Goddamn, if I had $1k or so sitting around, I'd get that custom cab. Everytime I see it, it's so awesome looking!
I'll lend you a couple hundred euros if you build one for me as well :D

It's even more frustrating for me, I've got the money right now but ZERO skills and time to dedicate to such a project (which IF I was ever able to finish would end up awfully crappy anyway because of the mentioned lack of skills)... At least you can wait until you raise the money, on the other hand I'm screwed forever no matter what :P

I need help. Which one should I get? HRAP.V3 SA or Mad Catz Round 2 TE?
Whatever's cheaper. Both use the same parts.
Just be aware the HRAP V3-SA is significantly lighter, has a shorter cable, and has the start button on the face of the panel with the action buttons when compared to the TE.

I need a good ps2 to ps3 converter that still works on ps3. I remember awhile ago that ppl would recommend the inpin. Is there a site that sells this?

Thanks.

hey guys:
Im looking to re-vamp my mad catz SF4 stick where can i find complete kits with buttons and new stick compartment?

If you don't have any local spots around you such as importer shops, check out Lizard Lick.

Good service, I ordered some parts from them last week and they got here yesterday. Packaged nicely too.

The MC SE is really easy to mod as well, plug and play for the joystick and the buttons.

Hey guys I started using my sf4 te stick again because of mvc3. I want a different look to the stick and I'm going with changing the artwork first. My question is how do I go about printing the art. Should I get it professionally printed? And when I remove the original art is it the actual hard plastic or is there a piece of paper underneath.

So I want to get an usb hub for my PS3 and I was wondering if my MadCatz Street Fighter 4 TE Round 2 sticks would require anything special to work with a hub. I have 2 of them. Any help or info would be appreciated. Thanks.

As long as the hub is powered you should have no problems.

The stock art is one solid peice. If you're printing replacement art, I would suggest protecting it in some way, like with plexiglas. Art's hobbies is a nice resource for that

So Marvel 3 has really urged me to get a fightstick. I sold my two TE fightsticks after my interest in SFIV declined so now I'm looking for a cheaper option. What's the verdict on the HRAP 3 these days? Good price for what you get or should I wait for a deal on the TEs/other high-end fightsticks?

HRAP3 is comparable to the TE... has the same arcade grade joystick (Sanwa JLF), but the buttons are Hori manufactured. Just keep in mind it has a lighter case, a much shorter cable with no cord storage, and the start/select buttons are on the top panel. So it's not as feature rich but it'll play very similarly.

Just purchased the plexiglass. My next step is to find some artwork? Any place with a bunch for use or is it possible to request one? I'd really like to use a nice dormammu with a black / red color scheme. I'd try to make one myself but there doesn't seem to be much artwork :(

I just got my LS-56-01 in the mail today.

OH MY GOD. It feels so much better than my other sticks(JLSbleh, SE stock, LS-32-01).

It's so tight and just locks in position. The perfect stick for my play style. I'm using Sanwa buttons with it for Marvel, and I use my LS-32 with seimitsu buttons for street fighter.

I just got this stuff the other day:

Now I have two of the Soul Edge bundles!

And have you ever seen these?

248 arcade sticks now. So close to 250.

Hey guys, MvC 3 has been completely destroying the buttons on my MadCatz stick, so I figured I'd finally take the plunge into modding it. Bottom line, what is the best stick, as well as button set for this stick in particular:

If someone could list the links to the best in stock parts for me at Lizard Lick or whatever, I'd greatly appreciate it. As a reward for the help, I'll gladly donate an extra code that I have for the Playstation Move Heroes demo that I have sitting in my inbox.

Button, pick your poison:
http://www.lizardlick.com/Seimitsu-30mm-GN-Screw-In-Buttons_c_189.html
http://www.lizardlick.com/Sanwa-30mm-Screw-In-Buttons_c_174.html

Lever:
http://www.lizardlick.com/Sanwa-JLF-TP-8YT-SK-Joystick_p_260.html
http://www.lizardlick.com/Seimitsu-LS-32-01_p_422.html

I prefer Seimitsu myself, but the JLF is closer to what you're using in the default lever, plus it's actually in stock.

Buttons are a mix. I recommend screw-in rather than snap-in as they're easier to put in and give the same effect. Again, I prefer Seimitsus but the Sanwas are a bit more sensitive (too sensitive, IMO) if that's your bag.

What is the general consensus on the Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick?

I'm not an expert, but I have two of the Tatsunoko vs Capcom sticks, a Madcatz TE for my 360 and a Tekken 6 stick.

And I have to say that the TvC stick is one of the best stock fightsticks I have ever used, specially for the price. I think that stick should be the new standard for non-TE and not modded sticks.

What do you guys think?

TvC stick is excellent. Best clone parts ever.

As RedNumber5 I also have a SF4 stick that I've been thinking about modding. I've been playing MvC2 until my copy of MvC3 shows up and I feel like I'm having trouble pulling off circular moves. The buttons are also a bit soft on the stick. I have a local import shop, video games NY for those that care, I don't want to spend a whole lot so I was thinking about a $20 spot or so for 8 buttons and an octogate. Should I just go all out and get a lever as well? The Youtube videos look pretty damn simple as far as modding the stick goes.

Did your buttons just start sticking or are you expecting the new buttons/stick to feel better? I just ask cause I have the same stick, and sometimes the movement on the stick feels clunky. I have no idea if its just cause I have so little experience with it or if its the part...

I'd say yes get the sanwa stick and one of these

Sanwa GT-C

they are custom made circular gates for Sanwa sticks and work flawlessly. I have one installed.

