Did I already mention how great the OP is? Because it's fucking great.
I love how completely out there it.

Yeap I absolutely loved watching it every time, does very well at setting the tone and telling the audience what kind of show it is.
So the bad guys definately know the the doctor knows, so they are after his ass. No way to hide in the clinic now, since the blue haired guy can basically do anything he wants...
I watched this anime years ago on hulu, the weirdness of it attracted me. I'm going to enjoy reading your reactions for the second half of the series, it gets real crazy real fast.
Episode 12
New opening and ending! I think I like the first OP better, but maybe it will grow on me.
Damn you, Natsunos dad! Gaaaah, do you want to see your son dead so much?
Doesn't look good for him at the end of the episode. Will he die? Or will Tooru let him off?
And yes, DTL would very much like this.
Yeah it was that second half of the series that killed my enthusiasm, however it could go the other way for some here with how far off the deep end it falls.
Damn, despair, despair, despair for everyone. Poor Yuuki is dead, the doctor's wife us dead, Yuuki's mom , Koari's mom.... almost everyone now. We still don't know what happened to the doctor either that put him in the current state.
Episode 14
Welp, there it is. Toshio has now gone off the deep end. What next, I wonder?
Damn, the doctor has completely lost his mind. Tgat whole operating room scene was disturbing as hell. I mean, his wife tries to talk, so he duck tapes her mouth shut so he can continue the experiments.....
She was a shiki and all, but damn..
I see Cornbread didn't account for these episodes. They really add something to the last part of the show and should be watched during it.
As the name suggests these specials take place between two episodes. So 20.5 takes place after 20 and before 21, likewise 21.5 takes place after 21 and before 22.
Thought I would get that out of the way in advance for those still with us. Should have been part of regular broadcast, but maybe there were some production problems. Considering the fast pace in the second half of Shiki, it ain't that strange.
Anyway keep that in mind. The specials have the same length as the regular episodes.

The madness has begun.
I've been rewatching this along with everyone else. It's been what, 6yrs? and that scene from E14 is still seared into my brain. Powerful stuff.
