I'd suggest to add meGUI under Video utilities.
It's a nice little program for encoding to x264/XviD/lavc/Snow with MP4/MKV/AVI output & audio. Some more info here and here.

You should add that Virtual PC 2007 does not support any XP or Vista Home Editions. **** knows why.

Because of your glowing praise I decided to go to the site. It definitely looks better than VLC and I like how it directs itself to a free codec site to d/l any needed codecs. I'm about to install it to see if I can say goodbye to media player classic and VLC.

yeah its good, but sometimes i got this weird slowdown after a commercial break in some tv shows, it annoyed me so i changed to zoom player wich is pretty awesome..except for the mandatory codec downloads when you install it.

You bet I don't use IE as my primary. It seems to work, but it's a little wonky. I dunno how I feel about it yet.

On this if you are using Winamp i suggest the toaster plugin instead


*edit* and for media players i used this a while back - pretty nifty piece of software (can be set to work with a lot of winamp plugins, skinnable, built in encoders, etc.)
