In addition to the VF5 stick, Hori also announced a new "Fighting Edge" stick for PS3 and 360.

Looks pretty hot, I'd say.

The case + Astro-ish layout on the Fighting Edge look great, but we'll see how the new Hori parts stack up... If they're solid, then I'm glad that we've got another good budget option (and such a pretty one *.*).

Thank Markman/Mad Catz again for getting Hori to step their game up, lol.

(add me to the "I want the VSHG back" pool)

EDIT: The FE is $240?! Then I have no idea what market Hori is trying to target with that. O.x It's a non-budget stick with in-house Hori parts... what exactly warrants the premium?

God, if that Fighting Edge stick only has sanwa/seimitsu buttons and lever... Why Hori!??!?

IMO there's no point on not using the best parts out there.

Apparently the Fighting Edge uses a brand-new redesigned lever and buttons by Hori. SRK says it " should be a match for the standard arcade buttons in most sticks," but I think that's just speculation on their part.

Not really feeling that VFFS hori. I think that (along with dementia) I am well known for my VSHG obsession... I will say MarkMan into the mirror five times to make him appear and make it a reality.

Does anyone know if Tekken / Namco Hybrid stick is available in Europe?

Also this is a long shot but are there any other UK posters in this thread? I want to trade my current 360 TE Round 2 (mint condition) for a PS3 version of the same stick; or alternatively just sell it to anyone UK-based that's interested.

I'm UK. You're better off posting on neo empire for trades within the UK.

Man, I was hoping no one would say that; don't like the Neo Empire forums - such a weird, incestuous, unfriendly clique. If you're not literally down at Casino playing every day so that you're recognised and "accepted" it's hard to get to know anyone or feel like you can trust them enough to trade.

I wonder why it's so expensive if it's hori's own parts? Anyway I like the stick design. Kind of like the e-tokkis.

Yeah there's a lot of pricks on NE, unfortunately that's how the UK scene for competitive gaming has always been, but there's a few guys that are ok. Most of them tend to think they're hot shit because they hang around with Ryan hart or Zak, me and a few friends ran into them at WGC 09 and had them a 5v5, obviously they acted like cocky dicks but they got shit on and Ryan had to save them. I honestly think the UK in general would be super strong if people got their heads out of their own ass and stopped thinking they're hot shit because they can stomp scrubs.

Might as well post the PS3 version.

Personally like the 360 with colored buttons. Stick looks a little tacky, though. Nice big, big size which is nice.

Well well well... look what I took tonight!

Nicely done.

I like the look of the Hori VF stick but I'm not a fan of that new RAP case. Also, WTF at the all-Hori ~$240 stick. Unless this thing has some crazy macros built into the circuitry that will make me godlike at Street Fighter, do not want.

All these humongous cases. I need to get fatter so they can sit on my lap better.

I completely love the size of the Hori Fighting Stick V3/VX. I wish there were more sticks in that size. I can't wait for my V3 to come in the mail (even though I'm scared I'll ruin it modding it haha).

That Ono pic is great, I love how willing he is to just be out there acting all crazy. That Hori Fighting Edge stick isn't quite my style (a little too souped up with those blue strips) but I do like that they seem to be putting in some solid design work around the product.

I play with my stick on the floor, so I like the big case trend, really need to pick one up as my current stick that I'm using scoots around too much.

Actually, if you look at the case from the side angle, you'll see that the base is not as wide as it seems. It has the HRAP V3/VX style top panel overhang.

Maybe so, but I still feel awkward sitting underneath something that's bigger than me.

More small sticks! That is what I say as well. I wanna see something to replace the SFSE/Brawl from Madcatz.

Oh yeah, the mother said your seimitsu stick arrived a while back in cali! Many thanks! Might not have it sent out here and just go controller for Under Defeat since I'm leaving in a few months and space is kinda tight now.

Sorry, I haven't picked yet. I want to do it right. Please be patient until after Final Round!

ALSO.

So excited for Hori's new sticks in May. Can't wait to scoop them up for the collection.

Cool!

So excited for Horis new stuff, too.

Sucks that they are Hori Store only but I'll find a way to get them. Hopefully CD Japan comes through with the Gundam stick and, if so, I'll go through them for the new ones.

