So this game is actually coming out... ?!

I know nothing of this game. What's it about? Is it like the PSP answer to animal crossing or something?

It's a ARPG where you can equip the pets with different weapons and stuff. Sony Santa Monica is developing it so it could turn out pretty well.

These are the sort of games that SCEA needs to make for PSP, new addictive franchises. I would declare this to be a bonafide hit if I knew how many "Pets" were in the game and what the reward system was like.

I'm sure Sony is publishing this. I think they want to try to create the next Pokemon through it. Sadly when the focus of all of this is around a free site that's more entertaining, it'll never work.

Being made in Sony San Diego, actually - a friend of mine went to go work on it, and has been in crunch since he started there.

I get the impression it's either not good, or just narrowly avoided being bad when they added three more months to its schedule - he doesn't seem to know any more. The PS2 game wasn't good, though, so I expect the same here.

This is the same Neopets license that was also used during the Tomagotchi craze? Because I had a neopet, it was some purple looking one.

I still question to this day how this franchise came to be "real." Started back when PKMN/Digimon was becoming popular as some free website thing to today where it's made into actual videogames and junk. If a derivative, cash-in on other monster game popularity thing like this can make it big..Nintendo oughta be worried about Dogz and Dog Trainer. :lol As for the game itself it looks solid graphically. PS-ish but not bad 'cept for the character art. Dunno why MTV/Sony wanna market this ta PSP owners but crazier things have happened!

The PS2 version of NEOPETS: The Darkest Faerie wasn't all that bad of a little action/adventure game. Far from perfect, but above-average, I'd say. I wouldn't be surprised to see the PSP game turn out to be a fun little gem even if it isn't anything extraordinary.
