That is, Skate or Die. I remember having fun times with these games, especially the improve ramp mechanics in the sequel. I didn't beat the sequel though, ran out of time at the end.
Seriously though the best skateboarding game on NES was Adventure Island!

Using a joystick made things feel easier to control, and if you used a trakball you could get the max on highjump without forcing yourself into cardiac arrest.

Skate or Die 2 is better. The first Skate or Die is pretty shallow. Not much to it. The second one is more of an actual game (with a story, items, and levels) instead of just a bunch of mini-games. It feels more cohesive.
