So did anyone ever win Yes Boss!'s stick pic contest?

IIRC, Yes Boss wanted Markman to be the judge of the contest, and since Markman has been crazy busy lately what with the release of the new SFxT sticks and Cross Assault and whatnot I don't think he's had a chance to pick a winner yet.

The Fighting Edge EX (the 360 version) already sold out in Japan. The PS3 version is still available. I guess HORI and sako's appearance on Kao TV yesterday had a huge influence. They said that production is limited, but I guess they'll probably be doing more than a single run.

They sure look nice, but I couldn't consider buying one until I know how the new Hori parts stack up. Especially considering how much the stick costs.

hi guys, i posted on the street fighter x tekken page but i got no replay. then i saw this thread! well my question was i saw that the game is coming out for PC so i was thinking "now is my chance to get back into fighting games" so since i would like to stay on my pc whats a good stick for pc use?

MarkMan won.

Not yet D:

Sorry everyone & Yes Boss!! I've been traveling but I'm home this weekend. I'll be picking a winner tomorrow. In the meantime, I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts. This is going to be tough to pick just ONE. So everyone check this link:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=35339812&postcount=18512

And tell me YOUR reasons why you think one person should win over the other!

I'll reply tomorrow with my winning choice.

So.. I had ordered a VS stick directly from Madcatz store. I got it but never used it and had to sell it. Now the guy who got it says its not working ( I never plugged it in so I don't know if he is telling the truth or not)... what are the chances of this!? I have the receipt I got off of the Gameshark website, how can I help this new owner get the stick fixed?? Markman??

I'm still holding on to my Fightstick SE from the Vanilla IV days, lol. I just bought some Seimitsu PS-14s for it. Can't wait for them to get in. =D

Ohhh....stick contest judging! Fingers crossed. Would love to try that VS stick.

I see these Astro City panels (below) float by every so often on ebay and I keep getting tempted to do another DIY project. I'm solid with woodworking and my father is clutch, so I'm thinking that we could put together a pretty cool little two player table / panel, maybe with legs that could adjust for standing or sitting height. I'm sure we could get something pretty nice looking if I ever could scrounge up the free time / money for it. Really wish there was some legal way to purchase MAME roms as well. If they did, I'd just get a solid two stick setup and never buy another console game again.

Congrats Enzo! Awesome to hear it's going to someone previously sans-stick.

Here are more ducks with arcade stick, if you're curious:http://www.flickr.com/photos/76633899@N03/sets/72157629318912347/

I chose the one I sent to Yes Boss! because that particular duck was awesome and friendly. He ate bread out of my hand in an uncharacteristically chill way.

These ducks just didn't give a shit:

I like this one, but it wasn't a good shot of the stick. Also too much bread:

Lots more at the first link, if you like ducks I guess.

Thanks again to Yes Boss! Very cool of you.

Mini-Chun-Li might have been defeated. But she's not the type to give up, back to the training lab! Or maybe I should have just dressed'em as Makoto and Heihachi.

Can't argue with Enzo winning though, I've got sticks already :). Thanks for running the contest and being so generous Yes Boss!

In addition to Enzo's I liked the Finland white and the PC-HRAP-SE setup pictures. The Starbucks Chun-li was kinda amusing as well, but could have use a little more light.

I've got one that looks like this. Came in a two-pack and I put one in a candy cab. I've always wanted to make a home-made custom saturn stick out of the extra one.

BTW, Akihabarashop.jp sell a bunch of new panels in all forms for not to much money...usually $100-250-ish.

Honestly I can't believe publishers sitting on these games don't just sell roms bundled with a simple MAME build on GOG or Steam for a few bucks.

The MAME license even seems to allow for authorized ROM distributors to bundle MAME:
Q. If I obtain a license from an original manufacturer to distribute the ROMs can I use MAME to run them?
A. Generally, no, because it constitutes a commercial use of MAME. However, we have in the past made a couple of exceptions for this particular case. We will not consider making any further exceptions without proof that such a license has already been obtained.

Publishers could probably even legally distribute the existing MAME rom dumps and avoid doing any real work altogether. Hell they could even go crazy and add in simple hacks that save high scores for leaderboards.

Yeah, I'm usually not a big fan of licensed / character art work. But for some reason the whole "artwork under the clear buttons" look makes it all much classier to me. Sorta makes it a fully finished product as opposed to just slapping artwork on a stick.

This, absolutely this. That Ibuki stick works because they worked with the art.

Having artwork that is interrupted by sticks and buttons just screams lazy and slapdash. I fucking hate it.

The Starbucks Chun-li was kinda amusing as well, but could have use a little more light.

Heh, that one was dark because it was taken quickly. There's a policy at Starbucks about no pictures inside the cafe. The one I was at is one of the few I've seen where the employees actually are known to enforce the rule, so I had to do it quickly. I figured it wasn't a big deal since yes boss said it was more conceptual than execution :)

Congrats enzo, I'm glad you got a real stick now :)
I'm also extremely jealous :P

:O

Oh my, I'm humbled. Thank you based Yes Boss! and based MarkMan! And thanks guys. Mini-Chun-Li and Ryu will still be #1 in my heart. Shout outs to all the other great entries. Lurking pays off!

Me right now:

Thanks for all the submissions. It was fun.

Enzo chose the Street Fighter X Tekken VS. stick for the 360.

Good choice! I don't even own one yet! I'm jealouse!!

Arcade Shock finally posted images for two of their four Q4-RAF SE sticks. Forthcoming is the Ice Blue (I think that is the yellow one) and the Black with clear black buttons. Think I'm going to have to get one of these for Seimitsu support. Kinda concerned firmware updates will lock these out.

Yeah, now that I've gotten into more retro / arcade games in my old age (kinda ironic since they are the types of games that I didn't like when I was actually a kid and they were out in arcades) the whole ROM situation just annoys me more and more. The annoyance mostly because I just don't get why companies don't go along with it, I mean, it just seems like such a win / win situation for both the companies trying to make money and for me as a consumer. Folks who don't worry about the legalities will just torrent the ROMs which are all out there in the wild already, so providing them would just give a chance for legal sales to go along with the torrents. And as a consumer I'm even ok with being a little price gouged, since my only options for these games is like trying to track down JAMMA boards or something crazy like that. So no need to worry about cannibalizing HD remix sales as for someone like me I'd be fine with paying the "HD remix" price of say $15 for a SFIII: Third Strike ROM that I can use for MAME as I would for the 360 XBLA version, which would be more total profit for Capcom without the MS cut of the profits. Plus you don't even have to do any work to upgrade them, just stick them out there on a site and let me download and run them myself. Anyways, getting too off-topic for this thread, just my little rant.

Congrats Enzo, Great Choice. it looks like a great stick :)

I think you will notice a difference playing with a stick, I do because I am not very good with a pad.

Put in an order on Amazon for a 360 FightStick PRO. I'm hoping it comes in before NCR, but I'm not too hopeful.

Also, the V.S. stick is a lot nicer than I thought. Weight feels nice, and it sits pretty nicely in my lap. I wish I had moar money to get it. D:

Sorry, this is from a few weeks ago, but I was just lurking and noticed this never got answered:

OMG, I want this stick.

Sadly gone from ebay now.

What's it referencing?

I'm guessing this is it:

...at least that's what sprang to mind.

While we're on the subject, this Rolling Stones song absolutely needs to be used for Title Screen/theme music of a game one of these days:

You can afford the licensing fee, Capcom.

Which one was Enzo's winning submission? Sorry - I went back a few pages and couldn't pin it
