Most people design there own or get it from others like the various threads at SRK like this one

http://shoryuken.com/f177/official-street-fighter-iv-te-se-fighstick-template-thread-175293/

If you want you can spend the next several hours looking for free templates designed by other members. All you need to do is download it, put it on a USB thumb drive, and go to a Kinko's and get it print out on one of there high end printer and your good. There is also the process of cutting and putting it on the stick yourself, but that's another story.

Anyways, I recently got my Hori VLX dual modded. It's a 360 stick and the modder put a ChimpSMD PCB in it. At first the buttons were all out of place, he gave me instructions and I fixed it myself. Now my only issue is that the Xbox Guide button doesn't work when plugged into a 360. On a PS3 though it works flawlessly as the Home button. I can live with it for now but hopefully if I run into another modder again I can get this fixed.

If you could take some clear pictures of the wiring I might be able to tell you what's wrong with it and how to fix it. The ChimpSMD is made to REALLY easily dual mod a 360 stick, so how that even happened is strange.

Does the downloadable MK game support custom control config? if it does, then you're gold.
UMK3 on XBLA doesn't support custom controls, so you might have problems though.

Nope. It's really shortsighted in my opinion to have a fighting game only playable on a pad.

It doesn't release until April, and as far as I can tell, none of us are going to have access to the stick before release.

I'm debating pre-ordering it because I like the idea of having a stick with American-style parts, but something tells me that they're not going to learn from Namco's mistake with the T6 stick (they made too many), and that they're going to be deeply discounted a few months after release. So I'm torn.

Those are my thoughts as well. I didn't know if I missed someone doing a review of the stick on some forum/blog/website since this thread is fairly large. I assume it'll be a decent stick but it's hard to tell for sure right now.

I haven't checked out the tech talk forum in a long time now, can anyone give me an update on what dual system wireless options are out there these days?

edit: i mean as far as diy pcb soldering jobs

I would say if you have patience and know what you're doing, yes it is easy to mod.

Super easy to mod a V3-SA. Just jump in from the bottom and you'll have full access.

Swapping out the gates is easy, just find the tabs on the JLF press in and pull down.

For the buttons, it's the same. Just pop em out and put what you want in.
Awesome. Thanks guys!

Got a dustwasher, seems like an excuse to take more pictures:

What method do you guys use to strip off the existing graphic on a SF4 SE? And then what type of adhesive to get a new one on? Is there some sort of plastic guard on top that needs to be removed first?

thanks _dementia, forgot to mention that your wood panels on the TE are classy as hell...couldn't play that without a monocle on :P

The SE art is just a vinyl sticker (actually a REALLY good quality vinyl sticker, i thought it was hard plastic at first)

To get it off you just have to peel it off slowly, using a blunt scraper helps. I personally used wd-40 to get rid of any excess residue.

To get a new one on most people go to kinkos/fedex and get lamilabels printed out. That isn't accessible where im at, so i just got the art printed out and laminated at Staples. After I went to home depot bought a $7 can of spray-on adhesive. Unfortunately the lamination on mine is too thick and rigid (you can kinda tell by how shiny it is in the pics), so it lifts where the bend is (trying to naturally straighten itself out). I had to superglue it down to fix it.

Sweet looking stick, Threi.

I just modded my SE as well. Replaced the joystick and buttons with Sanwa parts, but I changed the white buttons and ball tap to red. Also put an octagonal gate on it. Didn't change the art though.

It was pretty simple to mod, but the buttons were a pain to get in, had to use a rubber mallet to help tap them in. I think I'll use screw in buttons if I make/mod another stick.

Saw this on joystiq

Xbox 360 Hori Real Arcade Pro EX joystick is $85 on Amazon today
in the time it takes you to pronounce the words "Xbox 360 Hori Real Arcade Pro EX joystick," you could order one from Amazon for $85. Considering it usually runs $130, fighting fans might consider picking one up. After all, the fate of two worlds -- and your wallet -- hangs in the balance.

not a fighting game fan, or a stick user. just thought i would pass it on =)

My very first custom, made by those fine folks at Foe-Hammer! :D
Just in time for a tourney tomorrow.

