_dementia: I thought it was... the regular TE's lock switch prevents turbo/guide from activating, but the TE-S can lock turbo/guide and sel/back/start, no?

Supposedly the TE-S's revised PCB is more reliable and the updated lock switch is nice. Though some people don't like the TE-S's lack of bezel and the slightly slimmer size.

It's all up to personal preference. Both play essentially the same since they have identical Sanwa parts.
Yeah you're right. I got exposed.

anyone have experience with the rollie buttons? They are cheaper sanwa/seimitsu knockoffs but SRK TT is saying they are pretty good.

Just spotted another sick MK top panel custom:

That does not look comfortable at all.

If you're not used to the original MK arcade layout, you probably won't find this one comfortable either.

This is for the MK fans.

I'm not sure whats worse, the fact that I wouldn't mind having an extra panel for swapping out to play MK with the old layout (why the run button though, ugh) or the fact that I have enough extra parts laying around to just leave them in the panel itself.

I also have enough parts, lol.

I'm just trying to figure out what other games I want to play with that layout... realistically.

MvC3 MIGHT work--and might even feel good with the P360 (or P360-style, I can't tell) lever on the MK stick (or at least, on the version I used at PAX East). But I'd need some time to re-adjust to the layout. I was thinking that the top-left, middle and top-right buttons could be the attack buttons, the lower-left and lower-right could be for assists and the Run button for Special.

Pac-Man would probably also work well with that button layout. =p

the button placement looks a little more angled than the original MK arcade, but the more I look at it, the more it looks like it might be more comfortable that way. Was this intentional or am I just seeing things?

I remember one of the press releases mentioning it was designed for improved ergonomic use.
I suppose it could also be a way avoid legal trouble if the MK layout is copyrighted, similar to how the TE and SE panels slightly differ from the Vewlix layout.

Awesome, just ordered a Round 2. Been debating picking up a stick for the past couple weeks and was just the kind of deal I was looking for

I know near nothing about fighting sticks. I am looking to buy a good stick that I don't have to mod or so anything to work like everyone else's. I think I want a hori stick (mind not made up and no particular reason other than I like the logo/name more than mad cats.) Any suggestions? Anyone have a stick that they would be willing to sell me for cheaper than what amazon sells them for?

Any advice is welcome. I have both a 360 and a ps3, but I hear 360 is better for fighting games and I am planning to play sf3 all day when it comes out of live with friends who have 360's.

your best bet is a madcatz TE, hori ones come with hori buttons most people replace those. they're also having a sale right now if you look up a few posts to markman's post.

In terms of distance from the stick shaft to the closest face button, how does the V3-SA compare with an HRAP3 or a TE?
It's about the same. I have to verify when I get home, but the V3-SA has the same panel layout as vewlix cab, so the stick lever is less than 40mm away from the "LK" button.

Hey Everyone. I tried doing a search for this but failed and I thought this thread would be the have the people to ask. I'm trying to compile a list of non-Fighting Ps3 games that fight sticks work well for. I like fighting games but sometimes I just want to run around arcade style shooting shit. Currently I've been using my sticks to play:

Sega Genesis Collection
Turtles in Time ReShelled
Gundemonium Recollection
Tetris
Lumines
Söldner-X
R-Types
A bunch of ps/2 ShmUps

Thats basically what Ive been playing. I wish Sony required demos and at least videos for all their games. This would be a lot easier. Any advice on games or links to lists would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Rule of thumb: Anything you can play with a dpad, you can play on an arcade stick.

Except PS3 Tetris. Slow DAS (autoshift) makes playing on stick a pain.

Arcadeshock currently has the HRAP V3 SA for PS3 selling for $119 (free shipping)

That's been the cheapest I've seen them so I decided to order one since I've only got 360 sticks so far.

Hi all -

I'm new to home sticks and have just taken delivery of a WWE Brawlstick from Amazon.

The actual stick seems very firm and responsive with nice click response. However, the buttons don't seem to offer any tactile feedback at all and feel a bit "loose" - I was expecting buttons that clicked in the same way that arcade buttons do - did I get a bad model, or is this what they are all like?

That's the way they are (they're clone buttons, but they are supposed to mimic Sanwa arcade buttons and do so pretty well). You could possibly swap them out for some 30mm Seimitsu buttons if you want something with more resistance.

No it's cool - I just didn't think they felt very robust. As long as I know it's going to not break after a month of moderate usage, I can get used to them feeling spongy.

