Anyway, my Fightstick PRO came in today.

It's so small :3 That might be a negative to some but I like the compactness. After dropping my TE on my foot it's nice to have something that's less of a health hazard.

Had a question about the stick in it, is it the same as the one in the TE (JLF-8YT-SK)? It feels a lot stiffer (pause), but in a good way (fuck). Took me a few minutes to adjust but I'm liking it now.

That is why I'm leery of collecting the Korean ones. I've got a couple so far.

Ordered a couple VS sticks finally. Madcatz does not have the linking parts though :-( Got 360 versions and will switch the colored buttons to dark hai. Linked stick looks kinda goofy but it has to be done!

Funny you say that. One unlicensed stick, the Sega Virtua Stick High Grade was actually given support for BC PS2 through a firmware upgrade. Ah, the good old days.

It isn't Sony breaking compatibility I'm worried about. USB HID is free to use, so anyone can make a controller around it. I'm more worried about Microsoft trying to lock out however it is Quanba gets their compatibility.

Only other place I've personally dealt with was Akihabarashop.jp. They're certainly not a cheap option though, being in Japan, but service there is top notch.

I feel like if Sony/MS does make a firmware that shuts out the Qanba, Qanba could always build a new firmware and you could just flash the PCB with the new firmware?

Like I posted a few pages back one of my TE sticks broke recently. I've been a bit lazy in going to the store to pick up a replacement and now it seems that they are actually all out of TEs. My options then are either a HRAP VX SA or a Mad Catz Pro stick (SFxT one, although unfortunately not with the red color scheme).

Which would you guys recommend considering that the TE was my very first stick?

Hey I just wanted to come in here and give a public shoutout to MarkMan and Mad Catz for hooking us up with sticks for our tournaments at Midwest Gaming Classic! As an owner of their sticks since the first wave of SFIV SE's launched, I've been real impressed with their products (especially love my Namco TE S!). Now, they've got customers for life out of me and my crew because all we had to do was ask and they sent us sticks to give to our tourny winners. How often do you get to say something like that?

How broke exactly is your stick? If there isn't, say, a giant foot-sized hole in the top of it where the buttons used to go or something -- and maybe even if there is -- it's probably cheaper to try and fix it, as long as you're not afraid of doing some soldering at worst. More fun, too.

If you are going from a TE to a Hori VX then be prepared for a big loss in heft. The hori is much more plasticky...not cheaper feeling but quite a bit different. Have not tried the new MC Pros yet.

Ohhh, okay. No worries then!

The VX SA is significantly lighter and has a slightly smaller palm-rest than the TE. Madcatz's SFxT stick is similar, though it doesn't have the start button on the top panel near the attack buttons like the VX SA does. Both are great sticks, but personally, I think the VX SA is the classier-looking of the two.

I got a VX-SA and it was a little too light for me so i took the bottom off and taped a load of 2p coins inside. Now it feels like my old TE One problem ive found with it (might just be mine) is that the quick disconnects come disconnected really easily when you put the stick down too hard. Might just be my particular stick though and other than that its been great!

60$? kind of expensive for a stick without "proper" parts.
if you want a cheap / mod-able one for the start look for DATEL ARCADE PRO JOYSTICK.
stock parts are good and you should get it way cheaper (+ works on all consoles ). i bought mine for like 30$.

The absolute easiest solution is to buy a stick that works with anything out of the box. Qanba's Q4RAF and its many variants come highly regarded.

Barring that, if you want a PCB that works with 360 and PS3 from scratch, the easiest option is probably something like the Paewang Revolution PCB (available from Focus Attack). It requires some soldering, and you'll need to add the Turbo button since it also functions as the mode switch button, but there's only one PCB to worry about, so installation is straightforward. If you already have a working 360 stick that you'd like to dual-mod, you could get one of Toodles' solderless Kitty kits from Godlike Controls. He makes them for most MadCatz and Hori fightsticks. If you're willing to do some soldering, there are even more exciting possibilities.

Best stick money can buy. Got mine new for $70 back in an Amazon sale in 2009, but would have gladly paid MSRP. It is still going strong for the near daily STG play and the eventual fighter. Might change the artwork in the near future though.

I should have gotten a second one back when they were still available.
