Konami published it and it was awesome!
Yes, yes it was!

However, it never reached the "target render" footage on the cover. :/

:lol

What 3D game has come close to replicating this classic 2P game?
*shrugs*

Nothing as far as I know... Jackal was pretty hot heh.

Oh man.. I remember how fucking excited my friend and I would get dropping off the little people.. and getting the missiles with the 4-way explosions.

OMG JACKAL LETS SEX

Edit: :lol at "target renders"

Not only dropping off the little people were cool, but having your partner protect you while you were doing it. The music, the atmosphere, everthing about that game was classic. Need a remake definitely.

I seriously must've played and beat this game more than Contra and that's saying something considering me and my friends played the crap out of Contra.

Amazing game!! I was hooked ever since I played it in the arcade. I bought the NES version the next day!

YEEEAHH!!

Drunk driving shenanignas in Halo PC! Get hammered, get in the rocket hog driver or gunner, enter a race server, drive around and blow crap up, and do a Chinese Fire Drill everytime you flip! Good times! :D

I absolutely LOVE this game... one that comes fairly close to Jackal (and ironically, pretty close to Halo) is Mercs, from the arcade, and on Genesis and the Capcom Classics Collection. It's the same top down shooter style of Jackal.

How fun is playing level 3 in 2 player mode and scrolling the other player into the laser beams? :lol

Jackal, one of my fave NES games.
Guerilla war was pretty fun too though.
Can't forget Double Dragon 2: The Revenge.

God damn, NES was the BOMB!

+ 1 to one of the best NES games of all time. Was the final boss a fortress? Damn that was hard.

What was good though was that it wasn't impossible like Ikari Warriors. You could beat it with skill and teamwork.

Konami actually developed it. It was also called Top Gunner and maybe Iron Horse.

Mercenaries is also similar to it in some respects.

Iron Horse was their cowboy shooter.

awesome game. loved the shit out of this one when i played it back in the day.

this is one of those games that ive been neglecting to pick up ever since i bought a used NES a bunch of years back. i need to get on the ball and pick this sucker up.

Holy cow! I thought this was a B game that only I knew and loved. Glad I've found fellow compatriots. The jeeps... man, this game had it all. The first time I played this was on the fourth of July almost 14 years ago.

IIRC, there was a fortress, then after you beat that it was some really annoying big tank.

This game better be available for Revolution Wi-Fi Service, that is, if Nintendo makes a deal w/ Konami.

Konami wouldn't have to, but it would be nice if they upgraded the graphics to 16-bit level or better. I would pay some change for that.

I love how right when I saw Jackal I could hear the music in my head! This game had some bad ass music!

the NES Jackal sucks. played it a few times, including once all the way through.
The ARCADE Jackal is the real deal. fucking KICKASS.

Jackal is *not* like one of those games where the
NES version is totally different and better than the arcade
(despite graphics) i.e. Double Dragon 2.....

Jackal is one of those games that is best experienced in its original form.
