Anyone know how much shipping a stick within the US normally costs? I'm working on a deal on a SE stick and want to take that into consideration.

I think it's about 15-20. Getting mine shipped from the US to Canada was around 30.

How are liking the stick? I'm really interested in getting one, but to drop that much cash on an unknown kinda makes me hesitant.

On another note, how much latency does wireless actually add? Here's my situation: A few years ago, I picked up a Hori Fightstick for Wii. It pretty much sat unused outside of Samurai Shodown Collection and TVC. SS4AE comes out for PC and I decide I want to finally become competent on a joystick (especially after EVO this year!) Bluetooth adapter+GlovePIE later, and I'm playing on AE on PC!

Now I don't know much about latency, (outside of turning triple buffering off for AE when online; very noticeable) but I can't feel any playing with this setup. Is this a case of something not being noticeable to a beginner or am I crazy?

Sorry for the long ass post!
1. Qanba's sticks are generally top-notch. Same arcade parts as the high-end MadCatz and Hori sticks with similar layouts, and the added bonus of delicious gray-market 360/PS3 compatibility.

2. Wireless is always going to add some latency, but it won't necessarily be a big deal unless you're needing to pull off extremely picky things like 1-frame links.

Would that really work? Has anyone hear tried that out? I'm interested in getting it because it's apparently a good quality stick. I saw a review for an adapter that you can't configure the L and R buttons on Amazon which isn't a good thing. I don't know if that's true, but it was what I saw on Amazon. The reason I want something cheap is I don't really have a lot to spend on a really good stick so this seems like a really good deal if it works of course.
If you press home+L or home+R to turn the L and R buttons to digital buttons, that'll make it work.

Just got my TE from MadCatz seen here with it's little brother:

Didn't get a Keychain though, IMMA FIND YOU AT PAX MARKMAN!

Hm, I'm thinking since I have small hands the largeness of the TE isn't really a needed factor for me that much. Does the weight and size make a huge difference with having it in your lap though?

the size of your hands doesn't really make a difference since the parts and layout is the exact same...the extra real-estate makes it move around less, which is a plus. However that is more bulk, which is a minus. Just preferences really.

Yes.

It's action-reaction at work, really. If you have a light stick in your lap, pushing a direction will end up moving the whole thing instead of just the lever which also undoes the direction you were trying to push in the first place. With a heavy stick, it's much less affected by what motions you're doing and is far more stable in general. The larger surface area also makes it more comfortable to have your hands on it because you can rest them without being next to an edge.

Hm. I think I'll still try to work out a deal on a modded SE if possible and only get a TE as a last resort because... well they're just too expensive for me right now and I don't know how long I'll stick with it.

I said 'fuck it' and put in an order for the White 360 TE 'S'. Will post my thoughts when I get it in.

Hoping shipping from Madcatz is quick.
The processing takes a little bit but once mine shipped it actually came a day earlier than expected.

I got the Black one - I really want the artwork on the white one instead! Someone help me modify mine haha.

Not being able to afford one is one thing, but when it comes to arcade sticks you really do get what you pay for.

Still putting together plans to mod my HRAP3, and I have a quick question.

In most tutorials, the demonstrator rips off the original carbon fiber decal that is stuck to the metal plate before overlaying their own art with plexiglass on top. Is that step necessary? I don't want to ruin the original art in case I decide to go back to it. Couldn't I just place the new artwork on top of the decal?

i left the decal on mine, i think it'd be harder to deal with the glue residue if you peeled it off than leaving it on and dealing with a little extra height. I just laid my art over it and its held down by the plexi and buttons, no glue or anything.

Strongly considering putting some extra weight in my brawl stick exactly for this. Even on a flat surface i'll push the whole thing if i'm using a charge character.

Ok, speaking of HRAPs, I need help with one. I have an original model HRAP1 with mirror panel that's several years old and has picked up more than its fair share of battle damage, so to speak. Unfortunately, not all the scratches are light so I think a simple polish job wouldn't cut it. I'm also interested in changing the button layout so a replacement seems to be in order, but with what? How rigid are plexi panels?

art makes plexi top panel replacements, not sure how well they hold up though

Hey MarkMan, are there any plans of selling top panels for TE FightSticks in the future?

I was a bit bummed to find out that your last batch of top panels were only exclusive to Evo.

I think it would be great for the community, business-wise as well, if you guys were to sell them.

Just stumbled upon an eBay auction for a used TE for 90 dollars, but when I went to click on it someone bought it just then. I hate it when that happens.