Thanks for your help!

You're probably just more familiar with arcades from the 90's. Most sticks these days have buttons like that as most of them are using japanese arcade parts or some variant.

Yeah - the last time I used sticks at home was a Competition Pro on the Commodore 16 and the last time I used a stick in the arcade was when Street Fighter two launched :)

I love the fact that the brawlstick feels almost as stiff as my old Competition Pro did which was truly the best joystick I've ever owned :)

Ordered this last night. My first arcade stick. Looking forward to trying it out. I know I'm anxious, but I still have not received my tracking number yet. I've gotten the e-mail with the order summary, but that's it. Anyone have any experience ordering from Canada Cup? How long does it take for them to process an order?

I bought a *used* Mad Catz SF4 SE fightstick. It was pretty much a POS as I expected. I fixed the washer issue on it, but now the majority of the buttons are sticking after I press them.

Does cleaning the buttons fix this? Also what product do you use to clean the buttons I have heard rubbing alcohol and I have heard Windex as well.

I have an old X arcade stick I am going to see if I can put those buttons in w/o frying anything, that's assuming they will physicially fit which is reach on it's own. I will eventually order some replacement button but it's not in the budget until next month so I have to make do with what I have. :P

Hi MarkMan!
I'm in europe/france, I emailed them a couple of times already about Dust Cover Sets never got an answer, honestly, I see promotions every month on the US site, and it saddens me that MadCatz, doesn't carry much over here neither really cares about their consumer base :(

So are there any noticeable differences between the Round 1 and 2 TEs for PS3? I'll be picking up a TE and I prefer the white base of the TE Round 1 but I'll pick up a Round 2 and just paint the base if it's that much better. I'd prefer a TES but those are so hard to find new anymore...plus no sale on them! :P

FWIW, I'll also be switching out the PCB for a PS360 and the buttons for red ones if that makes a difference.

Also MarkMan, I know this deal is for "a limited time" but does that time extend until next Friday? I'll probably buy either way, but it'd be nice to save a few bucks. :P

You might as well buy new buttons from lizardlick.com (or MadCatz themselves). The buttons in the SE are pretty janky IMO. But cleaning them might work for at least the next month.

Yeah Sanwa buttons feel the same way and they last for years. Very durable stuff, your clones probably aren't as good but the feel isn't an indicator of durability.

A month is all I need :P.

I cleaned them inside and out with rubbing alcohol and so far they haven't been sticking. I just hope it stays that way for awhile.

I'm really considering buying an arcade stick now, preferably not a used one but I wouldn't know where to get one. I would probably bite on that promotion Madcatz has running, but I'm European so that's no option. Just checked if it would be feasible to use a US to EU middleman shipping service, but it looks like that would cost me more than if I ordered it someplace else at the normal price. I found a hugely discounted Tekken Special Stick Edition but the wireless stick would bother me way too much because of the battery eating. It seems like the TE ones come highly recommended and for 120 dollars I'd get one for sure, but I can't find anything close from European vendors. Guess I'm gonna remain on the lookout for now, I'm really itching to get one, but I don't want to halfass the purchase.

No real difference other than aesthetics.

I've recently ordered my first stick. Ended up going with a WWE All-Stars BrawlStick. It looks silly, but it's currently cheaper and easier to find than the SFIV SE FightStick (plus, free shipping from Amazon made it a pretty good deal). TE is too expensive for me, so I had to get a cheaper one that's also easy to mod in case something breaks or if I feel like getting those fancy Sanwa parts and I don't think that process can be made any easier than what MadCatz has done with their sticks.

Ya. I bought a brand new (and my first ever stick) TE Round 2. I thought the buttons would be very tight in their sockets and shit, but they were loose and shit. I guess that's just the way they are.

Bought the Chun Li TE at Fry's a week before the spring sale, got kind of peeved but they do match internet shop prices (minus shipping) so I got $29 back which was awesome.

I've never used a fighting stick before outside of a couple mashing sessions at arcades and I'm having a bit of difficulty adjusting.

My biggest peeves are that the stick rotates in place and that the actual ball top isn't smooth because of how the plastic is formed so there's that ring on it.

Looks sexy though:

I finally found my old Capcom Fighter Power Stick for the SNES. After a couple searches at my parents house turned up nothing, I figured they probably sold it or threw it out, but it was sitting in a box in my garage the whole time. Can't find the NES/SNES cords though. Are these things mod-able? Are they worth anything?