I personally found the stick to be a bit loose, but I've since adjusted to it. As for the buttons, 2 of them are just completely unresponsive. They'll only register after about the 3rd or 4th click. I'm a bit upset, as I've only been using the stick for about 2 weeks, but I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade it a bit, so it's not a big deal.

On that note, Markman, I was looking at some of your past sticks, and I was wondering if you could hook me up with the image file for your "Chun Li ass shot" stick. As long as I'm taking apart my stick to install these new parts, I'd love to combine that image with a few others to create a new overlay.

Does anyone have an xarcade solo and can recommend it for the 360/PS3 (with adapters)? Im looking for a good stick I can use on both since I have all the capcom fighters on the 360 and the rest on the PS3.

Taking what you said into consideration, I went with the TE. The Hori manufactured buttons are a bit worrysome and cord storage was very convenient when I had my previous TE sticks.

I also heard the TEs are easier to dual mod. Are dual modded fightsticks typically allowed in tournaments?

Hopefully if you plan on dual modding it you got a 360 TE and not a PS3. It's much easier to dual-mod a 360 with a Chimp SMD than modding a PS3 by adding another PCB and imp/switch.

I'm glad you enjoy using it. We'll be using the same parts in the upcoming WWE All Stars - BrawlSticks. Please note the WWE All Stars - BrawlSticks use a special layout (identical to MVC2 TE)

Code:
X Y LB LT
A B RB RT

Code:
SQ TRI L1 L2
X CIR R1 R2

The Sanwa GT-C stick is great. I use it on my modded SE that I mess around with at home and on this:

ALSO! If you guys didn't know. You could also order parts on the GameShark store...

We have some OBSF-30s/24s and JLFs. In addition to TE parts such as the top panels, bezels, and shaft/dust covers.

can someone explain the difference between the uhhh.....gates?

octogonal or....w/e

and why one isnt good i guess? for tekken or something?

Three different types. Square gates(which is default for most Japanese arcades as well as the madcatz sticks. Octagonal and circular which has typically been the standard for American arcades.

With square and octagonal gates you feel the corners when the stick hits the edges of the gates. On a round gate you feel no corners. It's really just a matter of preference.

Since I got my first arcade stick last year for SF4 (and promptly got rid of the game), I'm thinking about getting the MK game & stick. I now just have a stick sitting around with no use :( Does anyone have any impressions of it so far? I don't know if I should drop the coin for it or not. Does anyone know if it works with the PSN release of MK as well?

I bought one of those aluminum Battops and it said you may need to add another spring as they are heavy. Is there a larger spring that I should buy? I went to lizardlick and bought it and a Sanwa JLF-SP spring. Do i just use 2 springs on top of each other for added tension?
Edit* RND 2 TE stick

Bought myself a HRAP.V3.SA. Is it easy to mod? I had a HRAP3 before this, is the process the exact same in terms of switching out buttons etc.? Oh yeah, how exactly would I got about swapping the gate? I'm not too familiar with that. Thanks.

I would say if you have patience and know what you're doing, yes it is easy to mod.

Super easy to mod a V3-SA. Just jump in from the bottom and you'll have full access.

Swapping out the gates is easy, just find the tabs on the JLF press in and pull down.

For the buttons, it's the same. Just pop em out and put what you want in.

I just tossed some Semitsu LS-32 springs in my sanwa JLF for added tension, oh so good, about 98% of the time the moves i want to come out, come out. Mahvel3 and SSF4 work great, problem i have for some reason, when playing mahvel2 or HD remix, when facing left, i have trouble with Foward, down, forward motions, i have to really jam them in for them to come out in those games. Mahvel3, SSF4, everythings smooth as butter. gonna test it out on blazblue:CS now.

Does anybody know where you can purchase customized artwork for arcade sticks?

Most people design there own or get it from others like the various threads at SRK like this one

http://shoryuken.com/f177/official-street-fighter-iv-te-se-fighstick-template-thread-175293/

If you want you can spend the next several hours looking for free templates designed by other members. All you need to do is download it, put it on a USB thumb drive, and go to a Kinko's and get it print out on one of there high end printer and your good. There is also the process of cutting and putting it on the stick yourself, but that's another story.

Anyways, I recently got my Hori VLX dual modded. It's a 360 stick and the modder put a ChimpSMD PCB in it. At first the buttons were all out of place, he gave me instructions and I fixed it myself. Now my only issue is that the Xbox Guide button doesn't work when plugged into a 360. On a PS3 though it works flawlessly as the Home button. I can live with it for now but hopefully if I run into another modder again I can get this fixed.

You do realize that you can use your arcade stick for more than just fighting games, right? :P

Of course, but I prefer my DS3 to the arcade stick for non-fighting games. I was just wondering if anyone had any impressions of the MK stick yet and if it's worth the price. Because of the button layout, I can't see it being comfortable for anything but the MK series. I hope that the stick will work with the downloadable MK game, but I doubt it.

Does the downloadable MK game support custom control config? if it does, then you're gold.
UMK3 on XBLA doesn't support custom controls, so you might have problems though.

Anyone have tips on how to get this E-ring off the bottom of a JLF?

I picked up some springs from LL and would like to try out some of the Seimitsu springs I got in my JLF before starting Marvel. It feels like it's glued on or something!

It doesn't release until April, and as far as I can tell, none of us are going to have access to the stick before release.

I'm debating pre-ordering it because I like the idea of having a stick with American-style parts, but something tells me that they're not going to learn from Namco's mistake with the T6 stick (they made too many), and that they're going to be deeply discounted a few months after release. So I'm torn.

God's Beard, you just made me more interested in LS-56-01s... heh.
