There's something beautiful and calming about this pic. While the kid is obviously an eyesore, the fact that he finds solace in escaping to far away and exotic worlds via his PSP and anime brings about a feeling of tranquility.
It's as if he's oblivious to the cruel world and chooses to ignore its antagonistic qualities only to find happiness amongst polygonal and celluloid friends.

I disagree with Lil' Dice's dissenting opinion. I don't believe that escapism solves anything, and in fact it gives the anime fan and gaming enthusiast a bad rap. While gaming and cartoons may be diversions to real world issues, they are merely that- diversions, entertainment in a world full of tragedy. But, like it or not, we are rooted in this plane of existence- it's not something you can escape by immersing yourself into technology and entertainment.

I can, and do. Not with anime mind you(not a big fan of contemporary anime), but with books, videogames and films. I'm also a productive member of society and gainfully employed.
I'm not going to pass judgment on this kid based on a camera shot.
For all i know he could be another Morphix, a social misfit with a fat bank account.
