Netflix first time user.

So I signed up for netflix over the weekend. Set up my queue, Disc was sent yesterday and arrived today. Here I am all giddy to watch a flick.

Open the sleeve and the damn disc is cracked in half. Looks like it was sealed together and re-labled. %/

HUGE crack right down the middle of the disc.

yeah, I think there's a spot on the envelope where you can mark that it's damaged, I'd call though so they don't think it was you
 
Just go to netflix.com/replacements.

I would hazard a guess and say that happened because some idiot received a cracked disc and thought he'd be held responsible, so he tried to put it back together so he wouldn't get caught and simply mailed it back as if it were normal. It's not like Netflix is checking all the discs it receives. They rely on customers to report problems.
 
Update: I went to the replacement section on the website and additionally I sent them a (not so) nice little email. I just got a reply:

"We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback and comments. I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Please be assured that we are continually striving to improve our service

As a courtesy I have issued a bonus disc outside of your plan allotment, in the hope of accommodating you for the trouble you have experienced. Please keep in mind this is a temporary release of an additional title. Titles in transit do count towards the total number of titles checked out"

Not bad! It pays to bitch and whine. heh.
 
I've gotten a few broken discs from Blockbuster before. They always send me a new one, no questions asked.

They have an option on their replacement disc website page that says, "I broke or damaged the disc." I'm just wondering if anybody ever selects that choice if they do actually break a disc.
