade layout in the Hori V sticks. The TE is close to Vewlix, but the buttons angle downward as they go right.

Nice pickup, the androgyne. VX-SA looks awesome!

These 3 sticks can easily be found in Japan when SSFIV comes out.

- Mad Catz Super Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition "S" - (this one is a bit diff from the US ones)

Just curious, but do we know the difference between the American and Japanese SSFIV TE S sticks?

So. I haven't bought an arcade stick of any kind since the Dreamcast. With the release of Super and Final Fight: DI, I decided that I really would like to own a nice, quality stick for my 360. And I'll be damned if I just don't love the feeling of playing with one. Basically, the knowledge I have of the culture and specifics of modern arcade sticks has come from skimming this entire thread, albeit quickly. Essentially, I'm looking for a nice starter stick that I can play both fighting games and classic arcade titles on without a fuss, and since I'm new to this scene, I'm not much interested in modding (though some custom units in this thread are absolutely gorgeous). After doing some research and soul-searching, I think I've narrowed my choice to the Hori Real Arcade Pro EX: SE. The price is good, I like that it uses official arcade components, and it looks like it's built well. But, I probably don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Is there something better out there in the same price range? Something coming soon that I should wait on? Help, arcade stick expert GAF! And thank you much.

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO! I just got Super Street Fighter IV today and my 360 Tournament Edition stick is borked; the right trigger and left trigger -- farthest right buttons on bottom row -- have stopped working! :(

Anyone have any information on what, if anything, I can do to fix this problem? I'm pretty sure I'm way beyond S.O.L. on any sort of manufacturer warranty (if such a thing exists for MadCatz' joysticks).

I was thinking of getting myself the regular Street Fighter IV FightStick for PS3 but I wanted to know if it's compatible with both Marvel vs Capcom 2 and HD Remix.

I'm pretty sure the sticks have 2 years warranty in Europe at least.

There's nothing special about it (except when it comes to PS2 games), it's just a controller, so naturally it works with all normal games for your console...

Does anyone know a shop, that has the SFIV TE FightStick (PS3) on stock for less than 80 € and ships to Germany?

I want one badly for the release of SSFIV, but don't have that much money at the moment. :(

Is there a guide or something like that, how you did that? Looks awesome!

It's compatible with every PS3 game (but plays best on 2D ones, obviously)

If anyone wants a stick that is relatively cheap now that SSFIV is out, check ebay for the Tekken 6 wireless hori arcade. I have it, and it is solid. Of coarse it's now TE or HRAP, but it performs great.

It was being sold brand new with Tekken 6 along with the artbook for $80 here in Ottawa. I'm sure you guys can find it cheap in many other places.

So I wrote down what the config is if you plug in the Mayflash CC adapter into the PS3. Originally the TvC stick on the Wii has this layout:
Y X L zL
B A R zR

After pressing Home+L when plugged into the PS3, the TvC stick maps out as:

Square X L2 L1
O Triangle R2 R1

And home doesn't seem to do anything on the PS3, and the start/select buttons are swapped (O_o)

Man, I hate that Super Street Fighter 4 has the crappy type of control config. It'd be easier if I could just press the buttons to assign them instead of having to figure out what each button is on the PS3.

Question guys, my stick is somewhat getting sticky with the down direction. Do I have to reapply some lube to stop it from sticking? Or is the metal washer suppose to be glued down or something? Because i took apart the stick and the washer is not glued down.

For reference it's the JLF-TP-8YT.

since I cannot seem to get a response on the SSF4 thread. I will try here. I purchased a fightstick SE and I am having a really hard time pulling anything off. I have done some reading about gates and wondered if anyone could help me out. I have considered replacing the stick and the gate. Would an octagonal gate be better to learn with. thanks

The best thing to learn with is the gate you have, because it's the standard. You can switch if you want, but if you ever have to use someone else's stick you'll be thrown off you game a lot.

You don't need to switch... you just need to learn. It's not that hard really, you just have to stick with it. Switch on input display, move the stick slowly and listen to the microswitches. You should be fully relaxed in your arm, only moving your fingers and hand in smooth, relaxed, tiny motions.

Depends on if it's your first time with a stick or not.
If you're like my brother who grew up with Happ sticks and american layout, you might have an easier time with an octagonal gate.
Otherwise if it's your first time you will only get better with practice, patience, and perseverance.

Thanks for all the advice. I will keep at it, hopefully it will get easier.

I really mean what I said about doing it slowly and listening to the stick. You can hear the clicks when you hit the directions, and you'll be surprised with how little you actually have to move the stick to register, for example, a quarter circle. Try it, very slowly, all the while trying to minimize the movement of your arm and hand. Try to relax and don't tense your muscles. The smaller the movement, the faster and more precise you can be. It's the same principle you use when learning electric guitar.

I'm having a slight issue with my TE stick. I noticed for some reason the ball top on my stick was unscrewing instead of the entire shaft just turning freely. I thought perhaps I'd mucked it up somehow when putting on my custom art and new ball top, or perhaps some of the wires inside were preventing the shaft from turning freely to the left causing the ball top to unscrew.

I cracked it open again, didn't see anything that would inhibit it from turning to the left. So I held the shaft in place with a flat head and screwed the ball top on tight. That seemed to work for a while, but now it's unscrewing again.

Anyone else have this problem? Know how to fix it?

Screw it on tighter, what you did was right though.

Flathead + elbow grease = one fine woman.

GO.

Well last time I tightened it as tight as it would go, and it still came loose. I just gave it another shot here, so we'll see if it sticks this time.

Got my Fightstick (SE) today :D picked up a pci card so it would work on my pc. the stick feels pretty nice, me likey.

my only prob is the light punch button doesn't work unless i hit it pretty hard. could that just be a loose connection?

MarkMan,

Anything different about the Japanese S, physically. Other than the packaging? Got a couple of the American releases so far...need to know if I should import the japanese version.

Yes Boss!

How have you been?

Check the pic posted above. You'll notice on the Japanese Licensed ones they have a PS logo where the home button is.

fuck yeah, i fixed my button. there was a loose wire, just made sure it was on tight. all is well. i was kinda getting used to the 6 buttons though.

HARP-EX-SE is the best stick I've ever used. Is there a PS3 equivalent? I don't wanna mod.

The PS3 has the HRAP EX-SA which has the same design, but the buttons and stick will feel a little different since it has Sanwa parts, not Semitsu.

I'm actually suprised how much I like my HRAP EX-SE (got it for an Xmas gift but hardly used it until now), after using a MC TE exclusively for over a year now.
