Congrats, enjoy! Playing charge characters on a square gate is really easy to pick up and will be much easier on your thumbs, lol. :D

My strike rate for Guile's ultra on the DS3 pad was about 1 out of 20 :lol

I would love to have a stick, especially that SSFIV S TE. Sadly, there is no way that I can afford it. I'll just have to stick(heh) with the standard 360 controller.

You can find the SFIV SE FightStick for ~$40 new. Great intro stick and can easily be modded/upgraded.

Not locally here in Toronto. I've searched everywhere and the only store that has it in stock wants $100 for it.

Is there going to be another run of them made for SSFIV or is it only the TE?

I ordered mine online from Amazon for $40. In stores in the US, it runs for $80 retail, so I wouldn't waste time trying to hunt it down at an actual store.

ncix occasionally sells them for $50 CAD as well, that's where I got mine in december. $15 shipping though :(

All TEs have the same 8-button layout (Vewlix, like the SF4 arcade cabinet) and use authentic Sanwa joystick lever + buttons... so you really can't go wrong with any version.
AZ Greg brought it up in previously this thread; the TEs actually don't have the exact Vewlix button layout.
The new HRAP V models for PS3 and 360 as well as the Premium VLX have the Vewlix layout, whereas the Madcatz sticks are close to the Vewlix alignment but the button positions angle downwards slightly from left to right.

I finally caved today and went to EB Games to buy a SFIV MadCatz Tournament Edition Arcade FightStick (Round 2).

Cost me $134 in total (was $120 on sale) and holy shit is it WORTH it.

First off, I played pretty much with the 360 controller and let me tell you, trying to do any charge moves or playing for an extended period of time resulted in nothing but cramps and never being able to do what I needed to do WHEN I needed to do it. Lots of frustration and pain to go with it.

I've never really been hardcore about getting an arcade stick so I figured I'd try my luck on one. It feels like an absolute dream - playing characters like Guile and Zangief are FUN and pulling off moves is SO much easier.

The stick and buttons are super high quality and I cannot say enough good things about this thing. Super SFIV is like a whole new experience now that I can pull off Zangief's throws without breaking the bones in my hand :lol

Edited my post accordingly.

Impulse bought the BlazBlue CS LE TE (that's alot of acronyms!) for the PS3 today. My current PS3 stick is just a modded SFIV SE stick with Sanwa parts and I had been looking for something a little nicer and I think I found it!

Love the art and I know the stick is solid, let's just hope I don't regret the $200 price tag in the near future. The 1500 manufacturing run means it will at least be collectible and Aksys was nice enough to include free shipping on these, which is a nice touch.

Now the only hard part will be waiting til I actually get my hands on it! =(

Markman question about the Tournament Edition S sticks, asides from the case being physically different are there any other differences to the standard TE stick?

I've had the TE stick for the past year and it's probably the single greatest peripheral I've ever owned, I feel like double dipping for the hell of it.

WTB a PS3 FightPad on the cheap (max $25?) because it'll just be for friends who don't have an arcade stick. Let me know if you know anything.

Pick up a Saturn USB pad off of ebay. It should run you about $25 shipped. Just make sure you get the one that says "SLS" on the back as there are some knockoffs up on there too.

The main differences between the TE and TE "S" are as follows:

- TE "S" has full art top panel (no plastic trim/bezel like on existing TE stick)
- Lock switch now affects the start & select/back button, further preventing accidental presses in competitive/tournament play
- "S" case design with slimmer sides, not affecting the overall footprint of the stick, however.

And thanks for the kind words, I'm very happy you like the TE that much!

Nice! I'm gonna order one as well...

Arcade stick addiction/curse +2.

Quick question:

I have $95 of credit at Amazon to spend on a stick for my PS3. I've never owned one before (or really played a fighting game before), but most people are recommending the HRAP.3. I would eventually like to trick it out because I know my way around Photoshop and a soldering iron. Oh, and this is for SSFIV... if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance guys =)

The most customizable stick is the TE stick.

Just saying, if you like tricking shit out.

You can't go wrong with either an HRAP 3 SA or TE stick.

Why the sudden price jump on the sticks? Boo. Also, can anyone direct me towards some slick Sanwa buttons?

I've used Gamingnow.net for my last 2 orders (including Sanwa stick/buttons and some Seimitsu buttons as well) and they have done well on both of them and they ship fast.

