Sorry for the late thread folks! Like last year, we're going to have another Pokémon tournament using the newest games in the series! We will follow the Standard ruleset. We will begin on January 10th, 2015.

Tournament Format
  • We will use a Swiss tournament format which means you are not eliminated once you lose a match. We will have a set number of rounds (depending on number of entrants) and each round you will be paired up against someone of a similar record. If you want to drop from the tournament, you can, but please let me know. Otherwise, everyone plays the same number of rounds.
  • Battles will be best of 3 in the Swiss portion of the tournament
  • Once the Swiss rounds are over, we will take the players with the top 8 best records and move to a single elimination tournament (I reserve the right to make this number higher based on attendance). This will also be best of 3
  • You will have four days to complete each match in both the Swiss and single elimination portions of the tournament.
Ruleset
  • All matches are played in the Doubles format.
  • Pokémon above Level 50 will be brought down to 50 for the match while those below 50 will stay as is.
  • Players choose 4 of their 6 registered Pokémon after team preview.
  • Pentagon Rule: All Pokémon must have the blue pentagon on their stats page indicating they were caught, bred, or received as an official gift in Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire.
  • Species Clause: No two Pokémon on your team can share the same Pokédex number.
  • Item Clause: No two Pokémon on your team can hold the same held item.
  • The item Soul Dew is banned.
  • The following Pokémon are banned (all formes):

Pokémon Championship Series
This tournament follows the same format as the official Pokémon Championship Series. This means you can take it to your nearest tournament and play there as well! Find them using Pokémon's Event Locator or Nugget Bridge's tournament forum.

Practice
Play in the Doubles portion of Battle Spot in the ORAS League and you will be playing with the exact same ruleset. Remember to select Ranked!

Yeah I'm going to offer up event pokemon and Shiny good natured Emerald legendaries. Yes I did play through one of my Japanese carts for you.

Since it's Hoenn themed, it'll be:

There's no cap and registration will be open at least until a day before the tournament starts so just make a new post when you want to enter!

Cool idea. I'm just going to keep an eye on the games, it's a busy season so I don't have a lot of time to compete. I don't have a good team ready yet, anyway.

I'll definitely try and join in during one of the next editions.

Oops, realized that I was supposed to put that line under my info to register, fixed that now. My team is almost ready, just need to level 2 pokemon and get items (most of my new team are actually ones I had previously trained for an XY team)

Never mind, I'm out. Most likely not going to be ready in time and the time difference will probably cause problems anyway.

I noticed that the last tourney says best of 1 in swiss but now its best of 3, so when someone wins 2 games we post the end result here?

Yep! After somebody wins twice then you just report your match like usual.

Dunno how it will go if there's an internet fart though.

Think I will unfortunately have to drop out. School hit me like a truck and I'm realizing I have much more work than I thought I did. Certainly won't be ready in time.

Really sorry for any scheduling issues this causes, Firestorm. I'm pretty bummed, myself. Hope it goes well for everyone.

Last year we could change teams as we wished through Swiss but had to stick with our teams in Finals.

Not sure how it'll work this year though.
