I finally got the Xbox mode to show up on my Windows 11. It showed up last night. Finally!
But no fancy boot up animation. Not like when entering the Steam Big Picture mode.
Not complaining since I FINALLY have the Xbox mode. Geesh. Took them long enough. I played with it a bit. It is very similar to the Series X UI. You can even switch between 2 running games. Though it's not quick resume.

How do you get the mode to show up in windows? I thought it was available to everyone, but I don't have it. Windows is fully up to date, and the windows store says my Xbox app is up to date too. Is this just more sloppy Copilot coding?

How so? Just curious.

Between this, the achievements change and just her general attitude of "back to the console". Phil Spencer had written off console. He was asked about what Xbox console gamers could expect going forward back in 2023 when he went into his rant about losing Xbox One gen was the worst gen to lose. Everyone took that as him waving the white flag and he really was. Asha is actually directing energy into improving Xbox consoles. Not saying it has been a lot, but really it wouldn't take much to surpass Phil Spencer

That's my take on it anyway

nah....just a cosmetic change

Ah. Damn. I keep hoping they'll at least give to option to separate achievements out for DLC's. Unless they have already and I haven't looked? But I don't think they have. Guess I can check the app on my pc when I get home.

will it be faster again? last time they changed the boot animation it was due to them booting the system faster.
I wonder if that's the case here again.

My first real console was the original Xbox. I remember getting it on Christmas 2001, I can never abandon my love (except when I abandoned Xbox One for PC). So anything positive Xbox, even if it's just a startup makes me happy.

Luck of the draw unless you install special work arounds. I did not want to do any weird work around. I just waited. and waited and waited some more. It's completely at the whim of MS as to who gets it.
They don't want to mass enable stuff for fear of everyting breaking all at once.

New mode does seem to work well. It's not at the level of a Series X yet. And I had access to all my other storefronts. It launches games with a bit more 'polish' than regular windows.
They still need to update the icons for other stores.
If this is the new Helix UI I think it will be an 'ok' thing.

I wondered the same so I asked Google what shes done and it came up with this list. Take its legitimacy for what it is.

-Dropped Game Pass Ultimate price from $29.99 to $22.99 per month, though new Call of Duty games no longer launch day one.

-Scrapped the "This is an Xbox" campaign and refocused on core consoles.

-Canceled Copilot AI development for mobile and console.

-Major leadership reshuffle, bringing in ex-colleagues from CoreAI and Instacart.

-Dropped "Microsoft Gaming" name, returned to just Xbox with a new retro-inspired glowing green logo.

-Increased focus on Project Helix next-gen hardware.

-Boosted sharpness and resolution of gamerpics, game art, and achievement icons on Series X at 4K.

-Added new dynamic backgrounds, profile backgrounds, and gamer pics featuring the fresh Xbox logo.

-Introduced new dashboard colors including a green gradient, plus options to customize or disable the guide gradient.

-Set up a dedicated console team delivering regular updates, aiming for bi-weekly drops the rest of the year.

-Refreshed achievements with new icons, animations, custom colors, ability to hide games, and a dedicated section for 100% completed games.

-Added Quick Resume toggles per game, profile badges in the guide, more home screen groups, a Play History tab, and other dashboard tweaks.

It probably missed some things as well. Not a bad start for her.

Feel like I'm living in bizarro world with all the praise of her. It's almost entirely lip service and her likely announcing things that were already in the works before she showed up other than maybe the GamePass price change. But I'd bet decent money there were already talks about that, it didn't come out of nowhere, it probably came out of a huge wave of cancellations after their big price increases. We know they've mulled over pulling COD from GP for a while too.
