Can now be embedded in NeoGAF to work exactly like a gif.
In what version? It doesn't work for me in Firefox 28, just displays a play bar in a black screen with no video.+Firefox
This is history in the making.
It's time to make our own standards! Make NeoGAF Chrome exclusive!

Knocked together a Greasemonkey version of Andrex's code, for the Firefox users.
Ha, I just did more or less the same thing myself. It really does kick your PCs ass though.Someone made a Greasemonkey script over in the OT thread:
Go back a page or two, I posted the tools to make .webms.But how do we make one?

Someone with JavaScript skills is needed, because I can't do it on my own. Turning off autoplay locks me on a still of the first frame.there has to be a way to optimize them so they do not loop unless you click on them.
someone please optimize to save my CPU
They're not embedded because he saved them into .mp4 format instead of .webm.my gawd :O
(why aren't these embedded)

I've bashed together a non-autoplaying version of aforementioned Greasemonkey script. For this inital version, right click > Play starts the show. I want to get the controls showing by default (to distinguish WebMs from standard still pictures), but for a quick and dirty script at half three in the morning, it's not bad.
Here's half a meg of Kill la Kill, to demonstrate.