The good thing is if you do buy a used TE or HRAP you'll be able to get your money back if you decide to sell it. Of course, soon after evo will probably be the hardest time to snatch up a stick like that.

Speaking of used OG TEs. I have one for the 360 for sale. Figured I'd post here before I throw it up in the B/S/T thread. It is in excellent condition. PM me an offer if interested.

Argh, just realized I have two GRE exams to pay for... should stop shopping around for sticks. Maybe once the EVO hype dies down I'll be able to find something... and I'll have money.

Thanks for all the help you guys have been offering.

Yes..

Okay got some help and managed to make a proper Trapcom logo, so I figured I'd post it here for anyone that wants to use it for any stick templates they are working on.

Click on the image for a big version.

Think i figured out my issues. My right hand can hit the buttons a lot faster than my left can make a motion (duh). So i was consistently hitting punch or kick before the movement was complete.

It felt like i was completing the motion and the button tap at the same time but the game was seeing the final part of the movement after the button push.

Hrm. I'm currently playing on a HRAP and was thinking about buying another stick.
I've been looking at the HRAP V3 SA, but I'm a bit worried about the small handspace and the angle of the edge. Doesn't look too good for the wrist.

Has anyone felt any pain or discomfort after using one for a while?

Now that R2 sticks are pretty scarce, would you guys ever issue some reprint R2 top panels?
I imagine that would undermine selling brand new sticks to existing stick owners, and there might be licensing issues, but I really hope it happens. I like that Ikeno art.

It's comfortable to me. I actually experience more discomfort resting my wrist on the flat surface of the TE for extended periods. The angled wrist rest area on the V3-SA is quite welcome to me.

Oh, that's nice. Wish any of the stores here in Sweden had any so I could try them out. :/

Well, it's one of the cheaper sticks I can find, incl. shipping to Sweden, so I might just give it a go.

Man, to top everything off it looks like my 'local' (it's on the other side of the state) SF community uses 360s, so whatever I do end up getting isn't going to work there.

How cool are people at weekly game nights about letting others use their sticks in the fighting community? Maybe I can find a closer place in a nearby state anyway.

If I know the person they might borrow it, but I do know 2 people that go all HULK SMASH on their/other sticks. Luckily, I play on a K-stick (with Sanwa buttons) and not many people use that so I get to have it for myself :)

Aluminum/aluminium body with a Myoungshin Fanta, Sanwa buttons and a PaeWang PCB. On the back there's a handle which I've drilled to accomodate a 24mm button rim with a USB A male inside, makes it easy to connect/disconnect a USB cable. The bottom plate is "fastened" with velcro which means I can easily open it to access the stick and buttons and also use it as a cable compartment.

Gotta echo what dementia said. I just bought a VX-SA which is the same case mold as the V3-SA and going in my biggest worry was the proximity of the slope to the buttons. But it ends up working nicely and it's much more comfortable, to me, than my OG TE was resting my wrist on the bezel.

Alright, thanks!
I love how the stick looks, and that was basically the only thing I was worrying about (well, that and the lack of people selling plexi, but that seems to be fixed soon). Gonna think about it a while, but I think I'll buy one.

My only gripe with the HRAP V series is that they're a tad too light for my taste, but you can always add mass and they're decently sized to begin with.

Curious: Any real difference in the various TE sticks? Like the Round 2 or the white one or the MvC3 stick?

Or is it mostly just the casing?

Hi there, first contribution to this thread!

Here's my custom artwork for Hori Real Arcade Pro 3. I didn't print it, made some mistakes with resolution / size of the PDF file...

Can't wait to see it on my stick!! I certainly will post some pictures next week, when I will put the overlay.

And by the way, I'm very impressed by some custom sticks that look very amazing! I follow this thread for a very long time! Nice to be part of it now!

Mostly just the case. The TESes have revised PCBs with the lock switch disabling start and select/back.

Yeah, I've heard about the weight. I'm used to the weight of my HRAP1, but, for some reason, can't find any site listing it's weight.
Anyway. Should be easy to fix, as you said.

Looks nice and clean. Will probably fit a HRAP well. I like!

EDIT: Nooo! Just when I was going to place an order from Amazon, the stick was out of stock. ;_;

Chun Li TE-S's are the best. The PS3 ones show which controller number is assigned to the stick. Wish I could get one to put into my regular ol' TE-S.

Not only that, they're compatible with far more PC chipsets than older TE's.
Additionally, they're the only PS3 TE's that are officially licensed by Sony (other than the Japanese SSFIV TES)