If you are in Europe Arcadeshop.de is also good. (Used them back when supply was low in the Stats on certain items).

I'm getting a JP ps2 for some fighting goodness. Is there a usb > ps2 adapter out there and would the TE work with it?

Where's the best place to order clear Seimitsu buttons?

EDIT: Never mind, looks like gamingnow.net would do unless someone knows of a better place. :P

Is there such thing as a USB->PS2 adapter?

I was listening to warning a huge podcast is approaching fast & I found out about the Real Arcade Pro Premium VLX fighting stick. Then lo & behold sdtekken.com confirms that it will hit the US market later? Does anyone know any details about this beauty?

@MarkMan

one thing ive always wanted to ask you - do you have any idea why madcatz europe (or afaik distributed though saitek here) isnt releasing the new sticks/pads etc. We are still stuck with the first gen SF4 Fightstick /Pads :(

Found a guy on eBay selling a few Femme Fatale TE 360 sticks for $150 each with free shipping, so I jumped on it and snagged one this morning. I always throught they looked awesome since I first saw one.

I think I'm going to dual mod this one, looks like Lizard Lick has all the stuff I need and it should be rather painless, since I'm not going to try and go with the only one USB cord fancy stuff mod.

MadCatz are definitely distributing the new sticks in Europe, as they were kind enough to send me one to review while reviewing SSF4. It's awesome, by the way. They are out there. I really want a Juri fightpad and can't track one of those down at all, mind.

@Markman

You really gotta get those guys to start shipping to Canada. It's not like the major cities are that far away from any border crossings, and you can still drive it on the same truck that you use to ferry things around to washington or the upper eastern states. I can understand the hassle shipping to south america or europe, but canada? come on man! Is our money not green enough for you?

I'm sure it's not your area of concern, but on the madcatz website itself, when you click the ps3 accesories section it says "everything you need for yoru xbox 360":lol

Our money (Canadian Dollar) is worth more than theirs...but they still don't want it =p

I'm having a weird issue with my original TE (360). It seems that the plastic frame of the "cable cubby" has warped a little bit.. Sort of caved in just a tad. Since the frame of the cable cubby appears to be supporting the top-left corner of the stick, the bezel now has some mobility in that area- it can be pushed down into the now-concave top of the cable cubby.

Has anyone encountered this before? I store my stick with the cables in the cubby, and so i have no idea how this would happen. I think I need to find something that I can stick into the cable cubby to buttress it, and hopefully stretch it back to its original form.

Bump.

I checked mine after reading your post and I don't have anything like that happening with mine....and I've abused my stick like a red-headed step-child.

Do you store it near anything hot maybe?

Holy crap this. Seriously I'm dying for a SSF4 stick and all these US-only discounts are bumming me out. It can't be that hard to give Canadians some love right?

No one? I know most ps2 games can't be played via usb, but I can't find any leads on a usb > ps2 controller port adapter for the life of me.

my brother gave me a hrap ex-se. problem is it does not work. not sure what is wrong with it. he opened it up to mod it and when he put it back together nothing was working. i looked inside of it and it seems one wire is broken. i know nothing about wiring but i don't think it is a tough fix. i have the original seimitsu buttons that it came with and a set of seimitsu's that he put in it. anyone know what a non-working ex-se is worth? i am thinking of selling it and don't know how much to ask.

Thanks, I'll look into that.

If you're playing PS2 games on a BC PS2, the stock Cthulhu is fully back compatable.

If you're playing on an actual PS2, you could get the MC Cthulhu and attach a PS2 cable that way.

Even if the PCB's completely gone (though I doubt it, they're pretty sturdy and you said it's probably just a wiring issue), it's still worth quite a bit for parts and case alone. Still, it'd probably be in your best interest to test the board (can be done pretty easily with just a spare wire), since you could get more money if it's still good. Are you interested in repairing it at all or just want to sell it?

The parts alone are worth ~$40, case at least $30... So you can probably get around $70 if the PCB is dead. $80-100 if the board is still functioning. I've seen used EX-SEs going for up to $120 if you can manage to fix it.

I'm expecting delivery of a Fightstick TE round 1. Quick question, can you unscrew the stick from the base? I'll be taking it round a friends pretty regularly, I assume that's the safest way to carry it.