First test of any stick is to do TEN DOORYAS facing left, and then right.

How easy it is to use one of these on a PC, or can it even be done? I recently picked up MvC3 for the 360, which is the first fighting game I've bought this gen, so I'm trying to justify the cost. If I could use the stick on more than one system that would help.

I'm hoping it's just a USB connection. That should be easy enough.

::edit::
Also probably going to pick up the new Mortal Kombat game. Not sure what the button layout for those games are since I haven't played an MK game since 3.

Is anyone having trouble getting the Madcatz Street Fighter IV SE (PS3) stick working on PC? It shows up as "PC USB Wired Stick 8818" and none of the inputs are recognised in Street Fighter IV.

Oh jesus, the madcatz se stock stick sucks. I was tring to pull the plate off of it so I could stick it on the JLS I took out of my modded HRAP3, and the screws instantly stripped like I was sticking my screwdriver into a cube of butter.

:/

And have you ever seen these?

Suction cups? Yeah I've seen suction cups before, you can buy em at any hardware store for like a buck :P

The texture on Threi's stick makes me want to see a 70's themed stick with the phony woodgrain paneling on it and stuff.

Do you need parts? I don't feel like driving to the electronics recycling facility just to drop off this stock Madcrapz SE stick. Tell me what you need and I can send it your way.

Yup, happened to me as well (and a lot of other people).

I have the material for it actually (dollar store shelf lining) :P

Okay so I finished hooking up my 360 SF4 FightPad to my TvC arcade stick. Took alot longer than I thought it was but was pretty fun. (First ever time I have modded an arcade stick and my first time soldering.)

So here is the pad hooked up with the wires I will be using to hook up with the arcade stick.

Unmodified TvC stick (but with the front panel taken off, with Home and Turbo button)

Stick hooked up to the Pad's D-pad:

All buttons and stick hooked up, along with start, back, turbo and guide button.

Finished product fully working on the 360.

I did not really like the home button so I replace it with some other random button I had laying around. I am eventually going to replace the Turbo button and hook up a switch to swap from LS, D-Pad and RS. (Using all metal big chunky switches and button, not really a fan with plastic switches :p)

good stuff label. If the 3-way switch on the TvC stick is how i think it is (basically the same as a button, with 3 signals representing dpad/ls/rs) you could use it to control the 3 way switch on the fightpad as well (just connecting the signals together but with diodes so there is no electrical interference) I don't have the TvC stick though, and i would have to test points on the fightpad, so it's all just speculation.

Now this is weird: The PS3 TE sticks use UHCI, and only work on mainboards with Intel or certain VIA chipsets, correct? I just tested the stick on my new MacBook Air, which uses a Nvidia MCP79 OHCI/ EHCI USB controller - and it works just fine. I assume the fact that the stick doesn't work on Windows with certain chipsets is actually a driver issue, not really hardware related.

Has anyone ordered from LizardLick recently? I placed an order for 8x OBSF 30s and an octogate on Saturday morning and it still hasn't shipped. Wondering if I should cancel and just grab them locally at VGNY.

That is pretty interesting, it should go in the SRK thread.

I don't have an account there, but feel free to quote me. I guess someone with low level programming and driver development knowledge might be able to figure something out.

They don't ship on weekends. I'm willing to bet you'll get a shipment email later today (if you haven't already). Even at their slowest, which is usually around the release of a new fighter, they're typically really quick at getting the orders out.

Well, I was gonna pick up a MvC TE stick from Gameshark.com. I had my stick picked out, and my new dust covers and bezel in my cart... and I find out they dont seem to ship to Canada :(

Where should I order this stuff up in Canada land?

Amazon.ca is probably your best bet. I just got a Real Arcade Pro V3 SA from there.

They dont seem to have the MvC2 TE stick that I want (I want yellow buttons to go with my Virtua Stick, heh). I might have to order one of these SF4 ones then I guess, and just buy a bunch of new parts some where.

Sorry, I haven't looked at this thread in a while. I didn't know anybody was trying to help, here it is, hopefully you can tell me something. If not then thanks anyways