Hey guys, just looking for some advice and insight on purchasing my first stick. I've been looking around for a while I've come to the decision my best bet is to go with a Qanba Q4RAF. It seems to be reasonably priced and uses sanwa parts.

However before I go ahead and take the plunge just wondering if anyone has some additional insight as to another stick or some recommended places to get it from. I'm currently in the UK.

Few questions about JLF installation:

1-Any tips on making the unit straight in the WWE BrawlStick?
2-The shaft cover seems too long. I decided just to leave it off for now. Are you supposed to push the shaft up from behind so the ball can make contact to the shaft's thread base?

Other than that, tested it out and notice immediate imporvement over the stock.

If the shaft cover is too long, then the lever isn't mounted at the correct height. I don't know a whole lot about mounting a JLF so I don't know if this is an issue with the BrawlStick or not.

I found my receipt for the Virtua Stick HG and it only cost me $79 (minus shipping) in 2007 and now Chinese made Qanba and Madcatz gear cost twice as much, if not more?!? The times...

Yeah.

VSHG at the yen conversion rate at the time was only $72 retail. Times change :(
You could never imagine getting a full Sanwa stick at that price these days.

I want to mod one of my Hori EX-SE sticks to go wireless. Is there a specific 360 wireless controller I would be better off using over another? Can the official 360 pad be hacked as such easily? I recall that the official Dreamcast pads were poor choices for padhacking into sticks, something about the trigger buttons needing extra work, resistors, I believe. Is there a similar situation for the official 360 pads?

I realized I haven't been using my arcade sticks much lately, and silly as it is, it's convenience. It's annoying to have to plug the damn things in. Especially since USB ports are so freaking tiny, and the locations of my 360 and PS3 are such that there is little light illuminating the USB ports for access. Do you know how annoying it is to try and plug in a USB cord in low light?

I also want to mod one of my Hori PS3 sticks with an AXISdapter. For that I just need to hunt down an older Dual Shock 3.

edit: I see now that I should probably use one of the MadCatz 360 wireless pads. I thought they only made wired ones, though.

double edit: anyone have a wireless tekken 6 360 PCB they want to sell me. :P

My job requires me to plug in USB devices into ports I cannot physically see at all on a regular basis. You can't complain.

On a practical note - if you mod a wireless PCB into your EX-SE, how are you going to deal with battery changes?

I'll likely just have the batteries mounted inside the stick casing somewhere, secure but easily accessible. I'd need to open up the top plate to replace them. A little annoying, but it's either inside the case, outside the case (which would be an eyesore), or cut some kind of access port into the case with a dremel. I don't really want to mess with the casing like that.

I know this weekend you were able to get kappa stickers by ordering something from brokentier. Don't know if that's still going on.

As much as I like the general HRAP V3 case design, I've gotta admit I've been less than impressed by the character artwork on the licensed variants so far... The fact that the new V3 variant is for the fighting game series I probably care the least for doesn't help, either! LOL

Oh well, at least the Fighting Edge refit sort of revives the HRAP V3 case design.
Built-in LED is nice. A return to top-removing faceplate is welcome, too. At least it looks like the case has button-head screws like the HRAP SA's did.

I guess it's a good thing that Mad Catz and Qanba are forcing Hori to up the game a bit with the SC V/Gundam Extreme case as well as the Fighting Edge stick with newer, (hopefully better engineered) custom Hori parts!

(Crossing my fingers that the new Hori buttons are at least as good as Seimitsu PS-14-G's if not Pearls and PS-14-D's... Sanwa quality response and feel would be unreal! I'd hate to completely gut the parts and re-equip the joystick. I know at the very least I'll probably swap out the joystick lever if I get my hands on a Fighting Edge.)

I wouldn't complain about it if I were Canadian!

That's a steal at that price... anywhere in North America for a high-quality, unused joystick.

ESPECIALLY for a 360 joystick!

I wish they offered white molded plastic joysticks more often for the PS3. They are usually only limited edition joysticks.

I always wonder - after people mod their stick and give it some graphics under plexi don't they regret it since plexi is cold in touch and not the most comfortable material to rest your hands on.

Gah I love Arts work, the new fight stick stuff he is doing looks sick. I just hate that living in the UK means I have to spend $40 on delivery just to get it here.

The off-white case of the HRAP VX-SA isn't that attractive IMO. I would have preferred white to creme.
