I just thought of this movie today. I remembered it was supposed to be screened in my city, Dallas, sometime this month, so I checked up on it. Apparently it was screened:

I'm currently reading the Salon article. I don't know anything about the film thus far; I just thought it'd be fun to discuss since I haven't seen the film mentioned anywhere in a long time.

Cashill's film wasn't the most outlandish documentary on offer. It was trumped by "Innocents Betrayed," which attributes most of the 20th century's genocides, as well as lynching, the Japanese-American internment and the rape of Nanking, to gun control. Jumping from country to country, it first explains how a particular government passed laws limiting the ownership of weapons, and then cuts to pornographic montages of mutilated corpses. Walking out, a conservative journalist from Washington looked at me and said, "OK, that was offensive."

Some of these people are totally insane...

The opening night of the American Film Renaissance, the nation's "first and only" conservative film festival, featured an African-American pianist sitting in a ballroom of Dallas' InterContinental Hotel and playing "As Time Goes By."

...and even the organizers seem divorced from reality. Do they really understand how something like that looks?

I didn't hear anything about it either after the initial announcement.

It's obviously all Dan Rather's fault.
