I bought a somewhat banged up Hori Tekken 6 wireless 360 stick on ebay last week, and it arrived yesterday. I couldn't get the thing to sync with my system, and started to despair, until I cracked it open and found that the wire harness to the sync button had come apart. Also, the PCB the buttons are mounted to is cracked in one spot, rendering the A button nil. Luckily, I only wanted it for the main wireless board bit, so all is fine.
Unexpectedly though, I find myself really liking the form factor of the stick. It's a shame I passed on it when it was widely available - the small size and rounded bottom really click for me. I may pick up another one in better condition sometime down the line and mod it with a better twig and berries.

Love it! I really dig that silhouette style. I've wanted to make a stick art like that for a while but no one ever asks for an art that would fit that style.
Be careful before you attempt that... because the form factor is so small (and very short), there aren't a whole lot of twigs that actually fit. I've read about Sanwa shafts needing to be filed down and LS-32s not fitting at all.

If it's your first time using a stick, jump into training mode and practice the basics. Get comfortable jumping, then move on to special moves, practice 100 hadokens from right then left. Then 100 dragon punches, etc.
It'll take time, but you get really comfortable after a while. I hold the stick on my lap, but my cousins are OG and plant themselves on the floor with the stick in front of them.

I figured that may well be the case. I've modded the Hori Wii Fighting Stick with a Sanwa stick and had to file the shaft down as well as grind a depression in the bottom plate, but it fit. I don't know if I'm willing to try again - it was a pain. You're right, though, it is a shallow casing.
So, I'm the proud new owner of an eightarc fusion. But as soon as I opened it I noticed the plexi is bowed out under both palm areas. I'm not sure it's worth returning and I assume a new plexi would remedy it.
Where is the best place to get replacements in the US? First hit I got was tek innovations. I noticed they also do graphics for $7.50 and that's something I would likely do as long as I'm at it.
Loving the stick otherwise. But the minor flaw is making me nuts.

Yea. Was really pleased on the look. Especially since i got it to cover the whole top against the whole white body just made the contrast that much better. Fortunate that King of Fighters XIII's character out have such distinct silhouettes (thanks to the exaggerations in character proportions since the switch to HD) At least i feel its a nice change from just stock character art all over.
I also got my plexi and stock art from Tek Innovations. Great job overall but make sure you can do a test print on your printer to make sure the colors are correct. Turns out the purple on my screen came out as a dark red when it was printed out in Iori's case (which worked either way)
Using this from now on. So what.

So what does everyone rest their stick on when playing?
I recently got MK:KE for my b'day so I'm back into full-on fighting game mode. I use a SFIV:TE stick, but because my sofa is so low I have to use my lap, which is awkward to say the least. Fucking uncomfortable is another way of putting it. It always ends up moving around making pulling back become back/down, and because the sofa is so low I have to have my legs out in front of me or folded up which only takes about 10mins before the pain sets in.
I have a new (higher) sofa on order which will be delivered by the end of April, but I'm yet to find a table of the right height, angle or of suitable stability to rest the stick on.
Truth be told, I'm considering putting something together myself (was thinking of using some shelving to mash something up).
Anyone have any good adjustable height suggestions, or any links to a suitable projects that I can lose myself in on weekends?

I also use my lap, but I rarely use a TE. I'm not a big fan of using those sticks because they are overly large for no reason.

Are you resting your palm on the space below the buttons? I don't think I hover my hand over the buttons, I think I just rest my palm on the open space, with my fingers kinda hovering, slightly touching the buttons. IDK, I have to look at my hands now (I never really paid attention to it), haha. Maybe I am just used to it since I have be doing it since the 90's.

Use this and swear by it. It's solid, easy to put somewhere when not in use, can be angled a bit and adjusts easily.
Plus you can use it for eating off of, I dunno.

Thanks for that mention of the Hori coupon...snagged the 360 version of the SC stick for cheap. Now I've got both!
Not sure if the XE-1 Pro HE is good or not. I got a PC Engine a few weeks ago so went researching sticks and this one was the best apparently. I think it is metal, think. It also has a multi-tap built in. I also got the J-version of the jank Turbo Stick, just for fun. Last two are the Hori (like the Neo, Saturn and PS stylings of the era), and the Ascii. There might be more but those are the ones I'm going for. The XE-1 seems hard to find but I just went on eBay and bought a brand new one. Was not cheap but was not expensive either. They were 9000 yen twenty years ago.

Pointlessly large IMO. I know that Mad Catz has to stick to the arcade layout but it look silly to have so much empty space on the stick.
VS stick looks extra goofy because of this.

Can't find any info on the stick. Doubt there is anything special about it. Looks like a normal V3-SA.

It's a great size to fill my lap and doesn't move around because of it.
The empty space if functional. I actually think the TE is too small. The SC5 hori and the SxT mad catz sticks are great sizes.

I do own a few MCZ sticks though. A TE-S to teach me modding and an SE I plan to turn into the ugliest stick in the world. They are good quality, just not something I could use all the time

The base of my palm is on the open space, and my fingers are arcing over with the tips hovering over the buttons. I guess I just have to get used to it.

it's all preference. Many prefer the LS-32-01 (stock in EX-SE) due to the short throw. I like something even stiffer (that's what she said?) with an even shorter throw, so I stick with the LS-56-01. Many would probably think that's overkill.
haven't messed with the 58-01 at all tho I'd imagine it's nearly identical to the 56-01 - but probably slightly better. It's a bit difficult to get used to, but it helped me out in the long run.

Happy to report that CD Japan's Special Request Shopping Service was successful. They quickly delivered the Gundam stick ordered way back in december to my Irvine business address in three days.
Perhaps a little more pricey for items than a place like Tenso but you don't have to deal with the Japanese language...all you do is send them the link from the store and then they format it all and put it up on their store to order in english.
I had to go with them because I don't have a computer that can display japanese characters but I'd recommend them, in any case. Seems like a good service.
