Yeah, that's dumb
The appeal is supposed to be that it's limited in nature.

Thanks to the ease of customization offered by standard TEs, it's not even difficult to replicate the look of one.

No, it's actual Vewlix arcade layout in the Hori V sticks. The TE is close to Vewlix, but the buttons angle downward as they go right.

Nice pickup, the androgyne. VX-SA looks awesome!

Ahhh, okay. I remember way back it was pointed out as a bullet selling point that they purposely made the TE button layout a hybrid to satisfy both preferences. Didn't know about the viewlix layout.

I need another TE stick! Any deals going around for $99 still?

Very true. They'll be on eBay a few months after they come out for around $100 bucks, maybe snag one then if you like the look of it enough.

Yes Boss!

How have you been?

Check the pic posted above. You'll notice on the Japanese Licensed ones they have a PS logo where the home button is.

Been doing great! Been in the south for the last few months but now I'm in gorgeouse San Antonio. Just recently discovered all the great news about the new sticks from the last few months.

I've already got three of the new "S" sticks and will get my fourth as well as the new j-land versions. I also have been keeping up with most of the new Hori sticks. Aki just shipped my new Vewlix PS3 Pro stick today (ridiculous price, swoony) and the fugly Deathsmiles 2 stick should be coming in a few weeks. Can't seem to find an Espgaluda stick...doesn't seem like one was made (which seems odd).

Great news about the old form-factor Madcatz stuff for BB. Awesome!

Regards,

Yes Boss!

Ha!

Awesome news. Felt bad about only being able to buy one because of the crazy price. Gonna be nice to add a few more to the collection.

Love.

SDTEKKEN Reports: Hori USA To Bring A NEW RAP Premium VLX In The US!

http://sdtekken.com/2010/04/30/exclusive-hori-usa-to-bring-a-new-rap-premium-vlx-in-the-us/

Our resident arcade stick expert (LOL) just received exclusive word that Hori will be bringing a brand new Real Arcade Pro Premium VLX fighting stick to the US market! More information will be made available at this year’s E3 Expo so keep an eye out for preorders on Hori USA’s Official Web Store!
Oh yes... oh yes...

Seimitsu panel arrived in the post today. Connected to 2 Cthulhu MCs and now adding in my arduino. Already have input reporting up and working.

I'm having a weird issue with my original TE (360). It seems that the plastic frame of the "cable cubby" has warped a little bit.. Sort of caved in just a tad. Since the frame of the cable cubby appears to be supporting the top-left corner of the stick, the bezel now has some mobility in that area- it can be pushed down into the now-concave top of the cable cubby.

Has anyone encountered this before? I store my stick with the cables in the cubby, and so i have no idea how this would happen. I think I need to find something that I can stick into the cable cubby to buttress it, and hopefully stretch it back to its original form.

The new MadCatz TEs still don't work with Ps2-capable PS3s or all Pcs, right?

Is there a new equivalent to the PS3 Real Arcade Pro. 3-SA? Amazon shows out for 1-2 months. Is it discontinued?

My Lizardlick order shipped yesterday. Can't wait to put the buttons and stick in my SE. Now all I need to do is find a place to laminate my art and get an adhesive backing and I'll be set.

Actually, anyone spraypaint their case? Any tips? I heard Vinyl spraypaint is good but what about anything else after that like anything to apply after? Complete noob here. :P

So is the Marvel vs Capcom 2 stick the same as the TE SF one? Just with a different design?

yup, pretty much I think. Not 100% sure but I think it's been mentioned in this thread that it is.

Just so no one is confused. The MVC2 TE stick is different from all others, the button layout is diff.

The form is the same essentially, just the buttons are placed differently for L1, R1, R2 and L2.

holy shit when did that happen? I thought about buying one Thursday and they were in stock then.

BTW the EX-SE is good. I used it at at tourney today but it's too loud when I hit the buttons. The other guy could hear when I was tapping buttons for my ultra so they could block :|

I really want one :O hands might be to cramped tho :\

The VLX looks fantastic but... unless they decide to make a 2p version I'm not gonna buy one since I'm more than happy with the sticks I've already got.

Definitely want to try playing on one though - probably the closest experience to playing on a cab you can get with a retail stick. <3

Thanks for the quick reply. Anyone ever order from that site? Just wanna know if they're legit considering it's a $100+ purchase.

Fine, I should have said "closest experience to playing on a Vewlix cab with a retail stick." :P But yes, HSS's are badass.

So...important question. I just picked up the Marvel vs Capcom Tournament Edition stick for $139. It says it has sanwa parts and appears to be identical to the S4 TE Stick that was $149. Are these truly 100% identical? I went in planning on buying the S4 TE Stick, but decided on the MvC one as it was cheaper and I liked the art more... please help before i open 'er up

yeah, same parts

WTB a PS3 FightPad on the cheap (max $25?) because it'll just be for friends who don't have an arcade stick. Let me know if you know anything.

serious answer: try asking around in the buy/sale/trade thread

ArcadeGAF,

I want to get new buttons for my Hori EX2 because the current ones suck but, I'm not too sure which buttons will fit. I would prefer to order from lizardlick.. any suggestions?

Any 30mm Japanese buttons will fit if you dremel the metal tabs from the button holes.

It's only been 3 weeks and the L2 button on my Hori FS3 is already sticking :( Are these buttons supposed to be fragile or am I pressing it wrong?

Picked up a SSF4 TE round 2 stick today. Bit the bullet after coming across a pretty decent deal - $269 AUD with 10% cash back, a free copy of SSF4 and free delivery. Still remember the torture of using Guile with a pad in vanilla SF4, so very much looking forward to this.

Congrats, enjoy! Playing charge characters on a square gate is really easy to pick up and will be much easier on your thumbs, lol. :D

Cheaper joysticks like the FS3 have knockoff parts (in this case, Hori manufactured) instead of arcade-grade stuff, so they're much less durable than what you'd find in a Mad Catz TE or HRAP-SA/SE, unfortunately.

I know this was probably asked a millions times, but this a huge thread. What's the difference between the three models of TE sticks, other than the full panel art on the S types? The S types are easy to find at GameStops, so I'm looking to pick one of those up.

TE Round 1 and Round 2 are identical as far as case and internals go. MvC2 TE is the same as R1/2 TEs except the right 4 buttons are mapped differently. The lock switch only keeps home/guide from activating.

TE S has a new PCB, a slightly slimmer case, and full panel artwork. The lock switch keeps select/back, start, and home/guide buttons from activating.

Round 1: http://store.gameshark.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4543&idCategory=274
Round 2: http://store.gameshark.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4696&idCategory=274
MvC2 TE: http://store.gameshark.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4714&idCategory=274
Super SF4 TE (TE S): http://store.gameshark.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4761&idCategory=274

All TEs have the same 8-button layout (close to the Vewlix layout used in SF4 arcade cabinets) and use authentic Sanwa joystick lever + buttons... so you really can't go wrong with any version.
