Okay, so my friend has a laptop with a wireless connection but she doesn't have broadband. The neighbor's do however. So we went ahead and hooked up the connection to mooch off the neighbors. I even bought a range extender for her to strengthen the signal. Now, the signal always says 'excellent' in the task menu and it always appears to be connected. But it will not let her get on the internet or AIM at times even though the signal says it's good. Does anybody have any ideas what could be wrong? She says that nudie pics will be awarded to the person who correctly solves the problem.*



*she may or may not have actually said this and the person to solve the problem may or may not get nudie pics (may not).

it's possible they're using wep encryption to keep people from doing what she's trying to do.

sorry, i should have mentioned that it lets her online and on AIM over half of the time, but will just stop working sometimes. sometimes it will go days with working fine. but even if it's not working the signal strength is 'excellent'.

Maybe some type of interference.

Happens sometimes with my wireless stuff, i guess its just a bug, try updating software/firmware or sometimes just resetting (all hardware) works.

Though you should check the browser isnt set up to automatically detect connection settings aswell.
